Very Worthwhile
January 29, 2012

The Alibi II improves things significantly over it's predecessor which was basically a delicate version of rubberized work gloves seen on oil rigs and glass trucks. This is a very close-fitting nylon glove with a leather palm. There is padding along the base of the hand/pinky which in no way prevents smashing your pinky blue but it is better than nothing. The leather is treated presumably to impart some water resistance but this glove is not waterproof. The dexterity is excellent and the size is consistent with OR's other gloves. I can manipulate hardware and tie knots easily. I find that the thumb is ever so slightly too long but this is probably just my hand. Durability: mediocre at best especially if you are doing rock moves wearing the glove and of course a separate of "rappel-and-destroy" leather pair is a good idea. Warmth and dexterity are forever inversely related and this glove does nothing to change THAT. In milder conditions, these excel and in the cold you can simply use them as the liner inside a shell. The velcro on the wrist is robust enough to last and there two loops for carrying: one on the middle finger and another at the wrist. Carrying the gloves fingers-up prevents filling them with snow as you plow through waist-deep. Pleased with these overall.

Pros: dexterity, Cons: cold

Outdoor Research Alibi II Gloves
January 10, 2013

Wow! Best Gloves Ever!! After searching in vain for women specific ice climbing gloves, a friend recommended OR Alibi gloves, and I fell in love! I', 5'3" and the men's small fits me perfectly. Best grip of any gloves I have ever used, kept me warm in Bozeman and Ouray. I have a problem using bulky gloves and these give me the ability to make more precise moves and my hands stay toasty warm at the same time. These gloves are definitely a winner, and the Altrec sale price can not be beat anywhere!

Pros: leather palm, great fit and superior warmth

Fantastic Gloves!

I couldn't be happier with these gloves. The fit and finish are spot on for my size hand. I have since put these through some very tough tests. They have passed everything I have thrown at them. A very well made and tough glove!
