Very good , overall

This hat is comfortable, warm and pretty much waterproof. The features make this the perfect hat to wear for extented use in cold, snowy weather. The face mask is a huge plus. It is easy to access and use. Depending on conditions you can have your face covered or uncovered very quickly. The brim of the hat is great because it has two positions. You can have it down to help protect your eyes and face or have it held up with a hidden magnet that has never failed for me. The only drawback is that the hook and loop closure for the chin flaps just didn't stand up to the task. The flaps were contsantly seperating. I fixed this by attaching a heavier duty hook and loop closure. Now it never seperates. Despite this need to replace the hook and loop on the chin, this hat is great and was the only item I found that had all these features. It is now an importrant part of my winter gear and i would but another one when this one wears out, if it does. I just hope Outdoor Research addresses the hook and loop short coming on this otherwise graet Frsostline hat.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, very warm, Cons: inferior hook and loop closureswarmth in the wind

The hat works great and in the wind is just right on cold days. The I use for long walks in a windy section of a park near home , seems to work just right with the cold temps.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Costthis hat does it all

warm, 'retractable' visor and facemask. very comfortable in every configuration. little concerned about the longevity of the 'alternative to velcro' fasteners and stitching around that area - but all in all a great hat
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great valuePerfect for biking

I purchased this product for biking in cold winter days/nights, and I am 100% satisfied. The fabric is thin, so that it fits well under my helmet. The fleece inside layer makes it very warm, and the waterproof and windproof outside layer provides protection against rain and snow. The face mask - very easily zipped out - may not provide the warmest protection against biting wind, but allows proper ventilation. It is ideal to wear under a hood.
Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: Bad designWrite a review for the Outdoor Research Frostline Hat here.
super warm hat, nice material

using for cycling but need to use my larger helmet to fit it easily. Great layer for super cold days and I'll also use for hiking. Took a size medium as I expected so seems to run true to size.
Buy it a size larger!!

It was 15 degrees out last night with a steady 20MPH wind when I took our dog for a walk last night. I wanted to give this hat a real test. This hat is well made and much warmer than you would think considering the thickness (it is thin). I am sold. It is thin and light, but windproof and warm. The face mask feature is very well engineered, and works very well considering how thin it is. I have now changed my view of thick = warm. These modern materials have changed the game. The only bad side is that the hat runs small. I bought the XL, as I have a melon for a head, but it is tight. I wish they made a XXL. If they did I would buy two more. I will keep this one even though it is tight. Altrec - can you convince O/R to make a XXL for me?
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, thin and light, Cons: they run small!Outdoor Research Frostline Hat Photo
