Men's Revel Jacket 4.9 5 16 16
highly recommended I've worn this jacket for several months now in a variety of weather conditions. It's highly versatile. Paired with a layering garment it's good in wet, cold conditions. But it's also pretty breathable and won't cause you to overheat during exertion or warmer weather. The best features are the zip in hood and the zippered ventilation. These features set it apart from most of the competing brands and really add to the versatility of the jacket. It's nice to have the hood zipped up and out of the way during dry conditions. And the pit zips are great for high output activities. I'm really happy with this jacket. I recommend it - highly. August 16, 2011
Revel great so far Great purchase so far. The revel is living up to reviews I've read thus far providing excellent water and wind protection. Can't beat the zippers and the many modes like "poncho" style is a fantastic feature. The test will be if it holds up over time but so far so good. July 17, 2011
A Best Rain Jacket. This is a review of outdoor research Revel Jacket. First of all I love outdoor research products, so I hope my review isn’t so biased. Since the time I started to look for a rain jacket, Outdoor Research Revel jacket was a frost runner. By the way, I love Outdoor Research, Rab , and Mammut. I had checked North Face one and Marmot Precip jacket, but they didn’t click with me. I also looked into Mountain Hardwear one. I had tried them at a local outdoor shop. Pros 1. Fabric is just excellent. I checked Outdoor research ramport jacket and pants. But the shininess of ramport pants and jackets is much more, so I didn't see them as cool. 2. First thing you notice is how light it is. It weights nothing. Then the compact into a small footprint. This compactness itself is a huge advantage for traveling or a daily life because you can put that into any decent bag or backpack. One thing I wasn't sure is its size. I usually wear size L or XL. So I ordered size L. My height is 5 feet 11 and weight is 170 pounds. Size M. might have been better, but not sure. June 25, 2011
Great Light/Stylish Rain Gear Love the cut on this, works with wide shoulders well. Bought a Large and occassionally they don't work but this has plenty of space and still looks like it fits right. Haven't tried it in the rain but impressed with the zipper seams and the hood is nice too. Pockets were a little strange at first, vertical zippers that are easier to open from the opposite side. Overall I'm really pleased with my order. December 5, 2010
Great Lightweight Rain Jacket The jacket is perfect for Spring-Summer-Fall. Lightweight and packable. The OR jacket is waterproof and made very well. September 2, 2010
Great lightweight jacket The Outdoor Research Revel Jacket is the type of weatherproof jacket I have been searching for. It is waterproof and breathable. I use for hiking in Adirondacks, it is such comfortable fit I have been wearing as casual jacket. August 30, 2010
Nice Rain gear Side zippers are great. Very nice looking jacket for the price. Unfortunately for me, I am really picky with colors so I had to return mine. Otherwise, very good rain jacket! August 10, 2010
Feels good I am always trying to find the optimal intersection of price and comfort. Cheaper rain gear I have had in the past always became clammy to the point of unwearable. I decided to advance my price point a little higher for this jacket, hoping I might actually enjoy wearing it. Fortunately, the material is pliable and closer to cloth than plastic. It has lots of zips to add additional breathability. I have only worn it about town in some good downpours and it has proved viable. Durability report will be pending a trip up to Colorado this summer. However, overall construction feels sturdy. I certainly can't comment on a $500+ rain shell, but this jacket seems to be about as good as I would want... so far. June 10, 2010
Great Product. Nice Price. With the Revel, Outdoor Research delivers a high quality waterproof/breathable jacket at a moderate price. I'm 5'10" 155 lbs., if you like more of a form fit, the 'S' works quite nicely while having some room for warm base layers underneath. The fabric feel (and sound) is soft - unlike most other jackets in it's category. Highly recommended. April 3, 2010
Practical rainwear This jacket is the best casual/hiking rain jacket I have found. The best part of it is that the hood folds away and cannot be seen until needed. It also has pit zips to let in the air if it is humid and hot. Not the biggest fan of the new colors this year (I preferred the solid colors) but the black worked well for me. If you are looking for a no nonsense rain jacket that keeps the water away but does not break the bank, this is the jacket for you. Sizing is a bit big, but this allows you to layer warm clothes underneath. March 1, 2010
Keeps you warm and dry without bulk I bought this jacket for my husband to get through the humid, rainy, and colder-than-usual Houston winter. He loves the jacket. It's light weight and resists water and rain. Also, even though the jacket isn't bulky at all, it's still roomy enough for layering underneath. February 17, 2010
High quality and light weight I use this jacket for backpacking because it is really lightweight and packs up really small, yet it did a marvelous job of keeping me dry on a two week trip around the rainy Pacific northwest. It is seems surprisingly durable for its weight. I especially like the collar. It is tall, sturdy, and lined with a soft fabric, so you don't feel a cold, clammy, plastic jacket up against your neck. January 29, 2010
Great light weight jacket for wind and rain I tested it out in Philadelphia over the New Year Holiday. Worked great and kept me warm as an outer layer in wind and snow. January 6, 2010
Great light weight jacket. I purchased it in black. Great for traveling. Versatile. Packable. May 25, 2009
Quality light weight storm jacket I was attracted to this jacket because of its quality construction and that the hood zipped into the collar which is hard to find on light weight jackets these days. Collar stands relatively high which is good for windy and cool conditions. Excellent ventilation. Nice fit and finish. Very packable, not bulky. April 8, 2009
Good Jacket/ Great ventilation Exactly what I was looking for in a lightweight rain jacket with ventilation. Athletic fit. A good purchase. February 19, 2009
