These pants are a very high quality piece of raingear, especially for the popup afternoon storm. I bought them for a week of backpacking on the Appalachian Trail and they really did the job. The sizing is generous and fits nicely over other pants. I originally tried on my normal size and then a size larger. I recommend ordering your standard size as they are designed with layering in mind. Like the other Outdoor Research products I own, I am very happy with these pants.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Quality but small through the hips

Bought these for rain pants for my husband. Great fit except through his muscular thighs...fine for walking, but he feels they're too snug for climbing. Sending back and will be ordering the XXL.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: tighter fit in thighsQuality pant

I am a fan of OR clothing. These pants are great for the money. I am 5'8" and the medium is a bit long in the leg but I am right in between sizes so I am used to it. I have owned more expensive pants that were more comfortable but I am happy with these for the price. OR makes quality products overall.

Great snowshoeing pants
January 02, 2011
Really like the pants for snowshoeing. They kill the wind and when I'm done my legs are nice and chill--not cold and not sweating! I have used them a few times now in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and have been surprised by the quality. There are semi-adhesive elastic bands on the waist and at each cuff. Also, each cuff can be tightened in the front using a piece of string and the two loops (at least that is what I use the loops for!) If I ever feel the need, there are suspender loops as well.

As a trail guide these are great.

I currently work as a trail guide and northing is more terrible than wearing constantly wet clothes for days on end. These Rampart Pants have kept my pants dry in all kinds of rainy weather. I strongly suggest getting these!
Excellent Packable Rain Panr
January 31, 2011
I keep this pant packed in my backpack for those unpredictable rain storms either on a hike, or even walking to work. The full zip feature is a must and makes taking them on and off extremely easy and convenient when you are on the go (especially if you have boots on). I was originally going to go with a goretex type of rain pant, but so far these have more than met my needs in light-heavy rain conditions in mild and even colder climates. In fact, with a few base layers, you could probably use these as a snow/ski pant. They are also quite breathable, I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, great, rugged, durable all purpose product that will last me a lifetime.

True to Form

Bought these for climbing Mt. Shasta and the Rampart pants performed as an outer layer, keeping my legs dry and warm over layers. Highly recommended essential gear.
