she loves them
January 02, 2011
I bought these mitts for my girlfriend after trying to find some leather mitts for myself. She loves them. They are not the most insulated or the warmest but with a thin liner they did the job keeping her warm which keeps me happy. We were skiing Whiteface Mtn, Lake Placid, NY and as anyone knows who skis up here it is cold and very windy. Good product
Good Mitt for the Wife
January 10, 2011
I just bought these for my wife. Only one ski day (Breckenridge) with these mitts so far - but it was -42 with the wind-chill (I've skied hundreds of days and probably the coldest conditions I have been in). Nothing was warm - but nothing froze. Both my wife and I had on all Outdoor Research gear - all made with their softshell Ventia material (that is what these mitts are made from). We did not have anything to compare it too - but again - we did not freeze. Please note, however, that we only took one run ;-) When we went out that morning we were thinking high teens. In the blink of an eye it got nasty. All this to say, we were not dressed for -42 and it was barely tolerable in this material. Wind can pierce it - but it was gusting hard! Lastly, these mitts fit really nice. They are easy to pull on. In cold weather you will need liners - but I think that makes them more useful in different temps. Also, there is room inside for the liners. The leather palms seem a little slippery to me - but my wife did not comment on that. She does love how it matches the brown in her jacket and pants (again - all Outdoor Research stuff).

Excellent mitts

I have never owned anything bad from OR and these Revolution mitts continue the streak. They are very warm, and I have poor circulation, have cool features like the pull tab and cinch closure/opener. I would def. recommend these mitts to anyone doing outdoor things that needs a functional mitten in cold conditions. The fit is also true to size.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of useWrite a review for the Outdoor Research Revolution Mitts here.
xlnt mid-range temp glove for sports

I have OR mitts for extreme cold temps, but they are too warm for moderate to mildly cold winter adventures. I have loved every OR product that I've purchased, so I decided to try the OR Revolution Mitt for less extreme temps. I use them for skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. They have a great fit, are not bulky, and have a contoured design that makes it easy to hold poles. They have kept my fingers warm (I have poor circulation so that's a problem for me) in the mild to moderate temperature range and I would highly recommend them. However, when the temps drop I do transfer over to my OR cold weather mitts for the added insulation.
Pros: contoured design for holding poles not bulky, quality constructionAlready own the Outdoor Research Revolution Mitts? Tell us your thoughts.
Super warm but not bulky

I got these mittens for Christmas and absolutely love them. They are the warmest mittens I have now but I still have good use of my hands. The leather palm is great for holding onto my ski poles and dog leash. Highly recommened.
Nice mitts

I used these mitts for the first time yesterday. They are a lot less bulky than my old pair yet really warm. It was a somewhat mild day so my hands were toasty. One thing I noticed was that there is so much insulation on the top that the the top of my hands were sweating...strange really. I wish the mitts were a bit longer in the cuff. It was a powder day and I ended up getting snow in the gap between my sleeve and the mitten. All in all I am happy with my purchase and look forward to many days on the mountain with these mitts.
