Sizing ChartOutdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiter
The original do-it-all gaiter of mountaineers, backcountry skiers, and off-trail adventurers, Crocodile® are designed to handle anything. Durable Taslan GORE-TEX® leg sections resist Devil's Club and keep snow out. The 1000D Cordura® boot section, lined with coated 8 oz. packcloth, stands up to ski edges, crampon snags, and general boot wear. The water-resistant coating on the packcloth is sewn to face the Cordura® layer, protecting the coating from boot abrasion. The hook and loop front closure is sewn with sturdy double-needle stitching. A shear tab prevents the front closure from separating at the bottom. The urethane coated nylon instep strap can be replaced on the trail without tools.

Really liked the fit of these gaiters. I wear a size 9 boot and the Large size was perfect for me. Very durable construction and really like the fact that the strap that goes under the arch of your boot can be replaced should the original ever wear out. Very pleased!

These kept us warm and dry throughout our trip to Denali. I would definitely recommend them to others. They also saved us from the countless rocks that would have gotten into our boots..

What do you want from gaiters? As far as I'm concerned, I just want to keep the snow out of my boots. These do the job admirably. They are quick and easy to put on and take off, and seem to be pretty breathable, too. The velcro closure looks like it might be a weak point, but it doesn't leak, and seems to be holding up well. And you can't argue with the convenience: this closure is way quicker than a zipper. I've had these for a long time and worn them on something like a hundred winter runs/hikes in the Wasatch, an they look as good as new. Still, it's nice to know they have an unlimited warranty.

I bought the gaiters, took them to the mountains and hunted grouse 3 straight 8 hour days and they were great. Good comfort, great fit and worked like they should. I couldn't be happier.

Purchased the OR gaiters in Dec. and used them for a week in the Mt. San antonio in Los Angeles wilderness backpacking. They were great. Easy to put on and off.Very comfortable. The weather was perfect, in the seventies and my legs stayed cool. Protected my legs from all the low brush. Also protected against mosquitoes and bees. Would recommend them to anyone who is going backpacking and skiing in the backcountry.

Used these gators for 2 days in Northern Vermont while snowshoeing. They worked great, very durable, no leaks. The large velcro closer tab is very secure. I really enjoy the heavy duty leather boot strap. It is very strong and will stand up to repeated abuse. Best of all the leather strap is replacable, when damaged.

These gaiters should last forever. They are made of first class materials and very well put together. The Velcro is really tough. They are easy to put on and take off. The lace-clip does not hold well on my boots. The boot would need laces that extend farther towards the toe for the clip to hold, but the underfoot strap holds the gaiters in place without any problem. These are definitely top of the line gaiters.

Used these on most of my wet walking trips in Scotland, Glencoe, Glen Etive, Skye etc with no problems. They do exactly what they are supposed to and not to heavy.

Bought these for my little brother because he was jealous of mine. He has an 18.25 inch calf and needed the XXL. I have the M and they fit my 14.5 inch calf. Don't over tighten them--the lace attachment will pull at your laces and mess up your boot fit (I wonder how I figured that out). Super tough--OR is top notch!

These gaiters fit well,I am glad I bought these. I have seen some Mountain Hardwear ventigators on the trail and those look like an interesting design. They might be an interesting choice too.

I bought these for use in the snow and for really wet weather. the quality is extremey good and the materials are very strong. I bought a slightly larger size and it fits all my pairs of hiking boots plus my large Sorel winter boots. As always, OR makes a great product and I am very happy.

Purchased the OR gaiters in July and used them for a week in the Jefferson wilderness backpacking. They were great. Easy to put on and off.Very comfortable. NY high peaks can get messy and this bad boy kept me from loosing my boots in several sinkholes. It was easy to adjust, get on, and off, and they did not slip. The only reason its a four and not a five is that they are hard to clean mud out off. It takes a lot of scrubbing.

These gaiters are simply great. The only thing I could complain is that the hook on the front kept unhooking from my shoe but no big deal. Bad shoes anyway.
Otherwise, I just tried them in Colorado after first snowfall, was fantastic atmosphere and they kept me dry and warm throughout the hike!!

Have only used them once but found them much easier to put on then previous gaiters I have used. Personally, I reversed them from the recommended side to wear them on. Found it easier to have the instep strap on the inside of my foot. For me, a little ungainly to tighten when on the outside. Lack of snow and ice in the Catskills meant they weren't exposed to any wayward crampons but the material seems like it would hold up well. Looking forward to using them more.

i own many OR products and swear by them; their gaiters are definatly top quality, but there is only one problem. the gaiters i really wanted for their incredible durability and design were the OR expedition crocs, which are made only up to an XL sizing; the OR regular crocs are made up to XXL, but they still are not large enough around the ankle!!! i mountaineer with size 13 snowboard boots and crampons, and the velcro closure just bareley closes. OR claims that a XXL sizing fits up to size 15; this is not true in all cases. P.S. if anyone from OR sees this remember i still love you, you just need to manufacture a small quantity of XXXL crocs for us bigfooted boarders; all us boarders don't just want to jib it up, some of us want to mountaineer too!!!!

Fitting Gaiters: Wrap It, Then Strap It
- Wrap gaiter around leg and boot top with OR logo on the outside of ankle
- Close hoot/loop front closure and fasten shear tab
- Attach hook through boot laces
- Tighten top strap and cam buckle
- Fasten instep strap
