I was looking for a hat to wear while watching my son's baseball games. This one is perfect! I like the fact that it is packable and looks great when I pull it out of my backpack.

Bends in the center of the visor for easy packability. I have an average sized head (I think) and the medium fits nice & snug which is what I want so a breeze doesn't send it sailing. Very lightweight. Makes me look way cool.

I purchased two of these hats, both the same size, in different colors. I based my choice on the sizing chart as well as previous experience with OR hats in this style. Both hats arrive perfectly from altrec, but one of them is too small. It says the proper size on the tag, but fits wrong...the other one is fine and fits as expected. I have not contacted OR yet, and I'm sure they'll help me solve the problem. These seam like quality hats. They are lightweight, comfortable, and are quality constructed. The bill is significantly shorter than an average baseball hat, so beware prior to puchase if this is your preference. I thought so based on the pictures on this site, but it is still worth mention.

Sharp looking hat. The XL fit my 7 1/2 size head perfectly and the foldable bill works great to keep the shape when the hat is lying under a pile of stuff.

I have a 22.75 inch head circumference and I choose the Medium. It fits only because I have my head shaved. If in between sizes I would recommend choosing the next size up. This is an excellent cap and provides great sun protection for my cranium. It also has great style and design. The folding bill feature is perfect for travel.

Purchased this hat on sale and honestly didn't expect to love it this much! It's highly breathable in both warm and cold conditions, lightweight, and due to the folding rim it can be easily stashed in your inner jacket pocket or backpack. Build quality is pretty rugged and there's an inner loop for tethering or hanging it if needed. Military green color matches well with most of my gear. Great hat @ a fair price. Thanks Altrec!

This hat is about the lightest hat I have found for warm weather. You can actually wear it in humid temps, unlike most cotton hats. It is super light. I tried on a small size and it was too small, so I got a medium, which was a little large for my head and all. However, what I did was wet the band on the inside of the hat and then tossed it in the old dryer, and when I got it out it fit perfectly. I bought almost every color, and my girlfriend said I was crazy, but she doesn't know anything about hats. What you need to be for this hat is a hat person, or at least have some interest in hats. And so, I decided to keep the hat and get rid of my girlfriend, since we obviously didn't have an important element of our relationship in common, and she wasn't understanding my needs as an individual. Needless to say, I am single now but extremely happy with my hats.

Pretty much as described. Bill folds easily and the hat can fit in your pocket. Seems like good quality. I ordered an XL and it fit much bigger than OR's Sun Runner in XL.

Hike in this hat. Run in this hat. Teach in this hat. Awesome fit, great style, perfect weight. Hook on inside is great for hanging up. Hat folds/collapses for packing ease (you can throw it in a backpack and it emerges hours later looking like new).

I wasn't sure what to expect with this hat...I usually order hats that are adjustable, since I have a rather small-ish head and hats that are sized generally don't fit as well as I would like. I ordered a medium, but probably should have gotten a small...Other than not ordering the correct size (totally MY fault), I have no complaints on the hat what-so-ever. As opposed to other hats, this one actually keeps my head COOL, not to mention that the visor is just big enough to keep the sun out of my eyes but not obstruct my view of the world. I am actually planning on ordering another one for myself, as well as my boyfriend, as he loved it even more than I did!

My job requires lifting 600-800 postal bags every night in a hot environment. The Radar pocket hat allows me to accomplish my job by keeping sweat out my eyes while letting bodyheat escape and keeping sooty dust out of my hair. I rinse it in water and it dries quickly. I recommend this hat to anyone that like a stylish hat that...is technical, comes in many colors, and durable.

I travel extensively- both business and adventure. And end up in a lot of hot climates, showing up straight from the plane to an event, going hiking a lot, etc. In other words, need a hat that is comfy and stylish and not a pain. Because of the genius fold in the bill- this hat is amazing- fold it in a tiny packet and stuff in a pocket- presto. Pull out and put it on- not wrinkled. presto. Gotten lots of compliments on what a cool hat it is. This product is definitely a winner.

I've got a ton of hair and a large head for a girl, I was so happy to find a great hat in XL. I got the hat in green, it has a slight military look to it when on (maybe just me). I havn't put it through much yet but it keeps my head cool in the Louisiana heat (just started though). I think it'll hold it's own. Packs in a bag without losing shape.

folds right into a pocket when not in use and provides ample eye protection in the sun. Lighter colors stay much cooler, absorb less heat. Hat dries instantly with lightweight fabric. Great design for backpacking!

