The Yukon hat is attractive while being very warm for the cold weather months. I only wish there was a greater color selection

Pretty cool hat!

Nice looking hat. Bought as gift and considering getting one for myself. Very fast delivery!

Nice hat!

Got this hat for my boyfriend and he loves it. The only complaint is that the ear flaps do not sit flat against his ears when they are unbuttoned

warm
November 27, 2011

This is a great warm hat. I don't live in that cold of a place but it keeps my head so warm I don't need a jacket. I love the separated fold in the bill, it keeps it's shape when worn but can be packed away easily. I might have picked a smaller size -but no complaints here.

Fantastic Cap!
January 04, 2012

Something like the Yukon Cap has been something my husband has been searching for ... for over 2 years! He is allergic to wool, but sometimes works outside in the winter with harsh conditions. Earflaps are a must for him, but almost all have been wool. It took a long search online to discover your cap, which I bought for him at Christmas. He is thrilled! The wind and cold weather don't bother him now. He also has a very large head, but the cap fits perfectly! YAY!! The long search is over!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, warm non-wool earflaps

Warm and cozy.

Had a nice fit and comfortable lining. The plaid Yukon style reminds me of old camping photos from the Fifties. The fold-able brim makes it easy to fold and store in your backpack without damaging it.

Pros: Build quality, Great value
Comfort: 2 / 5
Durability: 2 / 5
Quality: 3 / 5

Okay Cap
June 28, 2011

This seemed like it would be a great cap/hat. However, it runs smaller than I expected and it has a weird crease down the middle of the visor. The crease keeps you from "'shaping" the visor/brim into a nice curve, like on your favorite baseball hat. Also, the wool is pretty scratchy and collected dog hair likes crazy.

Pros: Performance, Cons: Bad design
Comfort: 4 / 5
Durability: 4 / 5
Quality: 4 / 5

Great except Ear Flaps
January 13, 2012

Overall, I like the hat a lot. It's warm, comfortable, and seems pretty durable. My only complaint are the ear flaps. They are too lightweight and too short to really provide any protection from the cold or wind for my ears. The rest of my head is nice and warm, but my ears are consistently cold when I wear the hat, especially when it's windy outside.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: Bad design
Comfort: 5 / 5

Well constructed hat and very old school looking. Fits just a bit on the small side. Ear flaps do not cover ears snugly so if you are looking for something like that get a regular beanie. Otherwise, it's a great hat and very stylish.

Great classic style. Just a little too light weight for my hunting trip. Could not ask for better customer service with the order and return prosses. I will continue to check out Altrec.com for my outdoor assesories.

Great Hat
June 25, 2011

I use this hat a lot in january february and love the ear flap which works well. the split peak is great for folding it up for bag or pocket storage on the go. size runs a tad on the small side so I needed to stretch it out a little to get a comfortable fit.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: not waterproof

Looks good and keeps the ears toasty

Bought one for my pops and considering getting one for myself too. Love the retro herringbone-like style and the fuzzy fleece on the inside. Definitely makes for a good cold weather/driving hat.

Great cap for cool weather
October 12, 2011

Picked this up early before the fall/winter season. Great during the night and early morning. Keeps my head warm and actually fits my huge head!!! Haven't used the ear flaps yet but those will come in handy shortly. Like the bill - you can fold the hat up fairly small and out of the way.

Great Hat, Loose Ear Flaps
January 25, 2011

Its a great hat, very warm fabric and nice brim. Only problem is the flaps are a little bit small & loose so while my head is warm, my ears get a little draft if its windy. Added a fabric cord and its much snugger. The brim has an interesting break at the center so it's easier to fold up in a pocket when not on your head, had never seen this design before and it works very well. As all things Outdoor Research, its a great piece of equipment and is used constantly!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: needs bigger ear flaps
