A light, luxurious and insulated pad for 3+ season use. Here at Altrec, we have a desire to support companies that target areas of production that reduce the impact of the products they sell. More and more, these companies are finding ways to create cutting edge, fully-functional and high performance products, with minimized impact on the planet. Pacific Outdoor has done just that with their Eco Ether series of sleeping pads. The Eco Thermo 6 sleeping pad utilizes bamboo based Air-loft fibers in the internal fill. Undyed, carbonized bamboo fabrics manufactured with wind and solar power and a recycled aluminum valves help create a carbon neutral manufacturing process. The soundest backcountry sleep you'll ever have comes standard in the Green-tagged Eco line of sleeping pads. As the winner of Outside Magazines Green Gear of the Year Award, and Backpacker Magazine's Editors' Choice for Green Gear for 2007, rest assured that you're making a solid choice for quality product that's carbon neutral.
Smart purchase
At 2.5" of cushioning, this pad is perfect; lightweight, very compact, eco-friendly, and well worth the price. I wouldn't call myself a "tree-hugger" but I feel great about the carbon neutral foot print. I mean don't we purchase products like these so that we can enjoy the environment? It's not self inflating but it's EASY to fill with your lungs and let's face it, if you can't blow up your pad at the end of the day then you probably shouldn't be on the trail in the first place. I bought two of these from Altrec and they arrived super fast. I'm very happy with the purchase.
So excited...
I ordered the women's sleeping pad first, which was shockingly to small. I'm 5'5'' and this bag appears to fit me well. It's a very exciting purchase, especially since you know it is environmently friendly, which makes the pad seem more special.
this pad works!
First of all the price that Altrec is selling this pad for is a DEAL! I tried this pad out in REI and compared it to Thermarest and it was hands down more comfortable. My hip didn't dig into the ground at all which is always a problem for me. One thing I would say is that it works best if it is not blown up completely or if you do blow it up all the way to let out some of the air while you are laying down on it. My friend has a Thermarest and tried the Eco Thermo pad with me. Now she's also going to buy one.

hmmm
Smaller than i expected, but lightweight, so it balances out. Holds air in so far, and as long as you're not a turner while you sleep, you can be comfy. Have not tested it in the cold cold, but will soon see this weekend in the 40's how it holds out. I'm confident. Nevertheless, even if it's an average quality, the build and principle behind the design warrant some more interest and research by companies like POE into alternatives and renewables. Still, quality that lasts will be the long term deciding factor, and I think this will last as long as anything else in it's price range on the market. Horrah for bamboo!?
Offered in colors: Natural.
