Great Price to stay dry
Not breathable but with the pit zippers it will keep you cool enough on those days not about 75. Great waterproofing and fully welded seams! Great jacket for living in cooler areas where it tends to rain when you want to play outside! Awesome fit and cooler fitting hoody!

Great Outdoor Reasearch Rampart Jacket
I bought this jacket for my brother who needed an outdoor spring/summer full season outdoor jacket. He is on the tall (6'1") and thin ( 168#s) side. This jacket fits him perfectly. Looks customer tailored, and handles the changing weather in Seattle very nicely. It can handle a sweater underneath if need be, and has side vents to accomodate a warming trend, if that should occur.
It's light weight and packs into a very small package for packing.
The hood is attached and easy to snug around your head and face if the weather calls for it.
I love Outdoor Reseach Coats. They are of superior quality and very durable.

Great Light Weight Jacket
I am a fisherman and I use this rain jacket everyday on the boat. It is a great light weight jacket. It fits well and is big enough to wear enough layers underneath to keep warm.

Good shell for a great price.
Having worn this for around a month now, I'm pleased I decided on this jacket over a few others i was looking at. The fit is somewhat loose, at 5'10" 130lbs: I know I'm thin, and there is a little more room inside a small than I'd prefer for warm weather use, but it gives me the option of wearing it over my down coat in wet snow and cold-weather camping. The side zips extend all the way down the coat, allowing for any number of ventilation options with a pack/harness/whatever. The hood vent is real neat, if not critical, and the seam sealing and inner waterproof coating are flawless. It packs into its left front pocket, keeps you dry, and looks real good as well. My only complaint other than the sizing(more of a compromise than a complaint) is that the hood doesn't extend over your face at all and fails to keep your hair/face dry, but again not that big of a deal. Very happy with it.

I use this jacket for my short, seemingly always wet, bike commute to and from work in Seattle. It holds up great to the wind and wet conditions and packs up small for the always welcome, and increasingly more frequent, sunny, warm weather that has been greeting us in the evenings. It's not breathable at all but does have full zippers (armpit to hip bone) on either side making for a quick solution. Overall its a great jacket and worth much more than priced.

good jacket for the price
I recently picked up the OR Rampart jacket. I was looking for a lightweight raincoat at a reasonable price, and thats just what this is. It runs a bit on the larger size, especially thru the midsection. I was able to wear it this past weekend in a light steady rain and it performed very well. Certainly not top of the line but for the price its a good buy.

Good Rain & Wind Jacket, though Not Breathable
I'm glad I bought this jacket. It works well as a raincoat, and as an outer shell that effectively blocks fairly strong wind. The only minor drawbacks for me:
1. Not breathable. To be fair, from the mfr description, I did not expect it to be breathable. Accurate description: "no moisture gets through protecting you from the heaviest downpours". So, of course, not surprising that little or no moisture gets out either.
This may not be an issue for many, but I tend to sweat profusely - especially when snowshoeing & cross-country skiiing in rough terrains. The design offers some workarounds (e.g. side vents), but these can be impractical if wind/rain protection is lost.
2. The "Single-pull hood adjustment" at the back of the hood is not as useful - for me - as a more common draw cord to close the opening around the face (& accessible near the neck) would be.
Overall: very useful garment at a fair price.

Amazing Product
I recently went for an overnight trek in the Sierra Nevadas and expected rain. Wow! Am I glad I purchased the Rampart Jacket by Outdoor Research. Not only did it keep me dry when it was cold and pouring down rain, it breathed well enough to keep my glasses from fogging up and from being uncomfortable, but kept enough warmth in to be an excellent trail jacket for the rain. The velcro that sealed the zipper away from the rain was just enough to keep the water out, but not so that it was difficult to get out of. The seams are all sealed and do not leak. Waterproof! That's the way to go. Two thumbs up!

Love it but it runs big! Great for the
I got this for my man's upcoming fishing trip, and he always gets things a little big so I got the XL. That's the size he gets for just about everything - t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets - so I figured it would be like everything else and fit a little loose as he prefers, and be otherwise fine, especially as an outer layer. He put it on, and the sleeves were way long! As an above-average height woman, I'm used to things being too short so this was a nice change and I'm looking forward to getting one for myself. So, if you're getting one and torn between two sizes, you might want to err on the side of conservatism and get the smaller size. You'll probably be pleased you did. Everything else about the jacket looks perfect: pit-zips go from bicep to the waist, so you can poncho out, be breezy, and still stay dry; all seams are beautifully taped, so it looks (although official trials are on hold until we get the right size) like it will be completely watertight, and it is very light. I was surprised when I picked up the package just how light it was. I also haven't tried to see how small it will stuff down to, since I don't want to crinkle the one that's being returned. All in all, a good purchase, and the price is right! I can't wait to update after we find out the real results of wearing it in a good rain.

Great Affordable Jacket
Got the jacket and was excited to see how it worked, put it under the facet and it kept arm completely dry. When I took the jacket out into the rain and wind it was great didn't have any issue with it getting wet on the inside from my sweat or the rain. sleeves plenty long and I am a 6'5" guy. I would say that the body could be a tiny bit longer but hard to find anything that fits perfectly at my height. This is a great jacket if you are looking to not break the bank.

Great Spring / Rain Jacket
I bought this jacket for both spring skiing and summer backpacking. It is lightweight and packs down very small. Great quality and perfect for both spring skiing and keeping me dry in the rain. Only complaint is that it runs a little big.

nice jacket...would probably buy again.
I really like the feel and comfort of OR products. This is not an exception. Jacket in the XL is a little tight if you are wearing a fleece or outerlayer, whereas I have several Northface products and they are more rightsized. The quality of the OR is well made. It would be nice to have a self-pouch so the jacket could fold up into itself in your pack when not in use.

Great product, great price
For the price, this is an amazingly well designed jacket. Ventilation in both the hood and pit zips that zip all the way down the side (great for rainy but extremely hot days) as well as an outer pocket. Only downside is no internal pocket.

Nice product. I would recommend it.
What I liked about this product is that it is light weight and easy to pack either in a briefcase or a backpack. It seems well made. A lot of attention to detail from what I could see. I do not know if it is fully water proof in a heavy downpour, but I suspect so, if the seems are sealed.

wow. best rain jacket for cheap price
seriously, it's no-nonsense as the description says. Continued to be impressed with OR's quality/price ratio. If you're looking for an everyday jacket that's light, keeps you dry, and has great ventilation - look no further. and the sizing is true to what is stated.
