A multipurpose sock, easily adaptable to a myriad of conditions and terrain. The fabric package combines the natural performance benefits of chlorine-free merino wool with the brawn of nylon and polyester for equal parts warmth, strength and wickability. Variable-knit construction increases cushion to the heel and toes and banishes excess heat and moisture from the arch of the foot. The elastic welt stays in place without being restrictive, and the looped Lintoe® construction creates a smooth, flat seam for ultimate toe comfort. Made in USA.

Support and comfort are great with these socks, and feet don't get sweaty and hot even after all day use. The wool footbed really sets them apart from other brands. Great deal when on sale.

Lately I have worn these socks all day with regular shoes, and then used them for my gym workout later. It is nice to know one sock can take me through the day and night; they are not bad-looking. They feel like they are "support" socks, with the tightness around the arch; they feel alive (in a good way). The color (gray-beige with olive stripe) is subtle, thank goodness, without being boring. As someone else said, the Small size is a bit tight around the ankle, but at least they stay up that way. I have been machine-washing, but hanging them up to dry. They seem to like that. The only thing that remains to be seen is: How many months before a hole appears in the toe? I hope NEVER, but we shall see!
Anonymous - 2007-01-03nice socks, a bit pricey, smallish fit
My past experience with Patagonia socks has been hit and miss. They appear and depart only to reappear in their product line. These woolies feel non-scratchy, the mid-weight is a true designation, nice for wear in a variety of warm-to-cold conditions. Especially nice for wearing with approach/walking shoes for all-day urban treks & museum wandering. Still, the fit is a bit snug in the calf and the premium pricing suggests other brands are as well 'engineered' and much better value.
