Men's Atmos 65 Backpack - 47178 4.8 5 23 23
Great Overnight Pack I bought this pack on sale before going on a trip to the Grand Canyon. Only used it for an overnighter but if I needed to pack for 2 or 3 days there was room to do so. Good location of pockets and the pack felt very comfortable and light. I'm around 5'11 and 170 pounds, went with the large size and it fits perfect. October 17, 2011
Great pack Purchased this pack for my husband to walk the Camino de Santiago with me. We are an older couple. He particularly likes the separate sleeping bag compartment, well designed pockets, the hydration sleeve and the ventilation. I have the Osprey Exos 56 for comparison. The strapping and weight of the Atmos is more sturdy (and heavier) than the Exos but it still adds up to a very flexible and well made pack that is not that heavy. I continue to be amazed that such lightweight materials used on these packs are fairly resistant to snagging and tearing. No problems to date and my pack is two years old and well used so I have similar expectations for the Atmos. August 17, 2011
Not just for extreme sports I wanted to pick a backpack for my 2 weeks Europe trip and also suitable for my future back-country camping trips. I have physically checked out many brands and decided to go for Osprey for its features, size, and weight. The Atmos 65 exceed everyone of my expectations and the best of all, Osprey has a great warranty so that I can have a peace of mind when it comes to heavy usage. Opsrey's sizing guide is fairly accurate but I just hope their straps can be adjusted a little farther. All the zippers are very good quality and the pack doesn't look too loose when I only half filled the pack. Shopping at Altrec was a breeze - pricing, shipping and packaging are all very top notched. I can see myself shop at Altrec many more times in the future. August 6, 2011
Great Product This bag is a great bag even though it is expensive. How it forms on your back is nice when you have lots of weight on you back and when you are trying to get somewhere before nigh fall. I have been on hikes to Canada and I know that this is much better than the I used before Kelty. Sizing I am 5'8'' and 135 lbs., I got a size small. I was going to get a medium but I didn't like how low the belt loop went on my waist and I couldn't pull it up to where I wanted. I was an in between size but I decide on a small for the waist and my back fits like a glove. July 12, 2011
Great multiday pack I wanted a lightweight pack for multiday trips either with friends or by myself; this pack was a great buy for solo trips because you have to carry everything yourself. Extremely versatile, and has more room in the main compartment than I remember. It's great you can put a water bladder in the ventilation area, saves space and keeps your back cool. As far as prices go, its not too bad when you look at arcteryx or something of the like. July 7, 2011
Great pack Great pack in every way. Very hesitant to make the purchase of a high quality pack. Shopped around and compared to similar gregory's, and other high quality pack manufacturers and could not be more pleased that I pulled the trigger and got the Atmos 65. You wont be disappointed. Winter Day trip with Owls! I'm almost 6 feet tall with a size 36 waist. I was fitted with the medium Atmos 65 pack. My nephew has the same pack and I tried it on for a little while on a New Hampshire trip and loved how it carried. He hated my pack and couldn't wait to switch back to his. I loaded up the Atmos with some usual and unusual gear for this early bird winter day hike. I didn't weigh my gear but it was app 18 pounds. Loaded it with down jacket, extra gloves, hat, socks. White fuel stove and liquid, cast iron skillet, a ton of food for breakfast and lunch. A bag of cut up wood for our morning camp fire. On the back I strapped on a camp chair and hung a plastic bag that contained my cookie container fire pit. This was also a snowshoe trip. I did not have to strap on the shoes on the pack because we needed to wear them the whole time so I couldn't tell you how it carries on the pack. Because of the way I had packed my gear to start it felt awkward because the pack is not wrapped around you, there is a 2in space between you and the pack for air circulation. So I felt like I was leaning back and had to hike a little huntched forward. But after we finished burning the wood that I carried the pack felt perfect! The waist belt hugs me pretty good. I'm a hot hiker and I usually sweat a lot, but not this time. The mesh spacing between the pack and my back kept me from overheating and sweating. Last season when I used my usual pack my soft shell jacket had a layer on ice on the outside of my back because I sweated so much and it froze, brrrrr. No sweating this time, but I didn't really put that much elevation into this hike. Loved the Osprey so much I'm going to pick up one for my daughter. PS we did hear an owl that morning, very cool! Great Backpack I was contemplating to go either for Aether 70 or Atmos 65. With a chat with Altrec Representative I described my needs and spec on how tall I am. Chat person suggested to go for Atmos 65 (L) since I am 6 feet tall and I went on with the order. Serious to say this is splendid backpack. When I first discovered my first impression was with the design of this product. It's truely amazing. I was wondering how can one carry 25 pounds of weight for a trek/hike that too for miles a day. I am going to make my first Backpacking trip and I am confident I can do with 25 pounds of weight.. that's how great the design is. Basically you wont feel the weight on your shoulders because the support of the mesh pad at the back lands on your hip. Just to get the feel of the backpack I loaded 15 pounds and tried at home. So far so good. I am happy I got a good product after so many days of research and review of various products and product line. I slightly got disappointed with the color I got. I order for a Graphite Grey. Mostly it'll looks pretty close to black and it'll not look the same as what you see it in the photo. I'll post another review of this product once I am done with my first trip. March 11, 2011
