Practical
It's super lightweight, and very comfortable to carry over your shoulders. It's also a great overnight gear bag, or in flight short trip (carry-on), or around camp. It's a bag that you may also use daily for work or around town, and did I mention it resists light rain... It compresses into its own pocket, (the blue one is a beautiful blue), and the internal zip pocket and external zip pocket are very useful.

i'm a person with extreme brand loyalty to patagonia products
the courier bag is very lightweight and stowable -but also capacious-look forward to relying on it daily when i travel in andalucia in two weeks...the zippered outer and inner pockets are an esp useful -as is the fact that the whole top of the bag zips closed...

Lightweight, rugged, carries a lot...great day bag
It has now replaced my older "half mass" bag for work and will soon be put to the test with a month of airline travel. It carries books, lunch, supplies, water and an extra microfleece with room to spare. Zippers are rugged, do not snag. Shoulder strap is easily adjustable and every comfortable. Another piece of well thought out, well built gear from Patagonia.

great shoulder bag
big fan of patagonia. this is another wonderful patagonia product from a company that produces terrific gear, and has strong environmental/activist core values. however, the hue on the "black" is nothing like the black shown on the online picture...it's instead a deep chocolate-like color... (and it folds almost as small as the amazing houdini jacket)

Not Suitable for What I'd Intended
I ordered this bag in advance of extended travel I plan to do in North Africa and the Middle East over a period of 5 months during which I'll need things that pack "into" themselves. However, when this arrived and I put things into it like my SLR camera, travel guide, etc., I felt a bit like I was carrying a sack of potatoes around in a big purple plastic shopping bag. Not quite what I'd hoped for! I bought the Patagonia backpack in the same color and material recently and I think that I'm going to fare much better with that. The search for a suitable courier/day bag continues.
