Great all-purpose hat
I have the Oasis Sombrero and it is my most favorite, but I needed a hat that I could wear while driving and that wasn't too big for certain situations. This hat is fabulous! I was worried that it wouldn't protect as well, but for a narrower brim it does great! I think the dark underside helps too. I wore it for around 6 hours of standing in the middle of a giant cement area in 90 degree heat and managed to not be sunburned! That is a major accomplishment for me, so the hat is perfect in my opinion! It is also the easiest to carry along if you will need to stuff it in a bag or something, because the narrower brim and soft top scrunch better without it getting messed up (although the brim has gotten a little wiggly, but it looks fine and works fine). One thing I did have to get used to was wearing it higher than I thought I would - the Oasis Sombrero is cut to sit completely on the top of your head, but this is cut like a bucket hat (duh, right?), so I had to remember to not pull it all the way down. That's better anyway because I like having the space at the top of the hat for my head to cool off. Definitely a great hat!

Great Hat!!
This hat's got a great fit and feel with just enough "bucketness" in the look. The brim on this hat has just the right depth and width to it to cover both eyes and ears without being affected by the wind.

My new all around hat
I love the hat, it's very well made, the material is soft and the UPF 50 rating certainly comes in handy. The brim is wide enough to give cover from the sun, but not too wide to make you bump the brim on things as you move around.
I haven't had it long enough to give it 5 stars on durability, but I have no doubt it will last a long time.
Runs just a bit small I think (I wear M), but still comfortable to wear, I'm not going to return it for a Large.
Definitely my go-to hat for summer from now on.

Great bucket hat
I have yet to wear this hat outside but from looking and just touching it you can tell this is a top quality hat. It's extremely comfortable on the head and the brim is large enough for full protection.

interchangeable
Easy hat to share in family with different head sizes due to the feature that tightens or loosens the hat (size up if using for this purpose) and it actually stays on in the wind even without the chin strap. It also has more coverage than your typical bucket hat -- shades the nose a bit more. Also, it breathes well -- better than thick cotton -- and tucks away in back pocket when need be. A hat that hits all the right notes.

Perfecto
Great job making this hat. It is true to size and is very comfortable without being to wide and bulky. I have worn the hat hiking, rafting, and for everyday yard work and there is no signs of wear yet. I would buy this hat again.

Does it well
I ordered this hat as a replacement for my freebie military boonie hat. This is lighter and provides almost as coverage without blocking my vision (larger and more floppy brim on a boonie). I also wanted a chin cord for windy conditions.
Because my head size was midway between Large and Extra-large as measured by the directions on the OR website, I ordered both. Something is amiss because the Large (which fits me well) is larger than the Extra Large (which I am returning) despite all my adjusting and fiddling; even the brim is larger on the Large. Go figure.
Anyway, it's a great hat that I will use for many years for backpacking, fishing, hunting, and, yes, even Disneyland.

Great Hat
I bought this hat mainly for protection from the sun. The hat has turned out to be one of the best I've found to date. I plan on buying another one just to have as a back up when they quit making them. The build quality is great and the hat looks good. I bought an XL even though I can wear a Large because I like my hats to be a little loose so that they can breathe. In the case of this hat it has a cinch on the back so that you can tighten the hat if it is loose. Also the draw cord is removable if you don't like having one dangling from your hat.

great hat
Great hat , Good color khaki. Good sun coverage over ears and neck. Excellent feel in wind. Does not blow off head. Size fits right to fit in XL fro 7/5/8" size.

nice hat
I love this hat. I'm an average sized female with a pretty average head size and ordered the L. It is very adjustable, so it fits great. I can tighten it when it is windy and loosen it when I get warm (I live in the southwest). I like that it is spf 50 because many women's sun hats are not!

Very Light Weight.
This is a great hat for the money. Its light on the head and wicks away sweat. It does not feel heavy like a cap and yet it shades the eyes, ears, and neck. I have yet to wear it in the rain.

Cool and happy
Just moved to Arizona and a hat is necessary. This does the job without being overly large, and it is quite cool and comfortable (for a hat). The features of the removable strap and the adjustable band around your head are good options.

Cool and Lightweight
I bought this hat primarily for an upcoming hiking trip but have worn it just about everyday for the last two weeks! I wear it for sun protection in the garden, hanging out in the pool, playing softball, and I even wore it to a cookout last night because I was having a bad hair day. It's cute! But what I love best is that's it's cool and very lightweight...I can't really even tell it's on my head! Couldn't have bought a better hat. Thanks, OR.

A top quality hat with maximum sun protection.
I purchased the sun bucket hat because the baseball style caps I've been wearing while sailing did not protect the sides of my face or my ears from getting sunburned. I often forget to apply sunscreen and decided a sun bucket hat with its all around brim would offer far more protection than a cap. Well last week end I was in a sail boat race with wind gusting to 25 knots at times. The tie down laces on the bucket hat kept it from blowing off my head and the brim protected my ears better than any cap I've ever worn. This bucket hat is everything you advertised it to be in your description. This fact,the excellent price and your expedient delivery have made me very happy I bought it. Great hat!!
I am very fair skinned and I play a lot of golf. I was looking for something lightweight that offered sun protection (and wasn't ugly). This hat is perfect. It's very lightweight and looks good too.

Just traveled for a long time and the hat was absolutely helpful to protect from the sun. Very light and convenient! Well, nothing is new- outdoor research is the best!

Quality hat
Because I am bald I sweat and eventually ruin my ball caps. Not only do I get more sun protection, the sweat wicks away and does not stain the material.

I love my hat
I wear my hat to work almost everyday. I use it when I work on aerial signs. It does a good job of keeping the sun off my face and neck. As a lady, I do not want sun damaged skin. This hat helps a lot. It fits under my hardhat, however my head gets a little warm when I do that, but it beats having the sun shining in my face.

nice hat
I am always on the lookout for a good sun hat and this hat works pretty well. The only issue I have with Outdoor research hats is that the brims are not stiff enough for windy conditions and they flop around but overall the hats are very well made.

Best single hat I own!
I do everything outdoors. My doctor told me to drop the baseball caps and get something that protected my ears. I sail, bike, fish, camp, trek and everything else. I needed something that would stay on my head in wind and rain. This is the one perfect hat I own. Just back from sailing for three weeks in Greece - wore it every day, now I feel naked without it.

As advertised
The brim on this hat has a slight downward slope, which improves the coverage without having to make the brim too large. Perfect. Plus, I like the removable strap.
