Description

Some compact day packs scrimp on features, but the Osprey Stratos 24 backpack is loaded with technical features and rugged functionality. That's because Osprey opted for a full-featured backpack design that emphasizes enhanced value, versatility and comfort. Recently Osprey redesigned their Stratos series and gave it an Airspeed™ Suspension that uses a LightWire™ alloy frame with a tensioned stretch mesh backpanel. It offers the same air circulation options found on the former AirCore suspension with a 3D form-fitting design and enhanced stability. The panel-loading Stratos 24 is hydration system compatible and has an integrated rain cover. Zippered hipbelt pockets make it easy to stow compact hiking and backcountry essentials for easy access. If you do online comparisons with other packs, you'll find lighter daypacks out there, but you won't find the quality features and functionality of the Stratos 24 Backpack in this carrying capacity.

Stratos 24 Backpack 4.9 5 31 31
Good daypack but not what I was looking for Well, the product itself is excellent, very esthetic and ergonomic design, very comfortable, useful pockets on the hipbelts, raincover included.... well, it's simply well constructed and has all features you might need for daily adventures, but I was looking for something that could satisfy both my biking needs along with my hiking activities. There was something missing, probably more pockets, more dividers, more storage.... For just a daypack it's perfect, but if you are a little bit more exigent and demanding like me, better look for something a bit bigger, probably 28 to 32 lts, with more outside pockets.. I would have been perfect ;) October 5, 2011
Quick and Lite Some days I just wake up and want to throw some things together real quick and hit the trail for a day hike.....early in early out. This pack is perfect for me. Holds everything I need. Rain gear, fleece, change of clothes, stove, food, water etc. Plenty of smaller pockets for essentials and personals you don't want to leave in the car like keys, wallet and cell phone. Side pockets can be used for nalgenes if you don't want to use the integrated pocket for a bladder inside the main compartment. Two small pockets on the waist belt are great for an energy bar or small camera. An integrated rain cover is hidden inside a zipper on the front....are you kidding me what a great idea. All packs should adopt this idea. I guess they don't get enough of your money for the pack alone. Stow and go system for my trekking poles are great. The suspension is great and keeps the pack feeling light on my back and the mesh back panel keeps my back much drier than other packs i've owned. Just a great little day pack......get it you'll love it!! I got the Tarn Blue in Large. Nice color and perfect size for me (i'm kinda large - 38in waist) July 27, 2011
Great pack for long day hikes I was looking for a small lightweight pack that would carry water, food, and clothing for long dayhikes. In addition, I wanted to replace a Camelbak pack that had all the weight on my shoulders. The Osprey Stratos 24 had all the features I wanted in a lightweight pack that had a comfortable hip belt: hydration slot, dual hydration ports, 3 mess small pockets in front, raincover, several easy accessible pockets, and a unique system to stow poles on the fly. This pack is designed with a frame and suspension that keeps the pack away from your back which prevents sweating. All in all this is a great pack for long day hikes as it has all the features I need and gets the weight off my shoulders. July 14, 2011
Awesome pack! I've used this a couple times now, and this pack just rocks. It packs and carries so well, I can barely tell it's there, even when I've got my heavy film camera and a couple lenses. And today I found out that the raincover works very well when I got caught in a gully washer about four and a half miles out. July 10, 2011
Excellent backpack!!! Love this backpack. Used it for the first time on a bike trip in >90 degree weather. The pack fit settled on my back comfortably and air circulation kept my back generally dry. The fit was right for my 5'2" frame and the straps were easy on the shoulders. I was not bothered by the pack swinging side to side with movement. Looking forward to using this backpack on a pack mule trip in Bolivia. I appreciate the others previous reviews on this product. June 3, 2011
