Rando Cap 4 5 26 26
Good comfort & warm cap Cap is a good quality. It's enough warm & in bitter cold to wear it well with a raised hood (of jacket / parka). Breathable GORE-TEX is fine. But there are some problems with the size. I was chose XL size, but it not comfortable enough for my head 59 - 60 cm, it's good for 58 - 58,5 cm. And earflaps some few short (they not as long as shown on the site), it's not very convenient when folded up earflaps. Overall - good hat for track & hiking. I would recommend this product, given the amend in size. June 28, 2011
Fairly Warm and Comfortable This hat is comfortable and warm. I did buy one size larger because of the other reviews I read, and that works. I like the wire bill design and the adjustment on the back of the cap. Also, I have been looking for a warm hat that velcro adjusts under the chin and can be put up and velcroed over the top like what this hat has. That is very nice. The only things I would change is to make the liner a little thicker and warmer, widen the straps that go under the chin, and have the back part drop down a little further in the back to cover the neck. Otherwise, this is great hat. Is warm enough for temps down to the mid 20's. January 10, 2011
great in snow or on the water I really love this hat. I selected it because it offered a little bill for sun protection. I got so much more- a hat that protects me from wind and water, and still allows me to hear clearly. I generally don't like wearing hats, but the Rando Cap is so light and comfortable it has become my all weather accessory. I have lost track of how many I have purchsed for friends and family. Unbelievably Ugly hat When I read the reviews I decided to buy one. When I put it on and looked in the mirror I scared myself. It is beyond a doubt one of the ugliest hats I have ever seen. It fits tight and doesn't seem to be that well made - I returned this hat. I also had them send me a OR Windwarrior hat. This is a great hat and much better made than the UGLY HAT. It covers the ears and and I will use this on extremely cold days for skiing. If you want a hat that is like the ugly hat then try the North Face Windstopper High Point hat. It covers the ears and also has a tie down strap to hold the ear covering in place. I also bought one of these and think this is an excellent hat. I am simply tired of freezing my ears off. Hope this helps. October 13, 2010
great hat I love this hat. It is comfortable, warm and it keeps the rain off. I found the sizing to be perfect and not too small like other reviewers April 19, 2010
Great hat I lost my previous hat while skiing and ordered another one. I like that the hat is waterproof made of GORE-TEX and has a strap to go under the chin as I do winter fishing. My previous hat weathered through gale force winds with flying color. February 22, 2010
Outstanding Lightweight Cap This cap fits nicely and the ear flaps keep ears warm. It is all-weather, rain or snow. I did order 1 size larger and that worked. October 27, 2009
I have two already. Take the suggestion of buying one size larg I have two already. Take the suggestion of buying one size larger than usual and it is a perfect fit. Love the adjustable card running around it. Fits well with goggles for skiing. The bill has a wire that forms to your style. GREAT hat! November 9, 2008
My favorite hat It keeps your head warm and dry and looks good while doing it. I love the hat so much I'm ordering another in a different color. March 23, 2008
Great cap but buy one size larger than what you wear. This was a Christmas present for my husband to wear while snowskiing but the sizing was so off that I had to return it. It is a great cap but buy one or two sizes up from the size you currently purchase. February 13, 2008
Rando Cap Runs Very Small While the Outdoor Research Rando Cap has above average quality construction,it is simply not up to par with Outdoor Research winter caps I have purchased in the past. Even going up one size as suggested does not provide a correct hat size or fit. I have purchased and used numerous Outdoor Research products over the years and have never been this disappointed with an OR product. November 21, 2007
a great hat for the cold weather I wear a Large in most OR hats yet with this I went with an XL and am quite happy. Rugged and durable. A must for the northern climes. September 18, 2007
Great lightweight cap I am Canadian, and by accident found your website. It is a comfortable, lightweight, windproof and warm cap in blowy conditions. I like the idea of the drawstring also for that perfect fit, and the best thing, the velcro chin straps are easy to do up with mitts. March 6, 2007
