wonderful
wonderful, roomy, sturdy, one of the on the market, thanks. ideal for school
Great choice for bike commuting
My Timbuktu was worn out after many years, and I wanted a technological improvement. I found it in the Osprey Torque bag, and at a significantly lower price. It is well designed for a bike commuter like me. I need to protect a laptop, carry a jacket, rain pants, and lunch. The bag also has sufficient and convenient pockets for the tools a bike commuter should carry. The mobile phone protector is a nice addition, too. It's a bit stylish for me, but maybe I will upgrade the rest of my appearance.
nice
I first orderd the next size up, it was to big for my use. Altrec had no problem exchanging it for this one. Thanks Altrec.

Awesome Laptop Protection
Of all the laptop bags I've seen, none offer the amount of protection this bag offfers. The padding is really sturdy, not just some piddling amount of pillowing. The semi-rigid exterior is awesome, making everything in your bag immediately visible when you open it. Fully taped zippers all around make this thing totally worry-free when you get caught in the rain. I've got a 15" powerbook in it and it fits like a glove. There's no snap or anything to seal the laptop sleeve, but it'd just be redundant, since the main flap keeps it from going anywhere. The only thing I'd add would be a beefier hand strap, like the one from Outdoor Products' line. Overall an awesome bag!
great bag
Appropriate volume. Holds a 15.4" widescreen laptop secure and padded. I personally like top opening as opposed to the messenger bag style flap. Strap is comfortable. Overall, great bag. Oh, I got mine on sale--at regular price, they are a bit steep.
I use it as a camera bag.
It is nearly perfect for an SLR, 3 lenses, flash, small tripod and accessories, and has traveld four continents so far.
It would be wonderful if Osprey offered a camera bag insert so I did not have to buy a non-custom kit for that purpose.
The zipper has started to separate from the bag, so I guess I will have to replace it soon.
great bag
I gave the Osprey bag as a gift. I had never seen an Osprey bag and was really pleased by the quality and styling.
Super Great Bag - for business or just for school.
I was amazed at the amount of hand-crafted details this bag has. Very, very, very nice quality - if you get the black color you can go to work with it even if you work in a fancy office. This bag is not that big - maybe it'll fit 2-3 full folders - so if you are looking for something bigger get the Transit model, same design, just bigger. Again, this is definatelly a bag that stands out from all the other messenger bags. Oh, and did I mention the waterproof zipper :)
Great Bag I use it everyday
This is a great bag. I use it everyday; commuting, traveling, etc. The bag is fully padded; back, bottom, and front and does a great job of proteting my lap-top from the bumps of the daily grind. The padding also holds the bag open unlike other currier style bags making access in and out a breeze. Organizational pockets inside and out are well placed and functional. The shoulder strap adjust easily and can be carried in a variety of positions.
Perfect bag - except for one detail
The Torque is a really well-designed bag that makes sense -- the designers placed function over form (although it's a nice-looking bag, as well) and made a messenger bag that is satisfying to use. It's stiffer than, say, the Timbuktu, which makes loading and searching the bag much easier. The Torque works great when carried briefcase-fashion, as the top handle is sturdy and comfortable and, importantly, the stiff, straight back of the Torque keeps the bag naturally at an angle that swings nicely next to one's leg without hitting it. It's comfortable and secure on the back while riding, as well. I really like the new addition of the phone case and an outside paper pocket, which were two shortcomings of the older model. Now for my ONLY gripe -- and it's not a small one. The rubber, rain-resistant zippers shred after a few months use, allowing rain to seep in IF it's coming down hard enough. Exposed zippers are nice for quick access -- but the coating ultimately wears down and I've ended up with damp belongings. Having said that, though, I've used a half-dozen brands of messenger bags and the Torque is my favorite for overall comfort and sensible design.
Good bag, lousy handle
Overall, this is a pretty good bag for carrying a laptop and a bunch of other stuff. It's large inside, has a tough shell, and includes a shoulder and messenger strap. My only real complaint is the flimsy handle on the top. If the main compartment zipper isn't closed all the way, carrying the bag by the handle deforms it outward - putting the contents at risk. Otherwise though, it fits my need for a tough laptop messenger.
A solid and well thought out bag
I bought this bag to replace my old messanger bag that was falling apart. I've always thought Osprey puts more thought into designing their bags than most companies, and this one is no exception. Externally, everything I grab all the time is in easy access: water bottle, keys, cell phone, without openning the bag's main compartment. The construction is solid and I'm sure it'll hold up for quite a while. That being said, it's not the prettiest bag and it wouldn't be my first choice for commuting on a bike, even though it has a waist strap, it's just not designed for that - and these are the only reasons why I wouldn't give it five stars.
Offered in colors: Black, Montero Blue, Rainforest Green and Ruby Port.
