Men's Araveto Jacket 4.3 5 19 19
A little expensive... It's a good fleece jacket, very comfy and good quality, but not as good as other patagonia products. It looks like they wear very fast. I bought two of these and use them very often. I don't regret buying them, just think there are other brands that offer the same for less money. August 19, 2011
Stylish, very comfortable fleece I really like this jacket! Like other Patagonia jackets, this one is of great quality. The "fleece" is way more comfortable/soft than I'd originally anticipated. It is quite warm while not suffocating. I have not yet worn it through a Minnesota winter to confirm whether or not it could be worn as a stand alone jacket, but I'd wager that it'd be close. That said, I have not yet had a problem with wind, though that may be subject to change as things change from 40 degree to negative degree weather! As for sizing, I'd say it does run true-to-size. I bought a size large, and it fits alright, if not a bit on the loose end--I'm 6' tall and weigh 175lbs. This brings me to my only minor complaint about it; it doesn't have a synch cord to adjust/tailor the fit of the jacket. Other than that, excellent quality and design...I really like the zippers these guys use as well! May 11, 2011
Mid layer more than a jacket. Bought oversized to wear as a jacket. From that perspective i've been mostly happy. The wind resistance is mostly non-existant. The feel is buttery soft, and after 6 months of wear....you wouldn't know it. I'd go with proper size next time, and likely be a much happier duck. May 5, 2011
Buttery Fleece This fleece material is exceptionally nice. It is lightweight, similar to a Polartec 100 weight (but maybe more like a 120). I'm 5'11" and ~160 lbs. and a medium was absolutely perfect - nicely fitted and slim but in no way restricting, able to fit even a lightweight, close-fitting button-down shirt underneath, good length in the arms and cut for reaching without "jacket rise," and layers under a semi-fitted shell without really knowing that it's there. The elastic in the cuffs and at the bottom fit just right. Overall, just a superb fleece that you hardly know is there and is completely non-restrictive of movement. With that said, I did end up sending mine back. Not because of anything at all having to do with quality issues, but because I could not imagine when I would choose this over an R1 pullover, jacket, or hoodie, as both fill nearly the same niche. The Araveto has a "silkier hand" and is superbly comfortable and well-fitted, but from purely a functional standpoint, I think the R1 has the edge. The Araveto is super breathable and seemed to add meaningful warmth only when paired with a shell. The R1, however, with its smooth exterior and inner grid pattern, add some warmth even without a shell, being just a hair more wind resistant. End result - while I love the Araveto, when I purchase my next thin, light, packable fleece, it'll still be an R1. April 12, 2011
Warm not fitted I believe this is a great product. Very warm. Good arm length. I am a thin man 6'7, 205. A little loose fitting but is fine with layers under jacket. Good purchase March 28, 2011
Nice lightweight thing for mild weather This jacket is super comfortable and looks great-- especially if regular fit covering seems a bit baggy on you (I'm hopelessly skinny; not bragging, just something I can't do anything about). It's comparable to hoodies in terms of protection from the elements (obviously, I'm not considering the hood bit). Not much wind protection, but just what you would need over a T-shirt when it's just a bit cool out. The jacket isn't so form fitting though that you couldn't layer underneath for chillier conditions. Also a great fit for the longer arm crowd, like me. I'm 5'11" and 150lb with a medium. March 16, 2011
This is a great fall and spring lightweight fleece jacket. It has a slim fit. The medium is perfect for me, I'm 6'2'' and 160 lbs. It could be used in the winter layered under a shell. I have used it about 6 months, the only slight problem is matting of the fleece at the elbows. I liked the first jacket so much I bought another in a different color. January 5, 2011
Better than a sweatshirt I love Patagonia products so go ahead and take this review with a grain of salt. I always find something to love about Patagonia so needless to say I found the positives of this jacket. It's very lightweight so basically this is an alternative to a sweatshirt. It's warm for its weight and very comfy but if you live anywhere that has a real winter then get something more substantial. I live in Southern California and this is perfect for our chilly, foggy mornings. The fit is very slim which is a good thing because most Patagonia jackets seem to run large. So if you are looking for a casual wear jacket to keep the chill off this is a good choice. November 15, 2010
nice and light wear for fall weather. i love patagonia swim wears so i decided to give this jacket a chance. so far i like it. i purchased a medium and it's kind of on the loose side(i'm 5'11 and 165lbs). i think it makes a perfect casual urban wear. November 8, 2010
Another great product from Pata! I love Patagonia products, I've always been a fan :) As much as possible I look at buying my outdoor gear from them. In this case I was looking for a warm versatile fleece that I could use while camping or trekking as well as when I go out for coffee or take a walk in the neighbourhood. And this fleece is perfect for this. The only thing I would say, is that the problem between Patagonia and me is the fit! I'm 6'6'' and thin, so it's always a challenge to find a jacket that will fit my long arms and will not be too large. In this case I choose the size large and since the fleece as a slim fit, it's ok, but not perfect... But hey! what to do! Hope this help. October 13, 2010
Great jacket...Better sizing Great jacket but huge difference between the size L and size M...the size L swallows me whole, and the M is just a bit too small...do not understand why all these companies make a Medium (38 -40) while the Large jumps up to (42-44) where is the size (40 -42)??? Just a thought to ponder. October 13, 2010
The only issue is the zipper catches, otherwise, great item! September 16, 2010
Fantastic Jacket It is a bit warm to wearing it consistently, but on a cool night at the beach it was the perfect layer. Warm enough to keep me comfy, but not so heavy to feel cumbersome. just one more quality Patagonia item in my closet August 9, 2010
Year round staple I bought this jacket for my husband and he wears it all year round. It's always perfect for day to day wear or even layering during the winter. Highly recommend. July 12, 2010
LOVE IT I love this fleece jacket! It's the softest and most comfortable fleece jacket I own. I can't say enough good things about the Araveto jacket. As far as fit, I'm 5'11" and 175lbs and the L fits me well. May 13, 2010
Can't beat it for this price Great for fall but as one of the reviewers said--it was thinner than I thought it would be----overall I am pleased with the quality. It is perfect for layering. October 30, 2009
Another Quality Patigonia Product! The Araveto jacket is perfect for that chilly Fall night. Not too heavy, but still keeps the cold away. Love the tapered bottom, falls perfectly around the waist! October 29, 2009
Great Product. I really love it. Like the color and it was a a great price. Perfect fall time jacket. Would be Ok in the winter time with an outer shell/ October 28, 2009
Not quite what I was looking for... While a good fleece, it was much smaller than I thought. A medium fit more like a small. I found it to be quite thin as well, not as warm as the North Face I bought! October 17, 2009
