Aria Hoody
July 11, 2009
I got this jacket because I own the vest, which I LOVE. It fit's perfectly. I'm 5'2" 105lbs. and got an XS. It's not bulky and packs small. I live in Denver, CO and it's great with a cashmere sweater underneath during the winter on colder days.
Perfect except leaks down
February 21, 2011
This incredibly lightweight and warm down jacket looks great and has best fitting hood on any winter jacket I have ever owned. It am plump size 12-14 and the large fits well. It is warm even in windy cold blizzard and has packs very small & is very light. Problem is that it leaks down. This is in comparison to my Patagonia Down sweater which doesn't leak but is heavier and not as warm.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Wears quickly, leaks downDid you recently buy the Outdoor Research Aria Down Hoody? Write a review.
Great jacket

I bought this jacket to go running in the cold winter months. It's perfect, it's lightweight but also very warm. I love the color and fit. I ordered a small which is my usual size. It fits perfectly. The colors are wonderful. I like that it has a hood. Definitely recommend this jacket!

great stylish jacket

I saw this jacket on a friend of mine and fell in love with the light weight of the jacket. It squishes up into a small bag so it is great for travel. It also holds up well on windy days. I am small-5'3 and 103lbs and the xs is big. I kept the jacket as I love it and can layer sweaters or gym clothes underneath. I would definitely recommend it!

This is a perfect midweight down! It will be my "go to" piece for all but the coldest days. Layers and packs easily. Also the baffling is really nice.

Perfect weight for most winter days in town in the PNW. Very comfortable, very lightweight, yet warm. I'm 5'6", 110 lbs and not at all endowed ;) and the small fits comfortably. The XS was a wee bit short in length and the hood pulled the slightest bit. With the Small, I can layer for more warmth when needed.

Versatile, slim fit, must-have wardrobe item
November 01, 2011
I have a very small frame (wear an XS) but am on the tall side (5'7")and this is the only down sweater on the market that fits nicely and has long enough sleeves. I've tried them all! The jacket is contoured to fit the body but not bulky, allows freedom of movement, is well-constructed, and I particularly like the hood for additional warmth and protection from the cold/wind/rain. I use this jacket for all cool to somewhat cold weather needs - walks, hiking, camping, in-town activities, and it always goes with me on vacations. It is an essential part of my wardrobe and gets more use than most of my other jackets. It can be used for skiing in moderate temps but I need more insulation for the cold days. I highly recommend this item!

perfect for in between seasons

or for layering under a shell. nice and lightweight, i find myself wearing this down jacket instead of a fleece, which works well because it is really lightwight. the medium does run a little bit bigger than most mediums.
gift to myself

I found this jacket in a store, then spotted it for less at Altrec. What sold me on it is the fact that it's down, and warm, but so thin and light you don't even feel like you're wearing a jacket. The fit is slimming. I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, got a large for layering, even though the medium may fit better. It has pockets inside for safely stowing stuff. The hood is comfortable and warm but doesn't get in the way when I'm not wearing it. It is shedding some feathers but I expect that won't last long. It is toasty for chilly days and blocks much of the wind. Down used to mean noisy, stiff, puffball, but not with this jacket. I'll probably buy the vest, too.
Pros: Great design, Build qualitygreat lightweight down hoody

The OR Aria Down hoody is a great coat. it is not really waterproof and certainly not the warmest outer layer, but is a great choice for cold days with a light fleece or heavy sweater underneath OR as a layer under a shell. The sizing seems to run true. I have had it for 6 weeks and have had little to no feather loss. The teal color is really lovely and different. As always, Altrec's prices and shipping can't be beat.
Pros: Ease of use, Great valueAria down hoody

Great jacket for comfort and warmth

This jacket is comfortable and lightweight. True to size and not bulky. Great for layering either over base layers and fleeces or under another heavier jacket. I don't wear this when it's raining or snowing unless I wear a waterproof, thin layered jacket over!
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great valueGreat jacket

The fit of the jacket is perfect for me (I'm 5'1") and I ordered the xs. (I imagine it may be short in length if I was taller) The cut is great, and most importantly the jacket is super cozy. My only drawback is that the outer fabric seems awfully fragile and easy to tear- if so the down would be a mess! I'll definitely have to wear this with an outer shell if doing anything that may tear the fabric (carrying firewood, scrambling on rocks/intense hiking, working in the yard)
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Cons: fabric tears easilyWrite a review for the Outdoor Research Aria Down Hoody here.

I bought this jacket for my girlfriend as a gift after she tried on similar down coat styles from marmot, isis, and patagonia at a local shop. The Outdoor Research Aria hoody was the best pick of the bunch for her. Myself and her liked the warmth of the 650- fill down and the slim profile of the the jacket. She was looking for a warm coat that did not have the real puffy look and this jacket delivered. The jacket is super compressable and is thin but provides great warmth with the 650 down fill. She especially liked the quilting pattern and the big roomy hood (she often wears her hair tied up). At 5' 4" and 130 lbs the medium is a comfortable form fit, and she likes that it offered a flattering shape while still providing room for some layering options. This jacket was just the piece of gear she needed, great warmth with tons style.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, function with fashionExcellent Jacket

Rose is really just red
March 26, 2008
This is a fairly nice jacket, but is more of a red color than I am interested in. It also seems like more of a layering piece than a stand alone jacket, which is what I was looking for.
Great for layering

This jacket has come in quite handy for sports events, where the wind picks up and the temp drops. I've used it for just what it is, a hoodie. It's very thin and fits under any jacket and doesn't feel poofy. I keep it packed in my car for games, along with my rain jacket. I don't see that it's 650 down though. It is not a winter jacket. I'd say it's an "add-on"
