Great Jacket
December 15, 2011
I ordered this jacket during the black friday sale and I'm very happy with the purchase. The jacket has a ton of features which I'm sure I'll use this winter. I really like that the pockets have a soft lining. The fit is definitely relaxed which I wanted but my one complaint is the arms of the jacket are a bit more relaxed than I would have liked. I could have ordered down but think it might have been too snug around the hips.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityGreat jacket for the money.

Bought this jacket for my wife. The color was a little off but pretty close, the fit was also a little on the larger side compared to other medium ski jackets that she has. The quality is what you expect from OR, it has a neat feature that is attached to the inside jacket. It has an attached neck gator/balaclava, I wish more jackets had this. This is the kind of idea that sets OR apart from the others.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueGreat All Around Jacket!

Love, love, love this jacket! I have been looking for years for a jacket that is not too bulky yet one that keeps you warm and dry. This has it all. Not too heavy, yet warm, water resistant and comfortable. I love all the pockets and the added zip in balaclava for added warmth if needed. The color being what I wanted was an added bonus as well! The first time I wore this jacket it poured rain on us sking in the spring and it kept me dry the entire time! I was amazed. It is well made and you can tell it will last a long time and will be my go to jacket in all different seasons. This is also my first purchase from Altrec and they are on top of my list for customer service.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityReturned the jacket

I ordered about 6 jackets online to compare. In the end I went with the Arcteryx Fission which I think is fantastic. This Axcess jacket was my first choice before I tried the Arcteryx, but I wasn't sold on it. I didn't like the boxy cut and didn't want the light blue, which i felt was the only color choice that would work for me. I did like the construction a lot, though. Great pockets, hood and cool built in balaclava, although I dont know if that is so necessary. I tried both the xs and the small and probably would have gone with the small as it allowed for layering. I liked that it had some insulation, which I discovered isn't easy to find in a good shell. The Arcteryx doesn't't have as much insulation but in the end I went for it anyway and will just have to layer more.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, great pockets bells and whistles, Cons: not very attractive cutGreat jacket - runs a little large

I received this jacket as a Christmas present and already love the quality and feel of the jacket. My only negative comment is that the "retro red" is a very muted red color and not quite as bright as I had hoped for. BUT other than that minor cosmetic detail, it is a great jacket!
Pros: Great design, Build qualityLove this jacket!

I love this jacket! I ordered a size down after reading all of the reviews and it fit perfectly! I have worn it twice so far in 20 degree weather with only a base layer underneath and I did not get cold. It was also blowing sideways and that did not affect me either! The built in balaclava was awesome! I would recommend this jacket to anyone!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, PerformanceAwesome Jacket

I needed a brown waterproof ski jacket for resort and backcountry. Spent some time reading the research on this jacket and it was perfect. This jacket is wonderful. Fits great, looks great with a flattering fit. I skiied all day in a snowstorm and stayed dry and comfortable. You do need an insulating jacket or layer underneath, depending on the weather. There is plenty of room for a primaloft layer in between that does not add a bulky look. The inside pockets are a bit small and short, but functional. I like it so much, I wear it around town.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, looks greatruns big! Loose cut

Excellent coat, bomb proof ad water proof. Only problem is the baggy cut makes the jacket run even bigger than OR normally does. I'm 5'6 ad 145lbs, and returning my large for a medium. The large vents are huge, but not mesh backed so make sure you remember to close them before heading into flying snow. And the internal dump pockets are placed above the belt line so they don't interfere with your powder skirt or pack hip belt.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: baggy fitDid you recently buy the Outdoor Research Axcess Jacket? Write a review.
All around sound purchase

I bought this jacket for winter into spring skiing in chilly Killington, Vt. It is both warm and comfortable without roasting you like a potato. It zips up close at the neck preventing any wind from encroaching and is also soft so no chafing occurs. The guns were blowing hard, and I was completely dry and toasty. I recommend a mid-layer for below 20's and wind, but otherwise very comfortable with a base layer. Color, I bought the red is nice and not shouty like some reds can be. I am larger on the bottom than top, and the outer jacket accommodates this, without being baggy up top. The snow apron sits too far down, more on my bottom than my waist, but I am 5'2, so I just don't use it and when I do, I snap and than fold under to be at my waist to accommodate my short stature.
Finally a Great Ski Jacket
January 24, 2011
I have ordered and returned many a ski jacket, and I finally found my favorite. It isn't too bulky, so I can layer depending on the weather, yet it is still warm enough if I don't! I am 5' 6" and sometimes find jackets too short, but the length covers just enough and still shows off my cute ski pants. I would say it is a little bit of a generous true-to-size, but not enough to order a size up. There are plenty of retro colors to chose from! That would be the only difficult hesitation you should have in ordering one!!!

i pair this with a north face windstopper. this combination keeps me very warm. i especially like the built in balaclava. this is a neat feature that should come standard on all ski jackets. keeps me warm on the mountain and also when walking around in the city. overall a versatile jacket that i would purchase again.
