Keeps me dry, blocks wind
May 09, 2012
I've had this jacket for a few months. I wear it almost daily on my bus commute. I also wear it on day hikes when it's raining. It has kept me completely dry and it blocks the wind really well. I have it in the small and it is roomy enough to wear a fitted fleece jacket underneath. I like that the hood is generous. On rainy day hikes, I wear a baseball cap and pull the hood over it to keep the rain off my face. It is a little longer and scooped in the back. The side zippers that open all the way up to the armpits are handy when you want to cinch your backpack's waist belt under the jacket (to avoid bunching of the fabric by cinching over it). Deducted one star due to the drawcord at the bottom hem. On one side, it popped out of the rivet because the little piece of fabric connected to the elastic had frayed and came away from the hidden stitching. I generally don't mess with the hem drawcord, so I just tied a knot at the end of the elastic to keep the toggle from sliding off. It is still functional this way and I can still cinch the hem if needed. Despite this minor flaw, I still like this jacket.
Pros: keeps me dry, good windbreak, roomy, generous hood, side zippers, Cons: hem drawcord popped outOutdoor Research Women's Sojourn Jacket Photo
