These lightweight Outdoor Research Snowline Mitts feature a rugged Cordura® shell with waterproof, breathable Ventia™ inserts for reliable backcountry weather protection. These mitts, with some thin gloves underneath (I use running gloves), provide great warmth. These are durable; I wouldn't expect any snags or ripping on rocks, etc.

Used these for many years for resort and backcountry skiing as part of a multi glove/mitt system. The cut of the mitt has changed so if you are ordering replacements you may want a size larger to accommodate an inner glove.

Brian - 2007-03-04Great Mitt, but be careful about the sizing!
These are great mitts, very light-weight, and very warm. Be careful about the sizing. My hand measures 8.5" circumference around the knuckles, and I have always worn a Size L glove. For the Outdoor Reasearch mitts I needed a Size M. Try them on, or order one size smaller from your glove size -- if you want the mitt to fit snugly. They are very roomy mitts for the size. Great mitt for the price -- especially if you can get them on sale!

welp, in a stroke of irony, i ordered these mits for my mom. The wrong size was sent (men's rather than women's) and Altrec was entirely willing to take care of the mishap. Then I went and crashed a huck into some ice and broke my thumb and tore my ucl. Amazingly, the cast that the thumb was put in to wouldn't allow a glove to fit. The mittens did. They're great, very warm, pretty waterproof, just really really comfortable. If you're looking for a good pair of well priced mitts, this is a solid bet. I give them my firm approval to them. I don't know how well they'll work in lower than the 20's F, but it's a solid buy.

Love the linig - good warmth alone or for extra warmth, can wear over lightweight fleece glove. The one hand MonoCinch is awesome. Although only used once in dry conditions, look forward to see how the waterproof insert hold up in wet conditions.

I use this shell over a neoprene liner for paddling cold, cold rivers in my open whitewater canoe. So far it has kept me dry and warm while others hands get chapped and sometimes even bloody. I would think this would be a great product for any wet, outdoor winter activity.

I liked these mitts and wore them with liners and they were toasty warm on the lifts with the wind blowing, they did well when the weather changed to rain. I liked the easy pull string closure on the cuff.

I like these gloves so far, I am using them as my ski mitts this year and wearing different gloves underneath. I like the mittens, the only drawback is they did not come with a leash but there was a loop to fasten one on myself which has worked great. I always like Outdoor Research gear. My brother bought these for me last year for Chirstmas and overall, I'm a satisfied customer. They run a little big, so when I wear a light weight liner underneath, they are a tad big, but otherwise they are great and will last me forever.

Overall a great design and fit. I found the mitt a little over-built, it could be much lighter and still function the same.

Outstanding in very cold weather or moderate weather when inactive. When skiing in moderate temperature (30s), the mitten must be removed and dried out regularly. When turned inside out, it dries quickly. The plastic clips will not reliably stay attached to a sleeve.

gloves come larger than average, also they trap moisture. each day after skiing I have to flip them inside out to dry them out properly. also the fleece lining gets bunched up and makes it hard to put my hand back in the glove. it would make sense to connect the lining to eliminate this problem.
