my first and last bucket hat
November 22, 2009
It is very compact, weighs almost nothing. It's very functional and I would recommend it to anybody looking for both a rain and sun hat.
Walking in the Rain
February 06, 2012
My dog walks in the rain now include dry glasses and much more comfort, my outfit is complete. I've had trouble finding hats that fit. This fits comfortably on my slightly larger head, not tight and yet stays on well. It provides protection for my glasses, which I have normally used a visor to protect, which has left my head wet. I enjoy using this hat very much! Haven't had it long enought to determine "durability" however, living in Oregon - I should have those stats fairly soon !
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useGreat rain hat

The brim is not too big like the OR Seattle sombrero. Keeps you dry in the wettest conditions. I used it on a recent trip to Oregon and Washington. Fit is good and the hat is light. I will not buy another rain hat!!
Very good hat

I like this hat. It is always there when I need it, through sun and rain seasons, or just for a good looking bucket hat that's comfortable to wear. It is perfect.
Nice looking and compact - folds into it's own pocket

Hat looks good, functional, and fits into it's own pocket. I looked at many bucket hats before choosing this one.
a very nice pocket rain hat

While their Lightstorm Bucket lacks the inside velcro headband snugging adjustment, the handy outside hanging loop and/or pencil flashlight holder, and the wind resistant foam filled brim of my mainstay OR Gore-tex bucket hat, this hat cleverly folds into its own pouch inside the crown, and becomes easy to stow in a pocket always ready for use. But the pouch snap requires strong fingernails or a small flat bladed tool to pry it open. However, it is cleaner looking without the outside hanging loop, and lighter weight than the Gore-tex bucket. An inside hanging loop and a velcro adjustment for fine tuning headband tension (absent the chin strap) would be welcome additions, but the hat is clean and well made overall, and is a welcome addition to my personal foul weather gear.
Great hat

Lightweight, highly packable (in it's own self-contained pouch), and stylish enough for city use. Haven't tested if it's water proof yet though.
Great rain hat for travel and general use

The 2-1/4" brim is deep enough to keep the rain off my eyes and/or glasses. It weighs 2-1/4 oz (size S), packs quite small in it's interior mesh pocket, is wrinkle-resistant, and water rolls right off it. It has a moisture-wicking band inside, black mesh lining, and doesn't feel hot on. The black-on-black check is subtle so it looks mostly black unless you look closely (in the photo, the checks look lighter and more prominent than they are in person), and the underside of the brim is dark gray. I was concerned the unisex S would fit as well as my other OR women's size S sun hats, but it fits perfectly even though it has no pull-cord adjustment. The chin strap (which is removable) will keep it on in the wind. This will get more use than my larger-brim OR Misto rain hat that's also nice, but which is heavier, hotter to wear, and not as packable.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuenone better

Light-weight, keeps you dry, fits easily into any pocket, and the way it folds up keeps your pocket dry. As an added bonus, the wide brim turns it into a pretty good sun hat as well.

A great but not perfect hat
December 24, 2009
This is the best rain hat I've seen so far. The brim is not too wide like the OR sombrero, and usually when wind blows the brim up it will settle back down (the sombrero would usually "stick up"). However, there is no headband adjustment, which is common in even $5 baseball caps, which means it may blow off your head when it's windy unless you also put on the dorky chin strap.
Great choice!

I think the fit is true to size, color is accurate, brim size is just right! Love it!! I wear it fishing and horseback riding. It washes well, though I didn't chance it in the dryer. Hang to dry and doesn't take very long.

Well made and good looking! Also rolls up compact enough to easily store in my golf or hiking pack. The black or sand color will match almost anything! Very happy!

This replaced my 4 year old OR rain bucket, which served me well for years. This one, however is a more substantial product than before. More comfortable than expected, great fit (medium for my 7 1/8 head). Fresh color options and a quality build!