Love how it folds up and easily fits in my pack. Great hat, this is my second one, I lost my first which I had for several years. I wear a small and it fits great. I don't usually look good in hats, most of them are too big but the smaller sized bill looks great.

This is just a great hat, in my opinion. I usually have trouble wearing hats because, often, they are too stiff and cause me headaches. This hat is very lightweight--almost feather-light. The large fits my 23" circumference (approx. 7 3/8) head slightly loosely. It could probably stand to be a bit tighter. It doesn't look sloppy, but I believe it could possibly blow off in a strong wind. Size yours accordingly. However, as I've mentioned, it's very comfortable and it still looks nice. A really nice feature is the ability to fold the brim in half, making the hat very pocketable. Despite this, and its light weight, the hat retains its shape nicely when worn. It also seems very durable and well-made. Also adding to the comfort is the very soft, absorbent, sweat-wicking band. For the price, it really can't be beat. I am looking forward to trying a couple of other hats from Outdoor Research. I highly recommend this one.

Very good. Beautiful design. Light. Everything is good. Then there are drawbacks. Difficult to fit the size of because there is flexibility. In either tall or short one. The downside to this point should not regulate is the size.

Maybe I didn't measure my head correctly, but it said I needed a large, but I opted for the medium instead. That seemed to work perfectly because this cap sits on my head without coming off all the time and without restricting brain circulation. I got the black checkered version. Watch out a bit, the nylon's somewhat of a dust magnet. Can't be helped. I took this hat out for a quick five miler the other day and it kept all the sweat out of my eyes. Inside band was soaking, but the outside was mildly moist. The short bill is still surprisingly effective at blocking sun and if the bill length was your worry, then worry no more.

I keep this cap in my shoulder bag in case it gets too sunny. With the UPF 30+ sun protection it's great for that. The folding brim is ingenious, you can fold the cap so that it takes up very little space... I've seen wallets bigger than this. But when it's unfolded, it's a normal-sized cap. Very clever.

I love this cap. I am female and have a large head, so must search the men's hats for XL. This cap, although being a man's cap, certainly makes me feel great! It is soft, allows for circulation, but keeps my hair in place while being out in the wind on my bike or walking. It is comfortable, but the best thing is that it looks great! I have it in Cardinal and in Black. I highly recommend....can tell it is very durable as well!

This hat is so comfortable, feels so great on! Keeps the sun off my head! Even the color black does not feel hot under the sun, because the material is soooooooo wonderful and lightweight. I wear size large, with a 23 1/4 measurement. Perfect sizing.

I've got a big noggin so I was excited to see they sell an XL. Received that and it was too big so returned it for a Large. Unfortunately the Large was too small. Appears to be a huge difference between sizes (at least the ones I received). With that said, other than the sizing issue, the hat is awesome. Super lightweight, folds and fits into your pocket easily and well constructed.

I have tried lots of hats for walking/running and this one is very good. I have a big head and the hat was actually larger than my head. Very unexpected. It holds a fair amount of sweat and washed/air dried easily. I will buy another.

I had been looking for months for a replacement for my old dirty baseball style running hat when I stumbled on the Altrec Outdoor Research Pocket Cap. I immediately bought two of them (red & olive green) and liked them so much that I bought two more (blue & khaki). Simply stated they are; colorful, warm, stylish and the kicker is that you can pop the hat in your pocket when you enter an office, building or house and therefor not lose or misplace it. I have received many positive compliments as regards the caps "looks" which is also a plus. I highly reccommend these caps with the only caveat being that you accurately measure your head for size before ordering to insure proper fit.

I keep this hat in the pocket of my jacket since I bought it. I do not like wearing hats, so most of the time, I do not use it. But it's there when I need it: when walking for longer time on a sunny day or for a short brisk walk in the rain, say, between the car and a building that everybody must make sometimes. The hat has a good feel when I do wear it: it's of neutral khaki color, lightweight yet substantial, fits nicely, and holds strong (I used the sizing chart, which worked well for me). The only issue that could be improved is that slight wrinkles are visible after the long stay in the pocket. But I would probably be asking for too much...

Lightweight, effective sun protection. Just bought my third (one I just wore to death and it's barely hanging on, and my dog ate the other). Really does fold small enough to fit in your pocket. Good on trail, good at bar.

