Nice Piece of Gear
March 28, 2013

This hoody is a high quality piece. I've had it for over a year now use it in cool to cold weather as a primary outer jacket. It is quite warm and somewhat wind resistant. I like the number and placement of pockets, and can't live without lined pockets like this one has. Being able to snug up the hood is a bonus not found on some competitors. Of course, to satisfy my ego having the "OR" logo designates me to others in the know as someone who wears quality stuff with nice technical characteristics. Overall, I'd recommend this one, especially at a good sale price.

Nice Hoody !
January 06, 2012

The OR hoody is quite nice. I've had it for about a year now and it has good quality construction throughout. It's much warmer than fleece alone and doesn't "get thin" with wear like fleece does. The fleece lining does provide excellent warmth and the wool exterior is not itchy, and the tight knit of the wool helps to keep the heat in and the elements out. The hood fits snugly and when not in use actually forms somewhat of a collar that helps keep the back of my neck warm. The garment also has a much sleeker fit than fleece or a puffy down sweater. Pockets all well positioned and numerous. Thumb holes give sleeves some extra length which I like. Aside from technical aspects it is also "stylish" enough for casual wear around town. Although the hem sits close to the body, a drawstring might be a nice addition. Overall, a very versatile piece.

great
November 17, 2011

I have had this sweat shirt/jacket for over 2 years now. It performs outstanding while skiing and winter camping in the northeast. (famous for cold temps and ice sheets to ski down) This jacket was a great mid layer on the coldest days on the lift (-15 at the summit) and breathed well enough to keep me from over heating skiing hard as the temp hovered around freezing. There is an inner buttoned pocket to keep your cell phone from freezing or falling out, and two big inner dump pockets to keep your water from freezing while camping. The thumb hooks mean a 6'2'' guy like myself will enjoy sleeves that are more than long enough. There are warm and well positioned hand warmer pockets. The hood is generous and has well placed draw cords. The brown looks great I wear it around town all the time. I would recommend this to anyone.

This jacket is very well made and is very warm. On 30 degree mornings with a base layer under it kept me just the right temperature. I have got several positive comments about what a nice jacket.

Warm and soft but there are better choices
February 09, 2013

I bought this a month ago. It's warm and stylish. However, the front zipper doesn't have a backing and so it chafes my neck. While I love this hoodie, it will be going back. Instead, I got the Patagonia Better Sweater Hoodie. It isn't quite as warm as the OR but is at least not as annoying.

This is a very comfortable and stylish hoody. My only minor complaint is that the wind whips right through it. I was not expecting it to be windproof so it wasn't that big of a deal. Lots of pockets throughout.

Perfect Everyday Hoody
February 24, 2013

5'7" and 128 lbs -- ordered the size small in November 2012. Fit: I want to talk about the fit first because I love the fit. The hemline falls just below my belt. With my arms down by my side, the sleeve falls just below my wrist and above my knuckles. The shoulders hit exactly at the shoulders and the armpit is cut high for an athletic fit. Meaning I have full range of motion with my arms without the sleeves "lifting" the body of the hoody or having excess material from the body of the hoody sagging on my arms, off the shoulder. The hood also has a slim profile so your peripheral vision isn't blocked. It also has adjustable draw cords and the front zipper zips high enough so that wind is kept out and doesn't billow off in a strong gust. Yet it's roomy enough to wear a watchcap underneath. And when you push it off, the hood folds flat all on it's own without any manipulation. I think it is because of the paneled construction. When on, the hood forms to the natural contours of your head and doesn't have a peak like a dunce cap. The outside has a wool texture that isn't silky smooth like a cotton blend fleece, but it makes it tougher while still keeping you warm in a light drizzle or snow. It's a more rugged alternative that I think will keep it's shape better and last much longer. And because the interior is made of a soft polyester blend, it's soft and pleasure to wear with just a light t-shirt. Even the pockets are lined with this soft material for your hands. And the way the body panels are thought out and stitched, it has a flattering form that will stay put the way you put it on even when layering under another jacket. It will not turn or bunch up under a jacket. Zippers are high quality and silky smooth. And it's easy to line up the teeth and zip up even without looking. And even zipping up while sitting, the interior will not catch on the zipper. The two interior pockets (one long map pocket and a smaller pocket with a button clasp) are made of a very strong smooth nylon material. Larger pocket is perfect for a map or gloves. The smaller pocket is perfect size for holding an iPhone. It's easy to slip in and out and it holds it in place with no extra room (so that it doesn't flop around when jogging with the phone in this pocket). Both interior pockets are on the left side so you can access it easily with one right hand. (Good for righties.) A very well engineered hoody that's quickly become my favorite hoody I've ever purchased. Thank you Altrec and thank you Outdoor Research.

Great Casual Hoody
October 13, 2011

This is a heavyweight hoody sweatshirt that has a nice wool exterior and cozy fleece inside. Well made and good looking, this jacket is versatile. This is going to be a jacket I wear frequently this fall and winter.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: Cost
