Get the Job Done
March 20, 2011

I bought these for the warmer spring weather, for climbing and hiking. Took them out for a test drive up a ridge and encountered anything from shale, boulders, sand and deep crusted snow at the summit and they held up great and kept my feet and ankles dry for the most part (as good as any gaiter could for the conditions) even when glissading down the slope. Great buy for the money.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

January 07, 2009

I live in northern Ca. and we have had lots of snow this year. I hike and snowshoe a lot and the gaiters keep my legs perfectly dry. They are easy to put on too. I The price is good and I highly recommend them!

good gaiter good price
December 17, 2009

this is a great gaiter for the price. i have been referred to as a walking stick figure and the sm fit fine even with jst short pants. i've heard some rumble over the tops folding down but have not experienced that myself. great at keeping legs/boots dry. seem very durable however i do wish the boot strap was replaceable as i am obsessed with the what if's on a climb.

Warm and dry in freezing wet winter conditions
November 10, 2012

I bought these gaiters right before a 7 day backpacking trip in the midst of a snowy and muddy early winter. Not only did they hold up to everything, but my pants were dry at the end of every day. I fell in multiple rivers and bogs throughout the trip and they kept the water from coming over the tops of my boots every time. Was pleasantly surprised how well they kept the heat in too to my lower legs and feet. Probably would not have survived this trip without these.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

Good, not great
December 22, 2009

Bought these for my wife b/c she's jealous of mine for hiking in mud and keep snow out of her boots. Good look and fit overall. Only thing that needs improvement is a way to keep them up. Perhaps a stronger buckle will do (metal rather than plastic).

Gaiters with good fit!
June 25, 2010

These OR Verglas Gaiters have better fit than the OR Rocky Mountain High or Cascadia gaiters. They are true to size, and fit snugly around my hiking boots. Is also is very lightweight, and waterproof. Highly recommended!

all good
December 23, 2009

These gaiters work well, are easy to get on and off, and were reasonably priced. They are lightweight and keep the snow out. I love not having to wear snowpants and being able to trudge through deep snow! Only small issue is that the leftover cord on the top strap (around the calf) has no place to tuck in, and cause I have small calves, there is a couple inches swinging free on either side. Not a big deal though. Oh, they look great too.

Great Fit and Keeps You Dry!
November 06, 2009

I got hooked on snowshoeing last season and these kept me dry and warm for many trips into the Utah mountains. They are a great fit especially for those of us with "sinewy" legs. Definitely recommend for those who want to enjoy the simplicity and solitude of "shoeing" while keeping dry.

Worth the money
December 21, 2009

Hiking in the Adirondacks can be cold but with these mittens they keep me toasty. I own two pairs, very avid winter hiker and they are worth every penny!

As expected

Great price. Kept my legs dry and water out out my boots!!

January 20, 2009

They're very durable, but I've only been able to use them once this year- and I live in MT. They did a great job keeping my legs warm and dry. The only issue I had was with FedEx- who delivered them to the neighbor instead of me (it was a nightmare). Wish Altrec would go through UPS instead, but their service was AWESOME- so I'll keep using them too.

Verglas Gaiter - Review
January 08, 2010

I purchased these for my wife to wear while snowshoeing. She has switched to a shorter lighter boot, and wanted to keep snow from getting over the tops. These gaiters are well made, fit well and look good. Her first remark was how well they loooked on, so I know she will wear them. What more can you ask for? A good value for the price.

holds up against thorny underbrush
July 09, 2011

I bought these to wear while doing tracking exercises with my dog off trail. They seem to do their job keeping my pants from getting ripped up by thorny bushes. I went through a few especially dense patches and these gators came out still looking like new. We'll see how they hold up. I also have yet to wear them in wet/damp conditions so I can't comment on their water resistance. The fit snug around my boot and its really easy to adjust the straps. My only complaint is that I wish they were a little bit longer. I'm 5'1" 110 lbs and I got the S because I wear a size 6 shoe. These come up to just barely past the widest part of my calf. If you're taller you might want the larger size.

Greart product
May 06, 2012

I had these for 5 years and they are wonderful in snow! The only reason the over rating is 4 is that the clips at the top are not the best design. They could be a little more easier to use. But overall, I would greatly recommend them!

Still loyal to Outdoor Research products
March 25, 2012

It's been a warm and dry here but there is still areas of deep snow, so these gaiters have been perfect. They are lightweight, stayed put, and easy to get on and off. My mother borrowed them and even though she is a size smaller than me (7, 7.5), the medium fit her just fine as well.

Pros: cost

Great fit. Perfect for snowshoeing! I like the velcro fasteners on the front... easy on easy off.

Nice quality gaitor
July 27, 2010

Fit is good, functionality and ease of use excellent. That they are lightweight is a huge plus. It's also fun that they have the attractive little OR logo flower on them, I'm geared up and stylin'...sweet.

Kept Me Dry
March 10, 2010

I purchased these to wear snowshoeing in deep powder. So far they have kept my boots and pants dry. I like how easy they are to get on and off. The only thing I didn't like is they are too big. I ordered a size large because I have a size 9 boot. They seem very big on me. I am 5'9" and 160 lbs so I'm not a small woman so I was surprised.

fit and function!
January 06, 2012

So, this was a gift for my wife so that we could get out a little more and do some snowshoeing without getting her feet and pants wet/soaked. Of course there are other products that make this helpful like water "proof" boots and pants, but the gaiters are a must have for snowshoeing. The Women's Verglas Gaiter by Outdoor Research is a winner. They are a good fitting gaiter, are eye appealing, and function exactly as designed.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