size large instead of medium I have found that although it look like it would be a great hat to wear I cannot wear the hat because it is to small and of course the suggest that you buy one size larger is a message that I don't recall seeing at the time I made my choice. I should have brought a large and instead I chose the medium which is normally what I wear. If I could wear the hat I think I would give it a rating of great however I will never really know. February 23, 2007
great hat Ive worn this hat in numerous weather conditions and its very warm water proof and breathable.i like it so much I'm considering buying one for work. February 22, 2007
Good cap but too small! I am pleased with the cap. Fortunately, I discovered it runs small (from reviews) and ordered one size larger than I take (ordered large instead of medium). It just fits, even at the maximum stretch for the large size. I guess it runs 1 1/2 sizes small. However, in all other aspects it is excellent - light, warm, rainproof. It would be nice if it came in a longer, (full-sized brim) option, for eyeglasse wearers. January 15, 2007
Rando cap We love the Rando cap, we both wear glasses and most caps press against the glasses and make wearing a cap very uncomfortable. Living in El Paso, TX where the wind is blowing most of the time and with us being older we really need our ears covered. This cap is perfect. January 14, 2007
Outdoor Research Rando Cap Because of the reviews by other customers I was confused as to what size to buy. So I got a large & an Ex-large. The large which is the indicated size for my 7 1/4 fit very tightly an would not loosen more. The Ex-large fit just a bit loosely but was about perfect with a small amount of tightening. There's room to go either way with it. My conclusion is if in doubt size up!! The cap seems otherwie to be very nice but cannot comment futher as it is too new. I'm sending the large back. January 13, 2007
Great hat Contrary to what some reviewers stated, I found the hat size to be fairly accurate. I usually wear a medium sized hat, but I bought the large one based on the customers' reviews. Needless to say, the hat is rather loose. The hat also stretches overtime according to what I read on a website dedicated to outdoor gears reviews (don't know if I could post links here). Regarding the hat inself, I haven't had much time to test it out yet, but it seems well-made. December 28, 2006
Research sizing! The medium was tight on my friend's small size head! You have to order at least two sizes larger! (I am hoping to get a size large for him). October 5, 2006
Snug fitting, light weight protection for cold-wet conditions The Rando Cap offers a combination of Gore-Tex protection against wet with a very comfortable fleece inner for warmth. As noted in the item description, it tends to fit snugly, but my L was a good, comfortable fit for my 7 3/8 head without any compression of the drawcord sizing. It would probably be too tight for any larger hat size, so I'd recommend sizing up in that case. I think the snug fit allows the cap to be worn with the earflaps fastened up without it being too loose on the head, thus making it more versatile in variable conditions. The flaps cover the ears and side of face, without extending too far below the back of the neck, making it fairly compatible with a high jacket collar. Waterfowl hunters would probably like its combination of features and fit, though the OR logo is reflective, even in Deep Green. The bill's wire stiffener allows some shaping, or for the bill to be flipped upward as needed. Having a bill is a nice feature for someone with eyeglasses. The cap profile is a bit squarish on the top, more so than Columbia's Yazoo Cap, which is looser fitting overall. In sum, the fit and features suited me. It's regular price is a bit high-end, but the sale price made it an excellent buy. July 6, 2006
great goretex hat used in cold rain did just what it was supposed todo. April 4, 2006
Poor fit This hat runs extremely small - even the L/XL won't get on my head. Will be returning it. Otherwise looks like a nice well made hat -- couldn't try it in the field though. March 2, 2006
This is it! The OR Rando Cap is it. I was very pleased with its performance. Waterproof and breathable, who could ask for more? The fit is comfortable, and the fleece lining is great. This is it, all ya need. Besides, OR has always been great, I wouldn't expect less. January 17, 2006
Unhappy It is pretty sad to have to buy an extra large size which supposedly fits 7 3/8's but is so tight on me I don't think it is even a 7 1/4. I paid $50 for that? Sad. December 31, 2005
One Cool Cap The Outdoor Reasearch Rando Cap is as warm as it is cool. Sometimes when the the wind is bitter cold or it's snowing, you need to cover those ears. The little visor on this cap is justr enough to keep the snow out of your eyes. Put on some shades and you're just cool. December 13, 2005