My Favorite Pack Before purchasing this pack, I was already using the previous model. The previous model was exceptionally comfortable, but the arched frame took up a lot of space, leaving not much usable space in the pack. The new design corrects that deficiency, plus adds more features. It is the most comfortable pack I have found. The shoulder straps conform to the slope of my shoulders, the frame and substantial waist strap position the weight on my hips. The result is that I hardly notice that the pack is even there. Highly recommended. April 28, 2011
Well worth the money I waited so long after i bought this bag because i want to make sure that i will write an honest review. I took this bag to a foreign trip and it sure hold everything i need inside the cabin also for a 2-3 day trip outside our hotel. It is also very comfortable on your hips and back for a 2 day trip on foot. Plus people from all over the world has been asking me where i bought it. January 8, 2011
Couldn't Be Better This is the second Osprey Stratos in our family. It has been used for hiking in the Adirondack Mountains, Patagonia, Easter Island, the Atacama Desert of Chile and the hills north of NYC. It has also been used as a carry-on flying to various countries. We own lots of equipment/gear, but this is probably the best. When hiking, you truly forget that you are carrying a pack - - the weight is so perfectly taken up by (primarily) the waist belt and by the shoulder straps, and the AirCore suspension system keeps inches between you and the pack so that sweat evaporates (and you don't have to worry about placing soft items against your back). A large amount of stuff can be crammed into the pack with no adverse effects. The pockets and straps are very functionally designed and executed. And having the built-in pack cover is extremely convenient. All-in-all a great piece of equipment! December 9, 2010
just what we wanted! This is such a great pack. Will be used for everyday commute to work as well as day hikes. Size small great fit for a woman 5'4". May 24, 2010
Great fit and excellent quality This pack is an excellent fit. I have small shoulders and I ordered the small pack and it fit perfectly. The quality is excellent. Cant wait to use it on my upcoming hiking trips! September 1, 2009
Awsome Pack Very well made, carry's load very well. Osprey makes the best packs ! June 26, 2009
Great pack, with some deficits The pack is ultralight, very roomy, and the most comfortable pack I've ever owned. However, the inside is of a weird curved shape, and the hydration pack pocket is too small for a 100oz Camelbak. June 2, 2009
Sweet pack I like it as much as everyone else. I was a little uncertain at first but after using it a few times on hikes it has become my favorite. Really does manage heavy loads well. February 17, 2009
Excellent Pack, But Limited Space The pack is very nice, well built, and very comfortable, but its capacity will limit the amount of stuff you can put in it. For teh amount of cubic inch space that it has, it is a bit large. August 24, 2008
Great style and excellent quality! We really like the mesh to keep our backs dry. We do all sorts of summer hikes as well as cross country skiing trips in the winter. The style and quality are great! July 16, 2008
Durable, well designed pack I like to use equipment many times before making commnents. Having used it for XC skiing, hiking and climbing, I feel comfortable recommending this backpack. It carries weight very well, keeps the contents from moving around and has some nice features. There is plenty of room for food, water, fleece or shell, and accessories for a day hike. Having a frame is very beneficial in carrying the load, but it also makes it difficult to put in a backpack. Also, the stretch pocket on the face of the pack does not leave much room for contents, especially with an ice axe or compression staps closed. July 7, 2008
We love it! It is comfortable and cool. Lots of great pockets and places to stash extra items. It would be nice if it was waterproof because we hike in a rainforest a lot. February 25, 2008
Extremely comfortable This backpack is so comfortable, the weight in it is drastically cut. The design helps with the comfort and weight distribution/reduction. December 27, 2007
Excellent pack for light/day hikes! I've had this for about 6 weeks now, and have used it for some light hiking trips. The mesh back design keeps your back from getting sweaty, but does force you to pack things in more of a vertical configuration. The side pockets hold a water bottle on each side nicely, and the waist pockets come-in very handy for small things like snacks or keys. Even fully loaded, the weight distribution is very good, and feels like half the weight on your back! Very happy with this bag!! November 19, 2007
excellent great pack for mototorcycling and bicycling. also great for hiking with a great airflow over your back to keep cool November 4, 2007
