Great laptop bag!
November 19, 2009

I bought this for my wife's new MacBook Pro and she loves it! I have a Half-Mass for every day and Critical-Mass for travel. These are well made and thought out. They would be 100% perfect with one or two more organizer pockets for small items.

great everyday multi-purpose bag
September 09, 2011

I have the critical mass and half mass, both of which are great. The half mass bag has room for my work stuff, after work hiking/outdoor gear, and my dog's stuff, all in a size that won't hurt my back carrying. If you have a lot of days belongings plus a laptop, I'd go for the critical mass bag, but if it's just a days things then the half mass is big enough. Both great purchases and definitely worth the money!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever

An approximation of the real thing
December 08, 2011

I am generally a huge fan of Patagonia products, but was a little underwhelmed by this bag. The construction and sewing are good. However, compared to gear from Timbuk2, I found the materials thinner/less robust and the bag feels fairly flimsy. The bag is also a little too deep with limited pocket space and compartments. Also, the attached shoulder strap pad is very thin. I think people who actually commute by car will find this bag serviceable, but for those who actually ride a bike or take public transport to work can find better options for the same price.

Pros: nice styling, Cons: Bad design, Low performance

Great bag, not-so-great color

This bag is well designed with many pockets. I got this for my wife who loves to organize, and she showed me where she was going to put all her stuff after we got the bag.

Great Bag
September 17, 2010

I went round and round on what bag to get and this size is perfect for school not too big- not too small.

excellent messenger/laptop bag!
August 30, 2010

I purchased the Half Mass bag in Fusion Sunset (color) and recently traveled with it as my carry-on, filled with my laptop and other stuff. This bag is fantastic...love the way it looks, the generous cushioning on the strap, the adjustability of the straps, and the optional waist/hip strap that can be used when the bag is extra heavy (in the airport between flights, it helps!). So far, I've found this bag to be quite durable, good-looking, and well worth the money. Way to go once again, Patagonia!

Well organized. Typical Patagonia quality

good for laptop
August 03, 2010

I got this bag to haul around my school books and laptop for work. It's roomy and fits all I need, but it's still comfortable to carry around all day. I got the brown and really like it, but would have liked more organizational spaces for smaller items.

Half Mass Bag
January 05, 2011

I ordered this as a gift for my husband and so far he really likes it...its the perfect size for him to bring to work. The only thing we would change is making it all one color without the silver reflective stripe across the front.

Nice bag, but please check size carefully
August 01, 2011

This bag is attractive, sturdy, and incredibly spacious. In fact, it was actually too spacious in my opinion...like other reviewers have indicated, it's a BIG bag. I can't imagine how big the full-sized Patagonia bag is. It ended up being too big for my purposes so I had to return it. If you're looking for a bag that will carry a laptop and several books, this would be the right size, but for anyone else, this is not the right bag for you. The smaller version of this bag, the MiniMass, is absolutely tiny (like a purse). I wish Patagonia would make a "quarter mass" or something like that.

It's so easy to get attached to this beautiful, well-designed, environmentally friendly bag. It is very comfortable, (fabric so soft, and shoulder strap), and easy to access its pockets. It was a little too big for my needs. I exchanged it for the Mini Bag: I love it.

Great Bag
December 11, 2011

I'm a big fan of Patagonia clothing and accessories, but unfortunately this bag wasn't for me. It was much larger and bulkier than expected, particularly for a petite woman. I would also prefer it to have a few more zip pockets since the interior is fairly cavernous. That said, the bag is well made and a good size for most people who are looking for something to use for the daily commute or occasional travel.

Pros: Build quality, Cons: needs more interior pockets

Great bag, a little too big
August 23, 2011

I was looking for a messenger bag for dental school that didn't look too hippie or too professional. The bag looks great, unfortunately just a little larger than I wanted. Definitely larger than the bags that carry a 15" notebook. Didn't get the chance to use it, but the materials and looks are great.

Pros: Great design, Great value
Durability: 5 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

Great for everything except small loads
August 19, 2011

This is a great bag for carrying everything you may need for the day. I use it to stuff in my workout clothes along with books and a laptop computer. Everything fits in comfortably. I even stuff in some groceries if I have to stop by the store on the way home. It has proven to be extremely durable as well. Another of the features I like about it is that it is "flexible" so that it can be stuffed into smaller places. It's simply not rigid like so many bags are. If you're looking for a decent sized bag, this is it.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: size may be too big
