Nice pants
February 08, 2011
Comfortable, very nicely made. I bought them to use skiing and telemarking. They are perfect for temperate days, but I am not sure they would be my first choice for subzero cold. Nice fit, true to size. I am not really sure how they will do in the brambles in the woods...

Very good for backcountry snowbording

The Backcountry Guide Pant is the best pant I've found for backcountry skiing. A perfect mid-weight soft shell, with waterproof panels on the butt and knees to keep you dry while sitting down for lunch or kneeling to rip skins. Fits over even an alpine boot easily with the minimalist style gators. Huge side vents help dump heat, and the whole pant breathes well. Slimmer fitting than a traditional ski pant from Patagonia, but not tight by any means. Great in a variety of temps, and still good nasty weather protection w/ the DWR on the soft shell.

Great all purpose mountain pants
August 19, 2010
Overall, this is a great pair of pants. I used mine as my primary skiing and winter mountaineering pants last year (20+ days on the slopes and 12+ peakbagging). I initially balked at the price of the pants, but have found them to be worth every penny. They are comfortable, stretch well, breathe, and are durable. I was nervous that the softshell would not be water-resistant enough for long days in the snow, but it kept me dry in all sorts of conditions including sitting on the chairlift covered in wet snow. The vents are great, although I hardly ever used them as the pants breath very well. Nitpick: small awkward pocket, I'd prefer something larger; at this price they should include a belt.
Great Pants!

Awesome pants, very well constructed and allow for a great range of motion. While I haven't been skiing in them yet, they work well for glissades and snow climbs. While not quite waterproof, they're pretty water resistant. A definite recommendation!
