Excellent Multi-Purpose Layering Piece
I purchased this jacket as an all weather layering piece for Alaska weather. The Primaloft insulation works very well in wet climates and the thin profile of the jacket fits well under a wide variety of outer garments.
I have been surprised at the overall warmth of the jacket and find it very capable of handling 10 degree days with wind. Under a good shell, it is all I need for extended outings below zero.
As with all Outdoor Research products I have purchased this jacket is very well made with a lot of thought in the details of the garment. The location and size of the pockets are excellent, and the addition of the interior chest pocket is a nice plus. I also really like the adjustable sleeve opening. All the other jackets I looked at had simple elastic cuffs which are I feel limit the flexibility of glove choices and are less comfortable.
The jacket packs down very small making it a great choice to throw into your pack for almost any outing.
The only negative may prove to be overall durability. The exterior is a very lightweight material and may be prone to tearing. I have not had any problems with it to date, and will mostly be using it as a mid layer with an outer shell so I don't anticipate an issue.

excellent purchase
Jacket is very stylish. It is not bulky, like some down Jackets IProvivides excelllent warmth in zero weather, but I doubt it would be warm enough in extremely frigid temperatures. It tends to run a little small, especially through the chest so if you are a a true medium you may have to order a large. Otherwise a beautiful jacket!!

Exceeds Expectations
Provides great warmth for how light it is. This has been my go-to jacket for almost a year now. Tremendous quality! Great for most Seattle days October through April. I'm 5'11" 170 and the M fits great. Use on its own most days. Layer under a shell and you won't need anything else.

Great fit, perfect for moderate cold
I'm a true medium and this jacket fits me perfectly. It's not too baggy and has more of a tailored fit, though I wouldn't call it slim. It's perfect for as cold as it gets here in Southern California, but you would probably want something heavier for really cold weather. Or at least some serious sweater and/or thermal beneath.

SUPER LIGHT AND SUPER WARM JACKET.
This jacket is super light and super warm. It's so lightweight that you hardly even notice you're wearing it yet it's so warm that it'll make you sweat unless it's more than just slightly cold. Seems to be typical high quality Outdoor Research construction. Like it a-lot.

Nice Jacket
So far so good. I just got this jacket and I like it a lot. Let's see how warm it is over the next few days in Denver when the High on Tues is supposed to be -1. It's not too puffy and I like that is doesn't have a michelin man look to it.

A Great Mid-Layer
I've only had the jacket a month, but I really like it so far. I bought the jacket to use as a mid-layer while snow skiing in Colorado over Christmas, and it worked great. I wore it under a shell while skiing and it provided plenty of warmth. I appreciated that it was very lightweight but still provided a lot of warmth.
It seems to provide adequate warmth when it's anywhere from 20-50 degrees F outside, making it very versatile. Especially when used with a wind/water proof shell, it gives great warmth in the winter. It's also very very convenient for camping and hiking, as it folds up into one of the pockets as a Stuff Sack.
Overall, I'd rate this jacket very high. It's warm without being too hot, lightweight and not bulk, and seems to be high-quality.

Ok but has a pesty collar
Maybe I am the first to wear this jacket. It seemed obvious when I put it on that the collar was annoying. It's designed to be a popup collar. It doesn't fold down. And my basic question is if this is a mid-layer, why would you really even need a collar? But supposing there is a need for one, then why can't it neatly fold away when not needed? What happens is you either zip up and the collar pops up or you leave the jacket open and then the collar still wants to stay up and the ends of the collar jut out and poke you in the throat in a really annoying way. This is why I speculated that I was the first person the wear the jacket, because I noticed it immediately. So anyway what I do is tuck the collar underneath the top of the jacket to get it out of the way. It might look silly but at that point it becomes a serviceable jacket. It's light, warm, and I like it a lot otherwise.

A Great Insulating Layer
Bought it for everyday use under a rain shell, as well as an extra layer to throw in a pack for skiing. Only complaint - 0 pit zips. It has been great on the 1st purpose and I think it will be great for the 2nd. Well built, perfect amount of insulation, and light like it isn't there. The fleece around the collar is nice, and the shell material sheds light rain and wind (and I know light rain in Seattle). It is a touch shinier than the web picture makes it appear. The velcro at the wrists is great (TNF's Redpoint jacket has elastic). I am 6'2" and 190 lbs and the L is just a hair short in the arms (but less so than a lot of jackets - I have ape-ish arms). Poor performance ...aka warmth!
I orderd this coat because it was cheaper than the Mtn Hardware version and because I am a huge fan of OR Gloves and Hats! I recieved the jacket and took it to a local store to compare it to the MH jacket. The construction was great and I like the chest pocket. However The MH jacket is so much warmer. Definitely worth the $40 dollars more! So I returned the jacket to altrec and order the MH jacket through Altrec. The return/exchange was really painless and very quick. I do recommend OR gloves and Hats! So I recommend the mountain Hardwarer Compressor PL jacket over the OR jacket hands down! Altrec is great and will support your purchasing and exchanges needs with excellent customer service.

