Description

This insulated bottle carrier lets you transport hot or cold liquids into the backcountry. The Outdoor Research Water Bottle Parka weighs much less than a thermos, but offers similar performance. Water Bottle Parka 4.7 5 41 41
warm soup Just had a batch of tomato soup i kept warm in the Parka while in the chili morning of southern california. Hooyah to Outdoor Research for an awesome product. January 14, 2012
Keeps water ice cold This parka is FANTASTIC!!! My water stays cold all day long. No leaks or spotting. Wouldn't trade it for anything. It fits my nalgene 1 1/2 liter bottle perfectly. June 4, 2011
Great for keeping your drinks hot! I bought this to take on long bus trips in the winter and it did not disappoint. It kept my tea at a nice hot temperature for the duration of my trip 6+ hours, including about 2 hours outside (getting to and from the bus stop, waiting of the bus, etc.). Great purchase overall. November 8, 2010
I've been looking for this I like to keep a water bottle handy on the outside of my pack, but haven't been able to since switching over to Kleen Kanteens. This worked great. I do wish the fit were a little less tight -- it's impossible to insert or remove the bottle with one hand. September 26, 2010
Another quality Outdoor Research product Outdoor Research has always produced quality products and the Water Bottle Parka is no exception. It has good insulation and the construction is very durable. I use it on a regular basis and expect to have it for many years to come. July 28, 2010
Great water insulator! Holds a regular 24 oz bottle of water very well. Good insulation. July 27, 2010
Fantastic Water Parka I used my cousins' small water bottle and parka while camping last month and fell in love with it. The parka kept my bottle cold as well as clean for hours even on the 90+days with humidity. When I got back I ordered the 40oz. Wide Mouth #3 for keeping my water cold while in the car. So far so good. Would recommend this especially if you need a larger size for sports or weekend trips. July 7, 2010
Far and above the basic neoprene sleeve... As a test I left a parka & bottle filled with ice out in the direct sun for 3 hours, and another in a basic sleeve in the shade. Temp was about 98 F. The parka still had a bit of ice left in it and was a refreshing drink whereas the other one was like drinking bathwater. I've left one in a hot car all day and had a nice drink afterward. Minus 1 star for being somewhat big and bulky, but well worth it overall, IMO. June 29, 2010
Insulates well! The OR water bottle parka is excellent for keeping the Klean Kanteen water cold for a long period of time. The parka keeps the bottle from scratching the kayak as well! May 4, 2010
solid construction I have not had an opportunity to use these yet. The quality of the material & construction seem superior to the old model. The addition of rubber to the top & bottom seems to be a good idea. The fit for the 3 sizes of SS bottles that I own is great. March 25, 2010
snugg and cold when you need it I use the #3 parka to keep a 1L PET water bottle cold when flying my paraglider in hot Jamaica. Humidity is very high here and if I would put the bottle without the insulation in my harness it would create a lot of messy condensation where I can't afford it. My only criticism is that the design is a little short for those off the shelf 1L PET bottles. The bottle does fit, but it puts a lot of strain on the zipper. I wish the parka was 1/2" taller. March 9, 2010
it didn't freeze! Insulated the bottle very well. Velcro started coming apart from sleeve. May have to return it if I can't thread myself February 16, 2010
48oz Wide Mouth Size #3 This is an awesome water bottle parka! It can handle the big 48oz wide mouth. I have used the smaller size to carry the 32oz. This parka will buy you plenty of time to keep your water from freezing. February 6, 2010
The best insulator for Klean Kanteen I find that the OR water bottle parka keeps beverages in the Klean Kanteen cold for a very long period of time. The insulated protection around the water bottle keeps it from scratching the inside of my kayak. January 31, 2010
Great product Great product ,would buy again. Cool on hot days and warm on cold days January 27, 2010
Warm I'm usually trekking in the back country of the Sawtooth Wilderness in Stanley, Idaho taking pictures. The temperatures during winter can plumit to 40 degrees below zero. Having protection for your water supply is a must. The Outdoor Research Water Bottle Parks is a must for those cold winter days. December 15, 2009
This product is one of the very best for keeping beverages cold I have tried at least 20 different thermal bottle holders, and it is, without a doubt, the very best of all of those I have tried. It keeps beverages colder longer. October 7, 2009
really great bottle parka! It keeps my nalgene 1L bottle warm like stainless bottle. I always carry this whenever I go climbing. August 16, 2008
No frozen water Climbed Mt Washington and was able to drink my water with no ice. Water bottle was not in my pack it was just in the insulator and was perfect. March 18, 2008
