Description

Carry it onto the commuter train, toss it into the wet bed of a truck, and lash it to the roof of a bus in Peru. Made from waterproof fabric and equipped with water-resistant zippers and seams, the burly Black Hole Duffel 60L from Patagonia will protect your gear from rain and rough handling. Its U-shaped lid allows quick access to the main compartment, while two zippered internal mesh pockets keep small items organized. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets pitched from on high. Carrying options include removable padded shoulder straps, webbing handles with a snap closure, and haul loops at either end (that facilitate linking multiple bags). Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. A zippered exterior pocket holds the stuff you need to access quickly. Made from 14.7-oz 1,200-denier polyester (50% solution dyed) with a TPU film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Smaller, more dense, black hole
May 17, 2011

This new smaller redesigned blcak hole bag is a great size to use with most traveling. I have owned the original black hole bag for years and it really is a large black hole. It holds everything and is indestructible. I bought the new smaller version because I have found many uses for a smaller duffle bag. This new black hole has a similar shape to the original but has been made out of a new material. I gave it only 4 stars for durability because this new material seems less substantial but, should it ever wear out I know patagonia will stand by their product. The construction itself is impecable like most patagonia stuff. I like the addition of the daisy chains on the side and the small pockets. Oh, the horseshoe shaped zipper is great for shoving bulky items in. Overall I have been using this bag for a few months and the smaller size makes it infinitely more useful for a variety of trips.

Black Hole Duffel
April 24, 2011

I picked up this bag to use for daily equipment carrier to and from the gym. It not only meets my expectations, but exceeds them in every way. It is the perfect bag in quality, size, and dimensions for an everyday gym bag. It is large enough to fit all my gear, a change of clothes and also a spare set of shoes. It is also small enough to fit into my locker, which is a real plus. If you are looking for a daily workout bag, this is the one I would recommend without reservations.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Cost

Great bag!!!
April 22, 2011

This is a great bag!!! Perfect for overnight jaunts and weekend trips. I am slowly replacing all my 20+ year old Patagonia wet/dry bags and these fit the bill to a 'T'. The backpack straps are a welcome edition especially when you need to carry more than one bag from the airport baggage claim to the car. Very durable construction, enough pockets to hold small items and a large opening for removing items without having to worry about the bag collapsing on itself. I highly recommend purchasing this bag for that matter purchase all three sizes! I know I will!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
