i just returned from hiking rim to rim at the Grand Canyon over 4 days. This pack was awesome. It held just enough, was lightweight, and cool on my back. All of the adjustable parts made for a perfect fit. Can't wait to use it again.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, lightweight, ventilated back panel

Great supereasy + confortable backpack
April 16, 2010

I bought this backpack for my girlfriend and she loves it from the get go. I own the Atmos 50 for 3 years now and have used in treks in the Peruvian Andes without a glitch. The Aura is pretty much the same except built for ladies. I have been a faithful user of Osprey packs and they are really good at what they do. We are off to Spain now to hike The way of Saint James. A friend of ours has hiked with the Aura50 the last 220km comfortably and effortlessly she says!

love love love it!

I love this pack! I carried around a dinosaur of a pack for years. Finally I coughed up the dough for this one and boy am I glad I did. it's so light! 50L is perfect for a 3-day trip. I'm a pretty light packer so I don't need much space but this carried my tent, my sleeping pad, sleeping bag, camp stove, food, first aid kit, clothes and water sandals with room to spare. I'm 5'5 so I got the medium and it fits perfectly! This pack will last you forever!

Great 1-day backpack
September 18, 2006

I love this backpack for a day's hiking in the mountains. It's extremely lightweight, and the structure keeps most of the backpack away from your back, which is great if you get overheated or perspire a lot in that area. The only drawback is that though this backpack could conceivably carry enough for a 2-day hike, it feels much more uncomfortable once you have 15 pounds or above in the pack.

review on aura 50 pack
July 17, 2006

I'm 5'3" and I purchased a medium back pack and it fits perfect. I thought I was a small so make sure you try one on first with something in it. I took it on my first campout the other day. It was just an over nighter but we hiked up to the top of a mountain that was a few miles away. I LOVE THIS PACK. I've had about three or four others and they have all been a little uncomfortable at one place or other. This one was perfect. Felt great, plenty of room, loved the mesh back, hydro system, and pockets on sides. Definetely my favorite.

perfect fit for small woman

This pack is great I am small 5' and this fits great. Well placed pockets keep everything organized. Have used for 3 day overnight backpacking as well as dayhiking. Highly rec.

So AWESOME that I own it in 2 sizes now!

I have the 65 which is larger and it made it 1100 miles on the AT this summer. Now that I can go further with much less I picked up the 50. The suspension and air flow back has made a huge difference in allowing me to hike further each day! The hip belt pockets are novel yet I fight with them to fit my digital camera....guess I will just have to buy a smaller camera! Ladies, please believe me, this is a great pack. I have trekked with 3 different Gregory packs, 2 Mountainsmiths packs in the last 12 years. This design is the bomb!

So Far So Good
March 24, 2009

I just got this pack and have only taken it on a 10 mile day hike up and down steep canyon terrain. I packed it to the max and found that it was incredibly comfortable for my long torso (I'm 5'11").

Thank You!!!

Any small adventurous lady like myself, this is the pack to have. Light weight, bountiful space, lets you sore comfortably through your adventures!

Great backpack
September 08, 2011

All in all this is a great backpack. The numerous pockets and drawstrings make it very versatile. A separate sleeping bag compartment would be nice, but it fit fine in the main compartment. The ventilation between the pack and my back was excellent. We hiked for 6.5 hours on a 92 degree, humid day and my back wasn't sweaty. My only complaint would be that the shoulder straps dug into my collarbone quite a bit after a few miles. I'm a smaller female (5'6" 120 lbs) and my collarbone really sticks out, so maybe this wouldn't be a problem for a larger person. I hope to find some padding to put under the straps. Overall though, I would reccommend this backpack.

Great design, comfortable, light weight and just the size I was looking for. I'm 5'10", 130 lbs and according to the size chart I'm between a medium and large...I decided to go for the large and it fits perfectly.

Great Pack
November 10, 2010

I love this pack. Took it on a three day hike along the coastal trail and it fit way more than I needed. I brought way too much "stuff" but the pack carried it very well. The vented back was great in the high temperatures and humidity. I am looking at a talon for a daypack. Love the Osprey products!

Perfect!!!
October 26, 2010

Being short is frustrating. It is always hard to find gear that fits. But Osprey packs are perfect for us shorties! I took this pack to Glacier National Park and did a 2 night backpack trip. It was perfect! I was able to fit in everything I needed and still had room for more. The pack was so comfortable I forgot that I had it on. I loved the different compartments, especially the outer ones - I was able to access stuff easily and quickly. And I loved the breathability - never felt sweaty on my back and it was hot on my hiking trip.

Pleased with the present,Excited for the future!
July 26, 2011

I received my new Aura 50 backpack last week and have just now gotten around to giving it the full look over. I choose the medium for obvious reasons. The 50L seems to suit me well. I love the option to have a camel pack inside, although I personally opt for chlorine tablets or my U.V. light and just bring along a water bottle. Although for longer trips it would be a great to store my dromedary. I first packed it with a tent w/o compression straps on it, did alright but I think I'll stick with my tarp so I can include my sleeping bag along with my thermal pad when fall/winter hits. I love all the spaces for storage, especially on the hip belts. I like the thought of having my leatherman and compass so near. All in all I think it great for the price. Haven't taken it out on the trails, so I would rely on others for reviews on durability. In my opinion you could take this not just on a three-day romp or for two weeks, given of course you know what you're doing. Hope this helps! Enjoy the trails!

Pack works great. Nice light weight, good small number of outside pockets to stash your "need to get at fast" stuff. We only went on an overnight and were thrilled with how much room there was. Shoulder straps did seem a little light. I came home with some bruises on the front of my shoulders. I am looking for a reason to purchase some other Osprey gear. The stretchy fabric is fab.

Excellent pack!!!

This pack is still on expedition in S. Amer. Including 5 wks in ecuador (galapagos, amazon, cloud forest, the lares trek.5 wks in Peru, Bolivia, chile and the amazon in brasil. Performance was flawless! My Aussie friend loves this pack! It was loaded to the gills. Beaten up at airports, bus stations and on the trail. great fit, comfortable & rugged. This was a great test for this piece of equipment. From the jungle to altitude (15K)& the coastal deserts. Fantastic!