Atoms, you pick the volume I am a huge fan of Osprey Packs (we currently own 6). The 65 has been such a great pack that I just purchased the 35L for day trips. I have 200 miles on my Atmos 65 through four seasons over the last 14 months. It is very durable and wonderfully comfortable: my total pack weight never exceeds 35lbs and is usually around 25lbs. Does a decent job of shedding light rain and snow. You will find NO pack at this price that is better, and the higher priced packs only offer gimmicks, not value. After stuffing this pack trip after trip (literally putting as much as I can in it then sitting on top of it while pulling the compression straps) I have one seam that is starting to come apart. But with the "any reason, any product, any era" guarantee, I figure I'll wait till something serious lets go and send it back for repair. Sizing is true: I'm a 17 3/4 torso and bought the medium, I should have gotten the small as suggested. Just buy it, you wont regret it. February 10, 2011
Great hiking bag Purchased the Osprey Atmos 65 backpack for a trip abroad. Great storage capacity, very comfortable and the best part is the suspension system. I sweat a lot and my back usually feels gross - even after 15 minutes - but despite hours of walking and nearly 20 lbs (on a petite 5'2" frame) my back was fairly dry. I had never used an Osprey bag before this trip but I'm a big fan and plan to purchase more in the future. October 25, 2010
Great Bag Great lightweight pack. I am a slightly bigger guy, 6'1 220, and most packs don't sit properly on my lower back. The Atmos large fits and feels great fully loaded. Originally purchased the Atmos 50 but exchanged it for the 65 because the 65 has the bottom zipper/storage area and the 50 did not. January 16, 2010
Excellent Pack! I've had this pack for a couple years now and have put it through hell without a rip or tear. I pack heavy and do a lot of 2-4 day hikes through rugged terrain on and off the trails. Very comfortable with mesh backing so sweat never sticks to the back and no chafing. Light. Stylish. A+ pack! December 27, 2009
My first pack, and I love it I recently went on a 2 day trip and it fit everything I needed, with a lot of extra space in the front pockets. I put a little less than 40 lbs. Its really light weight and comfortable, but I have a really skinny waist so the waist strap didn't fit as tight as I wanted. I put the pack through some rigorous action, and not a single hole or any damage to it. Good pack for a weekend trip. I would definitely recommend it. December 17, 2009
great For the last twenty years, I've toted 8 lb. Lowe Alpines, one l lb. GoLites, and everything in between. I have always liked Osprey's attention to functional details, and this model is no exception. They got it right again. 5 stars. December 16, 2009
Excellent bag! The best part is that you can use the side compression straps to reduce the thickness of the pack if you don't need so much space, so it can be a great overnight pack, or a great week-long-adventure pack. December 4, 2009
Great Pack! I just used this pack on a 4 day 42 mile Isle Royale trip and was very impressed. The ability to organize your gear is outstanding due to the numerous compartments. The comfort was great with 35lbs, no complaints. Highly recommended! October 3, 2009
Great Pack Comfortable and roomy this pack is breathable and very high quality not to mention light. A great purchase. April 13, 2009
Nice fit! All the structures are quite nicely arranged, and rooky enough. I like the torso constructure with the webbing. I also like the color. The adjustable strapes are quite beneficial. The waist belt is the neatest with the areated construction. March 27, 2009
Great! I just got back from a 3 day backpacking trip and is was light as a feather! March 25, 2009
A great organizer bag The tall version really fits my 6' 2" frame well, hip belts snug down securely and the belt pockets take a small a camera, sunscreen, lip balm and a half pound bag of trail mix. The option for hydration bladder inside or outside (in mesh area) works well and increases the internal volume, which is limited for rigid objects due to the curved suspension system. Don't expect to get any size bear proof container inside this bag. I used it all winter, with snowshoes, ice ax and crampons strapped to the outside and with loads up to 29lbs the bag and I traveled comfortably up 6000 foot peaks on 8 hour, 12 mile hikes. The front shovel pocket is roomy enough for wet rain gear and the top pocket ideal for gear that is needed quickly, like goggles, shell mitts and headgear. The compression straps and front pockets allow smaller loads to be carried on day trips without the bag appearing oversize for your summer day hike, and at 3lbs 12 oz its no burden to take it along. A very robust bag that shows no signs of wear and tear after squeezing past countless spruce trees bushwhacking in New Hampshire. April 8, 2008
Great Pack Just got it for my trip to Panama. Very comfortable, ton's of space, really lightweight, and plenty of different size pockets. I'm very happy with my purchase February 25, 2008
great bag lots of features i plan on taking this bag on my 2008 AT through hike. the craftsmanship of this bag is a huge improvement from other bags I've had. hydration comp, easy access the center of your bag, but what sold me was the airspeed back mesh. really comfortable! January 15, 2008
PERFECT! This was bought for our son for Christmas. As a 3rd yr college student, when he gets a chance to getaway, he loves to go hiking, camping, rock-climbing... the usual live rough and rugged attitude stuff... Anyways, he put that pack on his back and it did not come off all day Christmas Day!!! He said it felt like part of him! He used it the following week to go to a 5-day conference and it carried all he needed instead of a big ole' suitcase or gymbag. THANKS for a GREAT Value too!! January 8, 2008
