Amazing warmth to weight!
February 05, 2012

I have owned at least 20 different beanies and I have to say that this beanie is hands down the best warmth to weight ratio. The cut of this beanie is quite awesome as well, as it covers the entire back of my neck and ears with ease. The beanie is sort of stretchy, and at first it looks like it would let wind in, but it does a decent job (it is far from windproof) at not being decimated by the wind. On winter hikes I just throw this on over a visor and I have warmth and some sun protection and it fits great. Dries quick and maintains its warm retaining abilities while wet. I have put it on straight from the washer and it has been quite warm.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

light and warm
March 18, 2012

This is a nice looking warm beanie that is also light in weight. The only thing I don't like about the hat is the label - so I cut it off. I guess that made the hat even lighter. LOL On some 'OR' hats the letters are sewn into the hat giving it a real classy look but unfortunately not on this one.

Pros: Great value

I like it!

Good Hat
February 20, 2012

I use it to ride my motorcycle at 55degrees F and it shields the cold weather perfectly. It fits tight and is not blown away by the strong wind as it has happened to me with other ones.

Pros: Great value

Comfy for Moderate to Cold Weather
February 14, 2011

The boiled wool has a nice feel to it and the material is relatively thin (thicker around the ears where there is an inner fleece liner), but warm. I bought two OR "one size fits all" winter hats recently and they fit very well (I usually wear an OR medium), covering the ears nicely with a little bit of room up top to spare. The fabric is not super dense and I would rate wind resistance as moderate. If outside in bitter cold (single digits and lower), this hat would be best used with a jacket with a hood to help trap heat. Overall a good all-around hat that will meet most of your winter needs and it looks good too.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Warm hat!
December 28, 2009

Purchased it for my picky boyfriend..he LOVES it. He says it is very warm, and only takes it off when he absolutely has to. Usually he wears a large hat size, and this fits him perfectly.

Better then the average beanie
June 30, 2011

Most beanie hats are too small for my head and are uncomfortable to wear (My hat size is 22.5 inches). This hat fits me nicely and is not so lose that it will fall off in windy conditions. The design of this hat is long enough where it will fit all the way over your ears which makes it warmer then most beanie style hats. This hat blocks the wind better then my old fleece hat and is also warmer.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Gradient Hat
March 17, 2011

I LOVE this hat!!! The Gradient Hat is made of wool and as a result it is SOOO warm. Unlike fleece hats, this hat does not allow wind to penetrate due to its tight wool weave. It looks great, too!!

Pros: Great design, Performance, Great value

Very big
December 09, 2009

For one size fits all it's a huge hat.

Very nice head warmer
February 14, 2010

Among the last 4 beanies I've owned this one is by far the best. It covers my ears well and doesn't ride up. The design goes well with my jackets. Stylish without being goofy.

Great new lid!

Nice Hat
February 15, 2012

I received the hat today and have been wearing it most of the day - inside my house - that is how much I like it. If fits snugly and nicely and looks stylish.....I bought the blue/charcoal. I asked my teenage son what he thought; as he has good taste in clothes and can be rather finicky. He really liked it. I can't speak to the durability of the hat as I just received it but it appears to be constructed well and looks like it will last a long time.

Great beanie
February 01, 2011

The hat is comfortable and attractive. It fits snug around the sides of my head without being overly tight. It's made of dense, quality wool that appears durable and keeps my head warm no matter how hard the wind blows or how cold the weather is. I would prefer if there was less room in the upper part of the hat, I have a small head so it doesn't fit flush against the top of my skull, but this is forgivable since other people may need more room upstairs. I like the style of the hat and will buy more in other colors. The soft inner headband feels comfortable against my ears and forehead and provides a bit more insulation to seal out the cold right where it's needed. It took me a while to find a hat that looks good and performs as I'd hoped. Would recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, attractive, Cons: a bit loose up top
