Unlike most Patagonia jackets, this one features R1™ Polartec™ fabric in the sleeves and thicker R2™ Polartec™ insulation in the torso. The lightweight sleeve design allows for greater arm movement without the bunching and binding you'll find in climbing jackets with uniform insulation thickness. The Stretch Speed Ascent Jacket is pack friendly--it features elevated zippered handwarmer pockets that stay out of the way of pack belts and climbing harnesses. There's also a removable between-the-legs strap for stability while doing technical mixed climbing or jumping off cornices on talcum powder ski days.
