Pros: Build quality

Good Hat- Good Fit
May 15, 2010

Fits great- easily adjustable. Deeper than similar hats I have tried and very waterproof.

Very nice hat
May 02, 2009

The gore-tex technology makes this hat very breatheble and waterproof. Besides, the hat looks very great.

Your head will not get wet. Guaranteed.

For a guy that doesn't use umbrellas and likes to stay dry. This hat is the perfect compliment to a waterproof jacket in the worst of conditions.

Very well made and 2 sizes is a real bonus in a cap
May 11, 2009

I purchased this hat based on another reviewer's comments about how well the hat was made compared to other brands. I am very appreciative of that review because that is my experience as well. Plus this cap comes in two size and the L/XL was far better for me than the one size fits all hats. I'm actually consider purchasing the hat in the other color also.

Hat to bring with you for many activities!

Fits well, I recommend this item to anyone. I have always been happy with the build quality of Outdoor Research products and this is no exception.

Great Fitting Hat L/XL
December 22, 2009

I purchased this hat to replace my North Face class v hat. This hat is one of the best fitting hats I've purchased Plus this cap comes in two size and the L/XL which is far better for me than the one size fits all hats.

Great cap!

One of the best shaped and fitting caps I've purchased! I have three - 'keep one the the car. Good in the rain and cold weather. A bit warm in the summer though. Wish there were an OR cap cut like this for warm weather wear

Nice Cap
August 12, 2010

I normally wear my Nike cap because when it is hot and sunny outside, I like that cap for it's ability to breathe when I sweat. So I wanted a different cap to wear for those times rain is forecast, since the Nike cap would just get soaked in rain. This OR cap is perfect for rain days since it just sheds water. When I pair this with my MH rain jacket & Marmot rain pants, I am all set for a downpour. This OR cap will definitely be my choice for hiking since I don't want to be caught in rain w/o this and have to trudge back miles with a wet mop of hair.

The only hats that i wear now

Light and comfortable and keeps me dry. Everybody on the job keeps asking me where they can get one.

High quality cap
June 21, 2006

This is very well made, with great attention to detail and quality control, unlike many caps with misaligned panels or crooked peaks (Nike, New Era, Under Armor). I bought L/XL for a size 7 3/8 head, and it fits well. It is very comfortable, with a great sweat band. I have pale skin, and the band does not leave any marks on my forehead. Part of this is also because the drawcord sizing is great and preferable to the usual adjustment mechanism on many caps with an opening in the back, with one potential factor to bear in mind: when you rest the back of your head against something (car seat, tree, whatever) you can feel the plastic cord keeper. I have an earlier OR high-rated UPF cap (similar look, but not Gore-Tex, can't remember the name, apparently no longer made) which utilized a hook and loop closure on the exterior (similar to the OR Prism Cap currently available), which is flatter and more comfortable when it rests on something (though this earlier cap had the strap in black rather than the same colour as the cap; the Prism Cap corrects this). The Deep Green colour is attractive, with the OR logo being made of reflective material. I like the styling overall, which is not a conventional baseball style, but more European; think of a French Army "Bigeard" cap from the '50s (Google it:) or a Rhodesian Army jungle cap from the '70s...i.e., with a low-profile, round-ish top. I like it, but it may not be to everyone's taste. The peak holds its shape nicely. I ordered this with 4 other items; they all came in one package, which is great and highly preferred, since Canadians get stuck with a $5.00 "handling fee" from Customs for any package assessed for taxes/duties (no duties, just taxes this time), so avoiding multiple packages for a number of items is a plus. Also, an order of $45.00+ to Canada also earned free shipping just like a continental U.S. order, a nice touch that other U.S. online vendors should emulate.

All weather hat..

As with other reviews, found it much more fitting to get the two size than one size fits all. I use this hat in all weather, great for rain, warm weather hiking, wicks away excess moisture, comfortable, storeable, very light weight.

Exactly the cap I needed
June 13, 2011

Used it in a horendous fishing trip. In one afternoon it bucketed rain, pelted hail, and drizzled the rest of the time. And the drifter cap kept me dry and comfortable. One downside, like some other reviews, I found the sizing a little large. While it has a good adjustable headband, the cut of the cap leaves it looking like a mushroom unless you pull it right down. Still, great cap for fishing, back-country or any activity where bad weather can unexpectedly hit.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: large sizing

Great Hat
January 26, 2011

Like all OR products this hat is made well. The fits is good (I like the string adjustment on the back of the hat great for when the wind kicks up) very light weight, it breaths like it should being made with Gore-Tex. This is a Great Hat.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Nice hat
June 14, 2009

The cap is lightweight, looks good and the larger size fits my rather large head much better than a one size fits all cap. I have been looking for a rain hat to carry with me to keep the rain off my glasses and this hat has done the job well.

Best hat for wet weather, that I've ever seen.

I wore this hat in very warm wet weather, and it kept me bone dry, along with extreme breathability.

I love this hat.The gortex is wonderful.
January 12, 2012

Hat is very light, the bill is great to keep out the sun and the gortex is great for allmost any weather.I am going to get another one for my friend.I use this hat for long hikes and it keeps me warm and comfortable.I would highly recomend this hat for the avid hiker or walker. The draw string for sizing is great because I keep my hair short in the summer and let it grow out in the winter, fit is perfect.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, looks good with everything

Awesome
March 14, 2011

I now have 2 of these bad boys. I purchased the first one even though I hate ball caps, to help keep the hood up on my Arcteryx Alpha jacket in the rain. So every thing past that task was gravy. As it turns out this thing fits great, looks great, and repels the water great. This thing is awesome and my new "go to" hat. It has only been through a few rain storms so far, so it is hard to gauge durability, but based on goretex's reputation and OR's reputation, I expect to be wearing this thing for a while. I am even gonna buy a third one for my dad because he saw mine and wanted one for the rain!

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Fantastic -Weather Cap
June 08, 2010

The OR Drifter cap is especially great for wet, cooler weather. My cap of choice for hiking and running in the winter and shoulder seasons (in the summertime I prefer the superior ventilation and drying ability of the OR Swift cap). The Drifter cap is highly waterproof, durable, handsome, easily adjustable, super comfortable, and it stays in place well when it's windy. Definitely worth the $$.

Great practical cap
June 16, 2011

I bought the hat for rainy days and outdoor workouts. The material is waterproof and dries quickly. The fit is a little odd for me. My head is 24.0" and the hat bulges on the top and sides (I have a crewcut). Even when pushing the air out, the hat fills in again anyway. Not a big deal for me as I bought it for practical purposes.

Great Rain Cap
January 24, 2012

The Drifter Cap worked great by itself and under a hood. It's light weight, waterproof and has a sturdy bill. It also stays on your head in high winds.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Great light-weight gore-tex cap.
October 30, 2005

I use the Drifter Cap while running in the rain or snow and it does a good job of keeping me dry. I plan on using it when Kayaking this spring and I think that it will perform well then also. The drawcord is a nice feature. I works well when it gets windy. Another great OR product.