excellent day pack i was looking for a day pack for cycling that had a support structure for stability. this is the perfect back pack because there is an excellent airflow over your back. November 4, 2007
Nice Pack Very well made pack! September 16, 2007
You can't go wrong with Osprey!! Wonderful pack. Osprey is the best pack out there!! Buy it and you will love it! August 6, 2007
Wonderful pack If you are looking for a great pack, buy an Osprey pack. The quality and features are outstanding. I love this pack. June 20, 2007
Great Day/Overnight Pack Great pack that's the perfect size for long day hikes and even an overnighter if you pack light. I've hiked with as much as 18 pounds in complete comfort. I went with the large for my 5'11", 200+ lb. frame. I have a 45-inch chest with a fairly short torso. The medium was a better fit to my back, but the shoulder straps pinched, thus I went up to a large, and this is what I'd recommend if you're big and/or muscular up top. The pack is very comfortable and expands to accommodate much more than at first appearance. The curved back makes for a somewhat strange compartment shape (so it won't take large, flat items like laptops very well) but having all that ventilation is TOTALLY worth it. I like that fact that you can stash dual hydration packs for hot-weather hikes as well. The hip belt pockets are big enough for small tools, a cell phone or a very compact camera, and maybe an eTrex-sized GPS or a snack bar or two, but nothing bulky. The side pockets look shallow, but hold a 1-liter plastic bottle with no problems. I love the overall attention to detail in this pack, such as the looped zipper pulls and routing for a hydration hose on the shoulder strap. It's extremely well-made and feels like a substantial, quality piece of equipment. I love it. February 7, 2007
Excellent day pack I picked this up because I needed something lighter than my Aether 60 after knee surgery for day hikes. Very well built and fits me much better than the Stratos 35 pack, which ran a little small in the strap adjustment area. Highly recommended! December 2, 2006
Fits great. Using pack to commute on bicycle. No more shoulder fatigue. Fits luch and clothes no problem. Full 100oz water bag when sorted inside main compartment takes up alot of space due to shape of pack. Not a problem. This pack is working perfect for me in my application. I need to cut down the excess straps, they fluttered in the wind after midnight coming home on a dark forest road, I thought for a sec I was being chased!!! September 13, 2006
Great mutli-use pack Very comfortable, great all round pack. I ride with it, brought as my carry-on on a weekend trip to Mexico and even use it to carry my softball gear. The attention to detail is bar-none. My only complaint is that is a little cumbersome for its size but thats a minor complaint. September 8, 2006
Ron - 2006 - 8 - 11 I used the Statos 24 on a technical climb up Little Bear peak in Colorado. It was comfortable and low profile and durable. I liked being able to place the hydration bag between the pack and the suspension backing. It is alittle small for carrying a full compliment of ropes and other technical gear. It was rainy during the climb, and I was surprised to find some of my gear inside the pack alittle damp after the climb. Over all a good pack for a day climb or pack. August 12, 2006
Good pack with some adjustments I took this pack on a day hike. It held up well but the curved aircore backpanel does take some getting use to. You must be able to pack items in a certain way for it to work. Overall an excellent pack. Another reason why I prefer Osprey packs. July 19, 2006
A great pack for day hikes I wanted a pack with hydration option (not included)for my water bladder, side pockets for easy access to my digital camera, plenty of packing room for layers and lunch, a place to hook on the GPS, and a place to park my trekking poles. Yes, I am a total gear head and a slave to consumerism. After looking in several stores and online, I settled on the Osprey after seeing this brand for the first time while in Moab. The mesh panels and light weight intrigued me and it looked like a really well made pack. It is that and much more. Based on the size charts, I originally bought the Large pack, but after a few hikes and it still not settling in just right, I went with the Medium and have been happy with my choice. It's exactly what I was looking for and now that the size issue is resolved, I couldn't be happier. I had found it cheaper elsewhere and Altrec did the price match plus which made it a great deal as well. I hope this review helps if you're looking for the same kind of pack. July 15, 2006