I love the hat, its very light and comfortable and the way it folds up will be perfect for travel. However, I bought the small and it was bit too large and there is no elastic or adjustment. I attempted to wash and dry it on hot to shrink it, seemed to work some. After washing and drying the hat looks absolutely like new. I like that feature!

I have to say this is a great hat...I bought the first one for my husband. He loved it, and since then I have purchased one for my Dad, brother and myself. It is a great hat to fit in a backpack or pocket with the folding bill, super light, dries off fast...all around it is great!! I got a small, my husband a med. size!

This hat is excellent! Kept me cool and shaded during desert hiking. When I took it off, there was some moisture inside, but it couldn't be seen at all from the outside. It's nice to have a hat made of performance materials that is good looking too. I bought two, and I'm sure they'll be put to good use for a long time.

I wear a 7 1/4 fitted baseball hat and the M fit perfect. The L was a bit too loose for me. The material used is very lightweight and collapsible brim was an innovative design. I am able to fold this up and stuff it in a backpack w/o concerns of it coming out mangled. I would definitely recommend this hat.

I like this hat!!! I took to fishing and hiking so far. It really light and sweat will dry out fast. I order the size too big for me. That's the only regret. Probably it's true to the size and it won't shrink. When I order different color next time I'll get perfect size. By the way, I fixed the size myself.

I bought this hat to save my face from the sun on the trail. Not only is it light as a feather, but it folds into my pocket so that I barely notice it's there. I would recommend this hat to anyone who wants style with performance. Get this hat when you buy a bunch of stuff as it is so affordable. Make sure you get the right size. I have a pretty big head, and getting the extra large was definitely the right choice.

This hat is light weight and VERY comfortable. It folds up nicely if you want to take it off and put it in a backpack or in a large pocket like on mens cargo shorts. Great product!

I took this hat to Europe wanting to avoid wearing the usual baseball cap. It was comfortable, stylish and versatile. The crease in the brim makes it even more easy to carry around without having to worry about cracking the brim. My wife liked it so much, I got one for her for Mother's Day.

The Radar Pocket hat from OR is just what I've been looking for. I like hats with a bill to shade my eyes while enjoying my outdoor hobby of photography. The problem with most hats in this style is that I keep knocking them off as I peer into the eyepiece of my DLSR camera. The Radar Pocket hat however has a nice high arch in the bill which allows me to compose an image without knocking the hat off my head. The fact that the bills folds allowing the hat to easily fit into my camera bag is a big plus.

Love the hat. It's usually difficult to get a hat that fits my small head, but this one fits well. I bought it in khaki and would buy more if it came in some more neutral colors. I gave it a 4 instead of 5 for the color selection.

I really like this hat! My husband and I both have one. I have an average sized head and the medium fits well, he has a hard time finding hats that fit due to a small head and this hat in a size small fits perfect. Great hat for outdoor adventures. Looks stylish on. Would highly reccomend!

I was stoked to find this hat amidst all the other sombrero types and normal style baseball hats. Best part about it is the folding brim. Crunch's right up and into my pocket when it gets to hot on the trail and need to air out a bit. The cut of the hat is good, not great. Kinda gets in the way of your glasses a bit, but not enough to give it a negative review or not reco it. This hat is a winner. Hopefully they will improve the fit of it eventually, but it's the best I found.

I don't know how this hat both fit and looked amazing on my boyfriend (now I want one for myself!), but after long searching for a hat he would like this one was perfect. He doesn't like tight hats, and the large was great. He has been self concious about other hats and how they look, but he won't take this one off. THe packability and durable, water resistant fabric are bonuses. I think we'll be purchasing more!

I'm not much of a hat wearer; but there are times when the sun is just too much or that Mother Nature drops a bucket of rain on my space. The rocket hat is perfect for me. With the folding bill, it can be stored easily in my pack. I espcially liked being able to order a size small; most hats are just too large for my head. Most importantly, it is light and stylish with great colors, has a UPF 30 rating and is rain resistant.

A nice change-up to the ball cap. Packs well in backpack pockets and back pockets. Slides easily into more tightly packed luggage too. The shorter brim has made this an ideal painter's cap. Mine fits slightly loose, so no tension headaches, but not the best on windy days. All-in-all, a nice everyday cap.

Got this hat after reading all the positive reviews for it. I have a small head and could never find that perfect hat BUT this hat is the one. Its great for any outdoor activities being that it is lightweight, spf, and can fold up into your pack, and pocket. It is also stylish so you can where it out on the town as well! All around great hat.
