Expanding on their legacy of superbly designed, great fitting women's specific backpacks, Osprey now offers the Aura 50 backpack for ladies who seek superlight backpacking gear. Placing an emphasis on lightweight, durable materials without sacrificing load-carrying comfort, the team at Osprey borrowed the supportive AirSpeed suspension from their popular Atmos series packs. They then reshaped the pack frame, shoulder harness, and hipbelt to create a women's specific fit. The Osprey Aura 50 women's backpack is extremely comfortable, even in the midst of the most fast-paced, intense adventures. All contact surfaces are either breathable mesh or perforated, molded waffle foam for maximum air circulation. On the backpanel this is accomplished by stretching the mesh over the flexible, ergonomic frame. And even if loaded down with extra camping gear, the ErgoPull hipstrap system completes a chain of sophisticated suspension and hipbelt components that efficiently distribute the weight, greatly reducing the chance for hot spots. Proper hydration is a key to the light and fast approach, so the Osprey Aura 50 backpack includes multiple options for carrying your favorite liquid nourishment. A hydration bladder fits snugly in a cavity behind the backpanel or in a sleeve within the main compartment. Convenient tubing portholes allow for left or right side positioning. Additionally, the stretch woven side pockets accept 1-liter water bottles or other assorted gear. Loading the Osprey Aura 50 backpack is easy, with a main compartment, zippered floating top pocket and twin front pockets with water resistant zips to choose from. Over the top of the twin front pockets a spacious stretch woven sleeve pocket with adjustable closure strap can handle most anything, including helmets and ropes. Easy access to small items is also possible when placed in either of the zippered mesh hipbelt pockets. Recommended carry weight is 35 - 45 pounds. For even faster adventures, be sure to check out the Osprey Aura 35 women's backpack.

This pack is still on expedition in S. Amer. Including 5 wks in ecuador (galapagos, amazon, cloud forest, the lares trek.5 wks in Peru, Bolivia, chile and the amazon in brasil. Performance was flawless! My Aussie friend loves this pack! It was loaded to the gills. Beaten up at airports, bus stations and on the trail. great fit, comfortable & rugged. This was a great test for this piece of equipment. From the jungle to altitude (15K)& the coastal deserts. Fantastic!
5.0
I bought this for my girlfriend - its a great fit! She especially likes the ventilation between the straps and the back pack...
4.5
Pack works great. Nice light weight, good small number of outside pockets to stash your "need to get at fast" stuff. We only went on an overnight and were thrilled with how much room there was. Shoulder straps did seem a little light. I came home with some bruises on the front of my shoulders. I am looking for a reason to purchase some other Osprey gear. The stretchy fabric is fab.
Love this pack
So comfortable, by far best pack you can get for this price & size for a woman
review on aura 50 pack
I'm 5'3" and I purchased a medium back pack and it fits perfect. I thought I was a small so make sure you try one on first with something in it. I took it on my first campout the other day. It was just an over nighter but we hiked up to the top of a mountain that was a few miles away. I LOVE THIS PACK. I've had about three or four others and they have all been a little uncomfortable at one place or other. This one was perfect. Felt great, plenty of room, loved the mesh back, hydro system, and pockets on sides. Definetely my favorite.
Nice Pack for the weekend
I bought this as a gift for my fiancee', and she love's it! breaks in fast, and is comfortable and light. a perfect weekender, with ample "breathing" and back support!
So AWESOME that I own it in 2 sizes now!
I have the 65 which is larger and it made it 1100 miles on the AT this summer. Now that I can go further with much less I picked up the 50. The suspension and air flow back has made a huge difference in allowing me to hike further each day! The hip belt pockets are novel yet I fight with them to fit my digital camera....guess I will just have to buy a smaller camera! Ladies, please believe me, this is a great pack. I have trekked with 3 different Gregory packs, 2 Mountainsmiths packs in the last 12 years. This design is the bomb!
Great 1-day backpack
I love this backpack for a day's hiking in the mountains. It's extremely lightweight, and the structure keeps most of the backpack away from your back, which is great if you get overheated or perspire a lot in that area.
The only drawback is that though this backpack could conceivably carry enough for a 2-day hike, it feels much more uncomfortable once you have 15 pounds or above in the pack.
Step 1 - Pack Sizing
All Osprey packs, save the transit bags, are available in multiple sizes to fit a range of torso lengths. To find your torso length, have a friend measure your back along the spine from the level of your iliac crest (the top of your hipbones) to your C7 (the knobby bone at the base of your neck).
Step 2 - Hipbelt Sizing
To determine your hipbelt size measure around your hips, not your waist. A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug; after all it will be carrying the bulk of the pack's weight. The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the pads when securely tightened.

ErgoPull
Nearly all Osprey hipbelts use an exclusive ErgoPull design. It creates mechanical advantage to provide extra leverage in cinching down the hipbelt. The ErgoPull design also draws tension along the top and bottom of the belt, not through the center, so it distributes pressure more evenly over the padding and relieves direct pressure on the hipbones.
Step 3 - Harness
Osprey Crescent & Luna, Aether & Ariel and Waypoint packs offer interchangeable shoulder harnesses. Harness sizing usually corresponds to pack size, but your best bet is to try one on. A properly fit harness should terminate 2 to 3" beneath the armpit. Webbing should not touch the body. By breaking the hook and loop connection and sliding the harness up and down the backpanel the torso length can be adjusted up to 3". (see illustration).

Step 4 - Overall Fit
Once you have the correct size pack, harness and hipbelt, and the torso length set properly, it's time to put some weight in the pack (20 to 30 pounds of well distributed weight will do) and dial in the fit. First, snug down the hipbelt and harness. Connect the sternum strap (A) - position it about 2 inches below your collarbones and snug it down lightly. Finally, tighten the load lifter straps to draw the load solidly against your back. The lift straps (B) should come off your shoulders at a 45 to 60 degree angle in Osprey's ReCurve and Ethereal Suspension packs. In other models these straps serve more as compression straps and ride flatter; they may even angle downwards.
In a good fit, there should be no pressure points and no gaps between your body and the pack. With Osprey's ReCurve packs, final tweaking may involve custom fitting the aluminum stays to your back.
Offered in colors: Garnet Red and Sapphire Blue. Available sizes, while supplies last, include size small, size medium and size large: s, m, l.
