Spacious but not too large
May 03, 2011

I bought this bag for work since I travel quite a bit and the bag I use needs to be able to take a decent amount of abuse. After the first few weeks I was sold, this is one of the best messnager bags out there. The material seems thin however it is extremely durable. The back is padded to add comfort and the zipper on the top allows access to the laptop which is great for going through airport security. Overall I was relaly impressed with this bag and Osprey. The one qualm I have about the bag is that it does look extremely sporty so it barely passes for a work bag .... It is what it is though.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: appearance

I'm so impressed with the look & functionality of this bag!

I've looked for months to find an ecologically-minded messenger bag for my laptop and man, did I choose the right one. I just got back from traveling with this bag and my 17" laptop. This bag has everything I needed to stay organized on my trip. The separate zipper for easy laptop access made the airport security a breeze to go through. My only complaint is that the velcro on the front can be a bit loud at a meeting when opening it. I would try to have it open before a meeting started. I can't wait to put it to more use!

Perfect

I needed a pack that could carry my laptop and accessories along with plenty of paperwork. This pack fits the bill. I love that it has plenty of pockets and fits everything I need with room leftover. I also really like the construction of the pack and the padded strap. It makes it easier to carry heavy loads.

Day to Day Bag
February 12, 2012

I bought this bag to replace a backpack I've been carrying for several years. I have only usedd the bag for about a week so far. I have always liked the look of Osprey bags and wanted something that would fit my 17 in Dell Studio laptop, a monster. The computer does not fit the backpack. I got this bag in the mail- great price from altrec!- and tried the computer...it fit!!! Couldn't believe it. I carry a bunch of odds and ends with me just about every where I go and this bag had plenty of space for all of it. It's made of durable material and isn't heavy unpacked. Two improvements could be: 1. The cell phone holder is small and could be remodeled with newer cell phones in mind. 2. The claps for the front flap feel like they could be stronger. The mechanism is also unusual. Not issues with them, I would just prefer a more traditional clasp. Overall, I am very satisfied so far.

Pros: Build quality, Great value

Just what I needed!
July 28, 2010

Admittedly I am a bag queen - ever in search of the perfect bag for whatever occasion. This Osprey bag is perfect for travel on a plane so I can schlepp laptop, food, a jacket, book, phone, etc. I like that it has a long strap to sling behind me. The color is beautiful. I've owned an Osprey day pack and love it. It recently had a rip from washing and they we most helpful and funny on the phone, repaired it and sent it back within a week. I whole-heartedly recommend this bag.

So far so good

I initially purchased an Osprey Astro pack but upon receipt found it to be a bit too small so I returned it for the larger Elroy. What a great bag. Two things I definitely wanted in a bag: Ability to easily remove the PC at the airport and the waist strap for when I ride the motorcycle to work. I haven't been to the airport yet but the strap is great for keeping the bag in place on the cycle. Plenty of room for my Lenovo with the 15.4 screen and all the other stuff I carry. Design and construction are first rate and the materials seem durable. I'd buy another if I ever need one.

It works....
October 20, 2010

The Osprey Panda Elroy has the room @ 1500cu.in. holds alot more than my Osprey FlapJack courier bag. Like the extra pockets and the zipper entrance at the top of the bag. the mesh pockets are a plus too. Holds my computer with it's slip cover on(15.6) Dell. the delivery was fast, the service was great and the staff very helpful. Thank you all.. Great SERVICE..

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Awesome Laptop + Gear Bag!
August 04, 2009

Getting ready to move to Hong Kong and will be traveling a lot. I really needed a bag that would carry my laptop, plus chargers, I-pod, phone, files, etc. This bag is perfect. The laptop fits easily, many zippered pockets for things used less often & a large open compartment for frequently used items, a soda, etc

Worth every penny!

I am thrilled with this bag. I spent months vacillating before purchasing it, and I'm so glad I did. The fact that it's made mostly from recycled materials was a big selling point, and it's turned out to be an outstanding purchase. It's very light and comfortable to carry, even with my 7 lb. laptop. The removable cell phone pouch is large enough to hold my iPhone (usually a problem) and attaches securely to the bag's shoulder strap. I love the fact that the zipper across the back allows access to the inside of the bag without having to open the front flap. Great for pulling out a file quickly (or your laptop when going through airport security). The Elroy is incredibly well-constructed, and I would be shocked if it didn't last a lifetime. It doesn't look gigantic (a plus in my book), but holds an amazing amount. This thing is like a clown car - bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. And no matter how much I stuff in, there's always room for more. Don't ask me how Osprey did it. Breaking the laws of physics would be my guess. I took this on a trip recently and managed to fit in my laptop, files, knitting, book, various entertainment devices for a 4 hour flight, sweater, toiletries, etc. And I still had room for my pack rat husband's inevitable spill over from his own over-stuffed carry on. All in all, the Elroy rocks!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value, huge capacity, comfortable to carry

Love this pack. It was bigger than I expected but it holds everything I need for a day. My I pad fits easily along with water and an extra vest or jacket. Nice to fly with as a carry on.

Phenomenal

Excellent choice
April 11, 2008

I'm a picky consumer, and the Elroy made my day. Well worth the money spent. Fits my 15" Macbook pro easily (in a neoprene case). I was looking for a bag with some rigidity so loose papers wouldn't curl, and this bag has a mesh divider that keeps papers from curling. It has plenty of room with pockets and dividers, and holds all computer accessories with ease. Smart design, thoughtful features, and well made. Highly recommended.

Great lightweight laptop pack
April 23, 2008

The Osprey Elroy is a lightweight laptop pack made out of environmentally friendly materials, which is a great thing about it. The laptop is generously protected by two cushioned walls that are sturdy but not heavy. There's lots of room of peripherals that go with my laptop, flashdrives, cables, etc. There's a firm sleeve for papers that need to be carried around as well. The bag is chockful of pockets and compartments for all sorts of office supplies and doodads females carry around. The zipper on the top flap make it extremely easy to access the laptop on a whim. The shoulder strap is also amply cushioned so that I do not feel the 6-pound weight of this piece of working equipment. It's a nice bag to have around and work with.

perfect for laptop/school/work
March 11, 2008

i ordered this bag and received AMAZING customer service on the phone. the guy helping me was so helpful and quick. the bag itself is perfect and perfectly secure for my 17" mac, holds many many books as well as cords and anything else from paperclips and pens to two water bottles and even more cords and writing utensils and books. the strap is comfortable, the color is great [mine is a beautiful green], durability is out of this world, and the icing on the cake is...it's at least 70% recycled material. the buckles are so neat [also recycled!], AND i get a ton of compliments on it. love it! just what i needed.

The Best Laptop Pack
July 25, 2008

This pack is perfect. Plenty of room, pockets, mesh water bottle holsters. This the is a complete bag. I use it everyday for work and school.

Just Right
September 22, 2009

I purchased the Osprey Elroy Shoulder Bag for my wife to use for school. She's very happy with it. She especially likes how her Toshiba 17 inch laptop feels stable inside it. She's also mentioned that the shoulder strap feels very comfortable and the briefcase-style handle comes in handy all the time. She says that the bag offers plenty of room for her books and a variety of other things too. Chalk this up as a successful gift purchase. Sometimes I'm not so lucky.
