If being comfortable and protected from sun and insects are high on your list, check out the versatile Outdoor Research Treadway Convert Sentinel Pants for men for your wilderness and adventure travels. These casually styled pants with removable lower legs breathe well and offer UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) 50 in hot weather. There are numerous pockets that protect valuables from getting lost. The DWR (durable water repellent) finish sheds moisture, articulated knees allow for easy movement on the trail, and the zip-off legs quickly turn pants into shorts when conditions turn toasty. Insect Shield® bug repellent wards off flies, ticks, mosquitoes and lots of other annoying pests you might encounter. The material is 100% nylon that is light, tough, soft, and dries quickly - perfect for backpacking or wherever the trail leads you.

The good, the bad, and the not so great.

When I first opened the package to try on these pants, I went to unsnap the fly and the snap broke. I had to replace it myself so that I could take it on a trip. The pants run a little tight around the hips and the front pockets are hard to get into. Although there were not a lot of bugs on this trip, the ones that were there, did not bother me like they usually do.
Pros: Performance, Cons: Poor quality