Not exactly what i was looking for
The outer material had a really high sheen like a trash bag. Not to say that the product was not well made it was just not what i was looking for. Looks to be more for Kayaking or boating.

Very well suited for my needs
Surprisingly warm and easy to wear/stash. Quite a few details on the jacket that show it has been well thought out. I gave it 4 instead of 5 because I've only been using it for a month, though I don't think durability will be an issue.

Not as insulated as appears in arms. Liked the Marmot TR6 better, gotta have pit zips.

So Far So Good
Wow! Was kind of skeptical about the primaloft "insulating when wet" theory. Its true! Took this jacket out on the boat last week and it was chilly out. Repeatedly ran over some big wakes in my 13ft Boston Whaler and the Neoplume Jacket got soaked after a while. I thought for sure I was about to freeze my butt off, but it kept me warm all day. I was shocked. Next test for this jacket is the AT! So far 5 stars! Awesome insulation!

very versatile, toasty but not bulky.
It's very versatile and toasty, but not bulky. I wear it alone or midlayer in very cold day. but it needs some venting, sometimes it's too hot...

Great Jacket
This jacket is very warm and very nice looking. It is not too puffy for an insulated jacket, it's great for around town as well as under a shell skiing. It packs well and the DWR finish helps keep light rain and snow from penetrating the jacket. I am very broad shouldered and the XL fits perfectly.

Very Motorcycle friendly
I wear this jacket under my thin leather motorcycle jacket. Sizes are true to fit. My only dislike is that you can't adjust the collar. Body heat escapes from around the neck as well as wind going down the jacket from the wide neck opening. If the collar was adjustable so you could cinch it down around your neck, that would be great. I wear a scarf and that seals the neck opening and traps my body heat inside the jacket and makes me toasty warm. The thin design of the jacket makes it perfect for motorcyclists since there is no bulk. You can easily store this in your saddlebags. I love the fact that it takes up such a small space. At 50 degrees on a bike, I get really really warm sitting at lights waiting for the signal change. I guess I should not wear the thermals underneath my long sleeve shirt with this jacket on when it is around 50 degrees. If you don't want to have to layer and take off items when you go inside, this is the jacket for you. When you first put it on and go outside when it is cold, you will be cold until your body heat warms up the jacket. It is best to preheat before going outside. Once preheated, you are good to go. I get cold very easy and this jacket is my new best friend.

This is a great jacket!
I have been able to wear this jacket without a shell so far. This coldest so far being a wind chill of 11 or so. It is very light weight and easy to move around in, but doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a life vest. I'd buy it again!

Decent jacket for the money. Not extremely warm.
Pretty decent jacket. seem to like it the more I wear it. Used it while belaying on a rather chilly day and it did fine. I am 6'1" with a medium build and I bought a medium, but it does not fit snug. The sleeve and the jacket are baggy, would have been better if it were a true fit. I am sure it will hold up pretty well when I snowboard. Decent jacket for the price.

Light and packable
This is a very light and packable jacket. You can even wear another jacket over it if you want to. However, it is a little unforgiving in the chest area, but if you have a slender build, then it would fit you perfectly.

Try this instead of fleece
I love this jacket. The Primaloft Insulation is light weight but toasty warm.Its also very low bulk so putting it in the pack means all my other stuff has enough room to party! I wear this jacket instead of fleece when I'm layering. Midweight Capilene, the Neoplume and a good Hardshell and I'm ready for the backcountry.

Very Warm
This jacket looks sharp and keeps you very warm. I wore it out on the slopes in Breckenridge in March when the temps were around 20 F. I used the OR Zealot as a shell and was only wearing 2 polyester base layers beneath. I stayed very warm and dry. The jacket also looked stylish out on the town. The Neoplume weighs less than the Patagonia Puffball and the Mountain Hardware Chugach and probably insulates just as well (it also looks better). I highly recommend it.
