When load control matters, this compressible Drycomp Summit Sack offers some of the best waterproof protection you'll find for your climbing equipment and outdoor clothing. Outdoor Research designed this 1,885-cubic-inch crag bag with their proven waterproof and rugged Hydroseal® coated Antron nylon fabric and taped every seam for enhanced protection. The four compression straps convert to shoulder straps and a hip belt for hikes along the approach--a feature that seems fairly standard among climbing bags until you notice that Outdoor Research created ergonomic contours along the Drycomp Summit Sack so it fits flat against your back. The straps have foam padding near the top to wrap around your shoulders--it's certainly not a backpack with an ergonomic backpanel, but the Outdoor Research Drycomp Summit Sack gives you more comfort features than conventional gym-style climbing bags, so you can save some energy for the final push to the summit.

I bought this product because of its versatility for an around the world backpacking trip. I'm going to use it as compression sack/drybag inside my larger internal frame backpack, and then as a secondary bag for two-three day trips and airplane carry on.
As a dry bag it appears to seal very well. It has tapped seams and the material appears durable.
As a backpack, it has a large main compartment volume good water bottle pockets. It lacks pockets for organization and compartmentalization, but that's a trade-off for weight and packed volume that's useful for my purposes.
As a compression sack/dry bag, it does a decent job. It holds my tent (no poles), sleeping bag, sleeping pad, hammock, sleep sack, towels, and compresses it so that it all fits into my backpack's bottom compartment.
I haven't tested it in the field yet, but my impression so far is that the quality is decent and about as durable and comfortable as it could be while minimizing bulkiness and weight.
I also have the OR Dry Peak Bagger, which is much lighter, but I don't like it because the material and straps are too thin and fragile.

This 12 oz waterproof drybag, is also a backpack. I can fit a weekends worth of gear (hammock, tarp, food, clothing), put 1L water bottles in the side pockets, and stay overnight. I had to add a sternum strap, but it carries 15 lbs comfortably. A very unique pack.