nice design but heavy like most insulated holders for 1L bottles, well made but HEAVY! Wish it were available in a taller and/or slightly wider size so I could use it with my MUCH lighter 1L & 1.5L platypus bladders March 4, 2008
Didn't Freeze Didn't keep hot chocolate hot in -10 to -15 weather for 9+ hours but did keep it from freezing. Red color is easy to see in a backpack February 15, 2008
It keeps water cold or hot. Great water bottle parka both for winter and summer. October 24, 2007
It really works! I wasn't really sure if the OR water bottle parka would work or ot, but I took my chances with it and WOW, it really worked! I spent 3 nights out in 5 degree temps and the water never froze. I would melt snow and put the water bottle to bed in it's cozy new parka before hitting the sack, and when I drug myself out of the bag in the morning I had cool water! I love it, now I have room in the foot of the sleeping bag for other things, like my feet! Thanks OR for the great product. And thank you Altrec for great service. August 30, 2007
Good Product Strong and tough. Does the job. February 15, 2007
Good It,s the best water bottle parka in summer & winter, because my water keep cool & warm. May 6, 2006
Does the Job Does the job nothing fancy, wish it was lighter. March 18, 2006
Excellent Outdoor Research: Water Bottle Parka is Excellent for hiking, backpacking, paddling and more, this insulated design makes liquids easier to swallow and enjoy on hot summer days. March 18, 2006
Good, but it is a little wide to Nalgene 16 oz. I bought this water bottle "parka" for my 16 oz. Nalgene bottle, but I think it wants a measure between 16 and 32 oz. to work well. But in general terms, its a very good product. March 10, 2006
Better than predecessor I haven't had the chance yet to field test this, but this is sturdier and slimmer construction than the previous model. I applaud OR for using the rubber top and bottom to add strength and allow it to sit properly. The previous model could get bent out of shape and not sit up. March 5, 2006
Just what you would expect from OR I bought two. 1 32 oz and 1 16 oz. They both hold my Nalgenes without being so thight that they are a pain in the neck to get the bottle out. Their attachment gizmo is wide enough that even full bottle don't swing and really can attach it to the padded waist belt of a backpack. For short hikes I use a 12 oz Nalgene in the 16 oz carrier and I have room for a trail snack. I have not had a chance to test them in the cold but they will keep water cool even when left in a hot, sunny car. January 16, 2006
Best Water Bottle Parka OR is simply the best water bottle parka available, but if you can't afford it, use a sock. It works too. January 8, 2006
Good insulation for Nalgene I bought 0.5 liter Parka for my 16 oz. Nalgene but it is a little big for it.It also just fits to 32 oz. Nalgene. July 25, 2005
Great Product Great water bottle parka both for winter and summer! July 25, 2005
good investment I bought two for my winter seminar on Mt. Rainier and am glad I did! Not only did it keep my drinks from freezing (as some of my team member's drinks did) but the large velcro straps made it easy to keep the bottles attached to my pack thereby freeing up my side pockets for other items such as snacks April 14, 2005
not any better then the old style I bought this parka thinking it would out perform the old style. In a side by side test, starting with boiling water the old style after two hours was warmer then the new style. So much for better insulation. The zipper is smaller and harder to operate with gloves on. This is not an improvement over the old style. March 21, 2005
Cold and Hot Keeps water from freezing in sub zero temps for multiple hours, much more comfortable than under your jacket. Also nice for keeping water cold in the summer. December 25, 2004
Essential Equipment I am a member of search and rescue in Colorado. We have to keep our gear ready to go at all times. With this parka I can keep my watterbottles full and in my vehicle without any problem with freezing. I did get a little ice that formed on the top of the water bottle one time, but that was when I left the water bottle outside the tent overnight with temperatures around 25 below. Not too shabby. Hint: store your waterbottle in it upside down, so if any ice does form it will be on the bottom of the bottle and you can still drink the rest. December 14, 2004
Works just like a Thermos The water bottle parka turns any nalgene bottle into a thermos. Much better than making one out of duct tape and ensolite pad. September 16, 2004
Water bottle insulation Got two of these water bottle parka's and enjoy the heck out of them. They keep items cold and warm. I place my wide mouth Nalgeneinside without a problem. Can be attached to your backpack or hook up on your belt. August 13, 2004
Excellent Answer to a Keeping Water frost free OR water bottle holder, inside a backpack, kept water unfrozen for 14 hours in a temperature that did not exceed +7 degrees F. January 18, 2004
It keeps water cold It really is nice for hikes, because it keeps water cold!!! April 9, 2003
