4.3 out of 5
March 08, 2011
Unlike all my other OR gear, this hat just did not work for me. With a 23" head size I started with a size large that initially fit well. It quickly stretched with wear having virtually no elasticity. After a few weeks of regular wear, it was no longer snug enough to keep out even moderate wind around the bottom edge. I figured I should have ordered a smaller one to begin with so I got a medium. That was more snug to start with but quickly stretched to be as loose as the bigger size. Ended up returning both in frustration.Cons: Wears quickly, Bad design
Altrec Beanie A Must Have
April 18, 2011
I had this Outdoor Research beanie for over a year and lost it on a spring hike this month. I immediately replaced it. It is a must have for my pack. I live in Santa Fe and in the late afternoon on a mountain hike it can suddenly turn cold and windy. This beanie won't blow off and provides excellent protection from the elements. I wear it with the bottom turned up and if need be lower it all the way for ear protection. It takes up no room in a pack and is always a travel companion.Pros: Build quality
Another superb OR product

Absolutely windproof and warm. Another industry leading product from the good people at Outdoor Research.
Favorite Winter Hat
March 19, 2011
This hat is warmer than others that I've tried because it is made of windstopper material. It's the perfect beanie. I bought this as a replacement for one that I lost.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Great head protection in winter.
December 10, 2009
I bought an OR WINDSTOPPER hat as a gift and was sufficiently impressed that I want one as well. Living near Lake Michigan the wind can be very strong and protecting the head and ears is important in the winter.

It is a great hut, very warm, and comfortable. The windstopper works pefectly. Maybe the fit is not as perfect as I would like, but anyway it's still a great benie.Pros: Performance
Sizes run small
March 27, 2010
I ordered this hat in a small, since most hats are too big for me. However, it turned out to be too tight and didn't go all the way over my ears. I will either be exchanging it for a medium or for a different style.
Outstanding wind hat

I'm out in it every day walking the dogs and this is the best winter hat I have ever had so far. No wind gets through this thing, very warm and comfy. Love it.
