Bomber shell/jacket
June 06, 2011

I used this jacket as a ranger and my favorite feature is the hem-to-pit zippers allowing for maximum ventilation. I use this jacket in all seasons with different layering schemes. Great product from a good quality company.

Solid jacket
March 31, 2011

A good solid goretex pro/paclite rain jacket. When I bought this jacket, I was intending to get the arc'teryx alpha sl, but the huge difference in price sold me on the Enigma. It is heavier than the alpha, but feels a lot more solid and durable. The cut is good, however I feel it is too baggy in the sleeves, so not as nice a fit as the alpha. I have also found the zippers to be stiff - hopefully this will sort itself out in time. The torsoflow feature is very nice.

Well worth the investment!
March 09, 2013

I bought this jacket 1 yr+ ago as both an all-around jacket and top of the line for my purposes-it has exceeded my expectations. A fashionable rain jacket to wear to work, truly waterproof saved me from unexpected downpours rock climbing, and blocks out the wind while mountaineering in warm and cold conditions with ventilation to keep me dry. It's durable enough to wear rock climbing, hood adjusts as you'd expect to wear over helmets or by itself (brim keeps rain off your face#, and side zips are perfect for ventilation adjustments and keeping it out of the way of your harness. Size S also fit me over a light-weight down jacket #I'm 5'3" and 135lbs w broad shoulders). I will say that the front of the jacket is a little short, especially if wearing over a down jacket and hoping your downy doesn't get wet.

Pros: fully waterproof, hip-to-bicep zip, durable, great hood, stylish, Cons: short length in front

Great value
March 16, 2012

It is a very thin jacket. I would prefer one with lining inside. But great value for a Gortex jacket. I got a small but I wish I had got XS instead. But it's not too big. At least, there is plenty of room to layer. Can't wait to try it for skiing next week.

Rugged, Lightweight, and Well Fitting
June 10, 2009

This jacket is lightweight and rugged. I have taken it on biking and rock climbing trips, and it still looks new. It is easily cleaned in the washing machine and dries quickly. If that isn't enough, it also has a very attractive fit.

Great quality - fit is a bit off
April 06, 2012

This jacket lives up to its promise. Good quality material, has enough features on the jacket to keep comfortable in different conditions. The fit is a bit off. The sleeves are really baggy but the torso runs very slim. Since the jacket is a shell, you need to wear warm layers underneath and the slim fit on the torso makes everything a bit tighter. The baggy sleeves might not be the most flattering but they do allow for a good range of movement which is more important than look. Not entirely ideal for a curvy body. But its a great jacket for the price and I will be wearing it for years!

Pros: great quality, Cons: slim torso

Durable ,great design and well make

Awesome Jacket!
April 14, 2011

I searched all winter for a jacket to nordic ski in that is breathable and waterproof. This jacket is it! I used it the first time on a snowy day and stayed warm and dry while getting in a good workout. The ventilation was great. The hood is a little big without a helmet on but is easily adjusted. I always wear a medium - 5'5" and 130# and it was true to size. The jacket also arrived promptly.

Excellent Gore-tex Pro jacket

Took it to Machu Picchu, it worked great near the glacier, my only complaint is I was unable to zip/unzip the pit vent with one hand (which is not ideal in extreme conditions).

Great Jacket!
May 02, 2011

Just ordered this because it was half off on the day I was browsing around. I think it's well worth the full price too! A lot of people have been complaining about the zippers, but they're not an issue. They are going to be a tighter zip because they're taped, but this just means that your jacket isn't going to let in excess water. I live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where we've had 0 degree and severe clear, 0 degree and snowing sideways, 50 degree and sunny...then raining, and everything-in-between weather in just a matter of a few days, and I've happily worn this jacket every day. Never been warmer when I put a down layer underneath, but it's nice for the warmer days too. Super versatile. Oh, and shockingly, shockingly light for such a beast of a jacket. Like the Danny Woodhead of GORE-TEX. The fit is really great, but if you're wide in the hips like I am (aka: shaped like a woman), I'd go a size up, as it's not very forgiving in the hips. But it won't make the top look sloppy/baggy because there's only a slight difference between the medium and large. Pockets: nice and deep, hold a lot of stuff. Internal pocket are great. I also like that the side vents can unzip from the base of the jacket, because I wear coach's bibs for skiing and don't really want to take off the whole coat just to grab the dermatone, you know? All-in-all, a great coat! I'm excited to put it to the test when we get back into the negative temperatures!
