The wide brim and fabric of this hat work well to keep your glasses dry and no rain down your neck. Fit is good and adjustable with a built-in elastic draw string. Chin tie is great for windy weather. I would recommend this hat.

I love wearing this hat when it's wet and rainy out. It is waterproof and has a wide brim, which is important for me because I hate getting raindrops on my glasses. You can also keep the sides of the brim up with the side snaps, which work better than velcro in my opinion. The chin strap is tied onto the side loops, so if you want you can remove it. Also you can adjust the fit so it's nice and snug on your head. Another well-designed hat from Outdoor Research.

Had to do so quick covering of equipment during a heavy spring rain. Grabbed the new hat at the last second and was glad I did. Kept my head and glasses dry - the rest of me was soaked!

As a balding male, I'm always in search of the perfect hat. The Nimbus Sombrero Hat is it. I initially purchased the yellow one, I can see why it was on sale. I exchanged it for the java color. The first rain storm showed how waterproof the fabric was, it was great. The brim is perfect and the quality is excellent. The removable chin strap is a good idea. This is a well thought out design. I'm going to buy a light colored sun hat for trips on the river this summer.

This hat has all the features I want, and it performed admirably in a drenching rainstorm. What's best: I got it for a great price, presumably owing to its offbeat, but otherwise pleasing (mustard)color. No need to hold a folded umbrella aloft for my colleagues to find me in a crowd.

Wore this hat recently while climbing in Scotland during mostly rainy&windy weather. It was perfectly waterproof, breathed well and consequently didn't cause my head to over-heat.The cinch to tighten the circumference/crown and the back-up chin strap prevented the hat from being blown off by 50 mph gusts. Loved the option of snapping up one side to reduce wind resistance.Also, during a cold storm, I pulled my hood up over the hat with the brim on the windward side dropped down as protection against the stinging sleet. Although I didn't need additional warmth, I could have fit a light weight fleece cap inside the crown. I also liked the fact that it could have doubled as sun hat if the need arose.I'm ordering one to send as a gift to a new friend we met from England who envied my hat. I figure who knows more about rainproof hats that a hiker from the UK?

And yeah, it FIT! One size does not fit all. So glad that some hat companies have noticed that and are making sized headgear. (I am a woman. Very little stuff for women is sized.)
BTW, I work outside as a tour guide. A colleague recommended this hat. I only wish I had taken her advice sooner in the tour season.

I kayak, hike and backpack and this is one of the best hats especially being water proof! I like the fact that it has a wide rim that provides shade from the sun and rain off your face. Plus I like the bright colors as it's easy for someone to spot you if necessary.

I bought this hat for myself last year when we were out x-c skiing in the rain--with it on I didn't even know it was raining any more. My husband was jealous so I just bought one from Altrec for his birthday. I've worn it once for running--worked great for that too. I like the way the hat looks, its light weight, the ability to cinch the crown snugger if needed, and the chin strap that prevents the hat from flying off in wind. I'm not normally a hat person (usually wear ear bands or visors), but I definitely don't mind wearing this one!
I've had a hard time finding this hat for my husband locally--Seattle Sombrero is much easier to find--so I was very glad to see Altrec carried it and at such a great price. Shipping was FAST!

I would like a little taller crown but it is just a matter of looks. Well made. Wide brim for sun and rain cover. Brim retains shape well. Wife made it clear if I don't wear it she will. Holds it own in wind. Haven't had it out in heavy wind or rain yet. It has a broader brim that the sahale sombrero that I have already. Was looking for a cooler summer hat with same rain and sun protection qualities and this hat fits the bill.

I already had a Seattle Sombrero for the winter, so I grabbed a Nimbus for the summer. I wore it on vacation in Hawaii and it saved me from the scorching sun and wind of the tropics. Nothing bothered me when I had on this hat. Even when we were hiking in the volcanoes national park and the ash was falling, the hat was great. I even looked cool in the pictures my wife took, a rare feat. If you need a hot weather, full coverage hat, this is the one to get.

I already have a Seattle Sombrero and it works great in the winter, so I was looking for something to wear that would be equally good in the summer. I got the Nimbus Sombrero and the day after I got it, my walk to work was in a downpour that was soaking everything and everyone in sight. Lucky for me, I had my Sombrero on my head and the water rolled right off with no problem. It works better than described and I have no complaints. The snaps are easy to use and the cordlock headband adjustment works like a charm. Definitely a must have if you need a light, effective hat to keep the rain and sun off of you when its hot.

The Nimbus in yellow is bold, but for the price, a heck of a bargain. It kept me dry during 2 days of med. rain and the now I don't have to worry about bringing my hooded rain gear. The only issue is the loose/frumpy fitting at the upper portions of the hat past the headband. It would have gotten a 5 star rating otherwise. (I used the recommended sizing from OR)

The waterproof material and the broad rim makes this a light and versatile hat for both rainy and sunny weather. The adjustable strap helped to ensure a good fit, the chin strap helped to prevent the hat from flying away in windy conditions. Only wished that the rim was a tad wider to block the oblique sun rays in the late afternoon.

The Nimbus works quite well and looks good too. My only complaints have to do with the elastic cord system which insures a tight fit. First, there is a hole in the back of the hat that this cord travels through to the outside. Second there is a little flap over the hole to prevent rain from pooring in, but this flap is sewn onto the hat and the stitching is not taped on the inside. Water does wick through the stitching. I'm sure very few will be concerned by either, but these are my comments.

I hate this hat - the brim falls down in front of my eyes, blocking my view. I tried for hours to bend the brim up, but it won't stay up. I hate it.
