Keeping Crampons out of your pack!
February 14, 2012

Very well-made, durable pocket, but "pocket" is not the appropriate description because it is large enough that you could put other equipment in this "attachment pack"--caribiners, a pulley, a multi-tool, and the like and because the sewn-in handle allows for secure, independent handling when the pocket is not attached to the pack. The main compartment zippers allow for easy access without removing the pocket from the pack to remove your crampons and access any other small equipment. A small zipper pouch on the outside of the pocket could hold even more--a couple of caribiners or a multi-tool. If you have an Osprey Argon or Aether (or the women's version of these packs) the pocket clips securely and easily into the outside of the pack via the laser-cut holes; this keeps your crampons, et al, out of your pack where you could damage the pack and other stuff with the sharp points. The drip hole is perfectly placed in the bottom, but a bit more ventilation would allow for better drying potential. All in all, a great accessory for crampons!

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

A Motyorcycling Use
July 17, 2009

I use it as a top pack for the panniers on my BMW R1200 GS. The retention snaps fit perfectly. Just back from a 2800 mile trip and no problems at all.

Excellent; fits on any rucksack

Used this for a couple of weeks in Alaska this May. Fit crampons easily and there is a little zip pocket on the side for hex key and bolts. Designed for Osprey, but fit my Lowe Alpine pack fine.

Too Big!
April 24, 2009

Although this is a high-quality product (durable and well-built,) it is simply too big to be practical. I was hoping to store it inside my summit-pack but the hard plastic backing makes it near impossible.
