Versatile
The removable liner makes these gloves versatile for both very cold days and relatively mild days, key for anyone who enjoys the outdoors in the Northeast. As typical with Outdoor Research gloves, burly construction and a quality product.

Good Solid Mitt
I debated for a while buying these or buying the OR endeavor shell mitt or maybe a heavier OR mitt. This was the right choice. The endevour mitt is made from Gortex pac lite....which makes them a litte more flexible and easier to move your hands in, however they aren't as durable as the gortex pro shell used for the Cornice mitts. The cornice mitt also comes with a sweet premaloft liner...or you can just use a thin liner in them. I thought of getting a thicker mitt for warmth...but its super nice to just have a thin shell...that way if they were to get wet, i could just switch out the liner.

Nice Warm Mitt for Skiing
Purchased these for my wife in size small as Outdoor Research doesn't make a woman's version. She always had cold hands while skiing wearing gloves, these are a big improvement. Bought these rather than the Altis as those could be a problem for holding ski poles. For really cold days (< 20) she needs to wear a pair of Patagonia liner gloves inside the Cornice mitts to stay warm.

Very warm
A little thinner than I expected but still very warm. As always, very high quality.
I bought the small size for my girlfriend and they still ran big so if you are planning on getting this for a woman be prepared.

Traditional Mountaineering Mitts
I was looking to get a set of traditional mountaineering mitts, as the one I had from college days was long gone. Had hard time finding a quality mitt with the outershell and liner combination. After researching for few weeks, I settled on the OR Cornice Mitt. This fits the bill for backcountry winter mountaineering in the United States. Want to climb Everest or go to the Himalayas get the OR Alti for double the price.
Interesting fact not shown on catalog page: The liner is candy apple red.
Sizing, however, runs a little larger than what the sizing chart recommended, probably due to the outershell. However, this outershell accomodated my thicker wool mitts.

Greatest Mittens I've Owned
I live in Iowa and the winters can reach -20 degrees. I had a problem with other mittens not keeping my fingers and thumb warm. I found the Cornices more than warm enough at -10 below and allowed ample room for hand warmers. The taped seams are waterproof and if my hands get too warm, I can take out the liners and wear them alone.
