Loving the Misto Sombrero Hat!

My Hat arrived quickly and in no time I had a wonderful waterproof hat that protects me here in the Pacific NW from the constant rain. The hat fits great and keeps the rain from getting me all wet. I would give my highest mark to the rating system! The quality is grand. I really like the brim that is very sturdy, perfect size and keeps its shape.

I bought my wife this hat for our Grand Canyon trip. It fits and looks good and seems to have a lightweight, durable, breathable quality. My wife is a petite person and the small size hat fit snuggly without being too tight. She likes the look and color. The chin string provides an added benefit by securing the hat in case of high winds or for allowing the hat to hang on her back when not wearing it. Lastly, the adjustable strap for the head sizing is great to allow a variety of fitments for sizing.

Great Rain Hat

I purchased this hat because I wanted a good quality rain hat that packs well, wears well and is definitely waterproof. I am very pleased with this hat as it fits well, looks stylish and protects me from the rain and sudden showers that are common here in the Pacific NW. I originally ordered a medium, but found it to be just slightly larger than expected for my 21 7/8 inch head. I exchanged it for a small and it is a perfect fit. This hat does have an adjustment band that helps to customize the fit. It is also a pretty cool sun hat!

Awesome construction, fit, and style. Very few hats are completely waterproof. This is by far everything the MFG claims it is! The hat is also easily packable for those trips where space is limited.

I am buying gear for my summer (in stages) on the Appalachian Trail. This provides sun shade, and is waterproof. Then there is the fact that it is my favorite shade of pink, What more could an AT hiker want? Nothing, it is just what I wanted.

Safari Hat

I bought this hat for sun and rain protection while on Safari in Africa. I have not had the chance to wear it there as of yet, but I have worn it at home while I was out in the rain. It was great, kept my head perfectly dry and was comfortable to wear. I have a small circumference head and the small fit well. Like the chin strap for keeping it on in the rain. Well made, cute and will be easy to scrunch up and pack. Definitely recommend

I got this hat since I have a few nice jackets that don't have a hood or the hoods just don't work to keep me dry. The pacific NW (seattle area) is windy and rainy a good part of the year and this hat so far has been great. It is adjustable to fit even a smaller size head like mine. It is stylish and my hair looks ok after I remove it since it doesn't make my head sweat like a hood tends to do. The chin strap helps it stay on even in the high winds we get up here. I recommend this to anyone. Plus the shipping was super fast from this company.

I love to research items before I buy them and product reviews are a great help, so I decided to help others doing the same thing. I live in New England, we have some wild, wet, windy weather! I have rain coats with hoods and I always have to hold onto the hood or it blows off. That got me thinking about a rain hat. I just received mine (earlier than expected) and I love it! It is very stylish, so wearing it commuting to work will be great. I can see that the brim will keep the rain off the back of my neck....and I will be able to keep my glasses on! My head measures 21.5 and the small is fine, any larger and you'll definitely need the medium.

Thick Hat

Bought this for a friend, it has a feminine look and the gore-tex kept her head dry even in a huge storm. However note that it is too thick to double up as a sun hat, your head will get cooked. Size small is fine for heads measuring 21.25", go up one size if yours is 21.5" and above else the part where the chin cord is attached to the hat will be uncomfortable against your head/temples.

I wear this hat every day to go running and I love it. It is sturdy and well-made but it is still lightweight. It has a fleece-type lining. Where I live it is quite windy so the chin strap is very handy and I was pleasantly surprised by the additional cinch-down feature on the upper back of the hat. This stays on while I run in gusty winds. And when it starts to rain occasionally I'm covered. The colors are great and neutral- I got carbon. I got a medium and it seems to run true to size. It has a nice wide brim for sun protection. Very pleased with this hat and I will buy it again.

I just wore the hat for 2 hours in the rain for the first time. Not a drop of a water on my head. It solved the problem I have been having where rain was mysteriously getting in around the hood on my raincoats.

This hat was a little hot, but over all a good buy. Offered great sun protection and stayed in place during moderate wind. Haven't gotten rained on yet, but I'm pretty confident this bad boy will hold up just fine!

I purchased the Misto Sombrero for my wife as a gift. She absolutely loves it, and has commented on the great style, comfort, light weight, neck strap, and adjustable head band size. She has not been caught in a shower yet, but the fact that it's GoreTex and should shed rain well - but still breathe is a real positive.

The hat stays on and I love it.

I bought this hat for many outdoor activities, including chaperoning trips with my students. It is wonderful. It has a nice wide brim and keeps my face, and more importantly, my glasses dry. One of my students commented on how it was so cool, like "an umbrella on your head!"

I was pleasantly surprised when my hat arrived much sooner than expected. I’m happy with my Misto Sombrero rain hat that replaces the one that blew away; I choose one with a chin strap this time. The size felt smaller than I expected as my number (22”) was ¼ inch less than the medium size (22 ¼). I wondered if I should exchange it and decided that the next size up might be too large and did not want to go thru the hassle and be without a rain hat. I’d be careful with measuring and size when buying; perhaps talking to a customer rep might help. I've not worn it long enough to rate durability, yet the quality looks good enough to last.

The Misto is attractive, well made, a nice neutral color and fits well. My only problem with it is that I live in muggy New England, and my head gets too hot.

I purchased this hat for sun protection during an upcoming rafting trip. The hat is both functional and stylish. It has a Goretex outer shell and a soft inner liner that is quite comfortable. This hat is not as flexible/flimsy as other similar hats I have seen, but rather somewhat ridgid and durable. The only drawback, which is slight, is that the hat is a little too tall for my head. If I pull the hat all the way down, my ears get pushed down which is quite common for hats I've owned.

Substantial construction

Solid build, not flimsy, floppy. Sizing is right on. If you want it a bit loose, purchase size larger. neck strap is well designed and definitely will hold hat on head. A good buy!

Rains in Spain

We're off to Spain during the rainy season so purchased this hat for our trip. It is just the right size and folds easily in my suitcase. I hope not to need to use it!

I haven't had the opportunity to wear it in the rain yet, but I like how it looks, and I'm sure it will be a great hat on a rainy day. My head measures 22" or slightly over, and the medium fits very well. The color is khaki, but to me it seems to have a bit of an olive tint to it. A lot of my work is done outside, so I'm sure I will get plenty of use out of it.

Great Rain Hat

I love this hat. The foam brim is great, doesn't flap around, so feels very sturdy. It's a cute style and doesn't give me hat hair! I got it for running in the rain and not only does it keep my head and neck dry, but it keeps the rain off my glasses. It has a light lining, so may not be the best sunhat on a really hot day. The only real con for me is that the wide and stiff brim in the back hits my backpack in an annoying way, so I have to take a different hat on backpacking trips. However, for cooler days, lake or ocean kayaking, running, hiking or bopping around town on a rainy day, it'll keep the sun off your face, and the rain off your head and you'll look quite stylish. I was lucky to get the lovely teal color in a size S. My head measures 21" and it just fits, no adjustment needed, if your head measurement is any larger, you might consider a M.

I completely love this hat. I've been looking for something like this to wear on drizzly days walking the dog and for an upcoming beach trip. The chin strap makes it perfect for breezy beaches, sunshine and even (hopefully not) rain. This was also my first purchase from Altrec and I'm 5 Star pleased! Great experience!
