Sizing ChartPatagonia Men's Baggies Short
Ready for anything, or nothing, Baggies don't see much time in a dresser or closet. Their casual fit and water-repellent nylon (now slightly heavier to prevent see-through) suit them to a noontime dip in the stream, an evening stroll on the beach or a post-midnight game of hold 'em. Polyester mesh lining, self-draining pockets, a rear snap pocket and a 5" inseam (size M). Regular fit.
- 4.2-oz 100% nylon with DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Lining: 5.2-oz 100% polyester mesh
- Quick-drying nylon fabric; now in a slightly heavier weight
- Elasticized waistband with internal drawstring; mesh liner
- Vertical on-seam side pockets for reduced drag in the water; pocket bags have quick-drain-and-dry mesh corners; snap rear pocket
- 5" inseam
- 190 g (6.7 oz)

My husband has worn Men's Baggies exclusively forever. When the last set showed signs of wear--the elastic on legs at netting was shot after four years--I replaced them with a new pair. I washed them when they arrived and then did not tell my husband they were new because he is anti-consumerism. And guess what--he did not know they were new, had no idea anything was different. How's that for the same great product that never changes. In point of fact, the shorts are still good--just the elastic went bad.

They're so because they are classic, comfortable, and functional. They haven't changed much over the years - like pinpoint Oxford shirts and penny loafers; for some people that's not a bad thing.

I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in one pair of these shorts (with the liner cut out to eliminate chafing), and I still wear them as swim trunks. I replaced a lot of gear on the AT, but I never thought about replacing these shorts, because they're durable, comfortable, and they dry really fast.

Great shorts, well-designed and go with anything. Comfy relaxed cut. Not sure why they need a snap button back pocket but they have one. Would have preferred just a velcro closure or no back pocket at all. These are built to last so consider that when you see the price tag.

What's to say? This is my third pair of Patagonia Baggies. I wear them for working out, day hiking, and backpacking. They are comfortable, long lasting, and work well under a hipbelt. The only improvement I would like, (actually, a separate model, I guess, would be a zip fly, when I'm wearing a hipbelt, to facilitate matters.

So far, I have worn them running, in the pool, and in the gym. They dry fast, and the liner is comfortable. You could wear these shorts for almost any fitness activity. The back pocket has a snap, so you can carry keys or cash and not worry about losing them.

Great all-around active wear shorts, especially if you are going to be in, on or around water, or if you like having the ability to wash your shorts in a stream or sink and air dry overnight.
These are cut great to fit and they are durable. I own several pairs. I'm a professional outdoor photographer, leaving in a few days to fish, hike and shoot in Utah, and I'll wear these nearly every day of the two-week trip.

These shorts are great. I have used them as a swimsuit and as running shorts for years. They really hold up and are great for when it gets hot.

I've worn these shorts for running, swimming, and sunning and found them to be great. The front pockets are the deepest pockets on any shorts I've found of this type. The shorts wash and dry well and look good even for casual wear.

The fabric is great--I have taken them on trips, washed them out at night and worn the next day. One drawback of these shorts is that they do not have a zip pocket. The mesh lining can be a bit cumbersome, particularly if you plan to wear boxers or underpants.

First, let me comment on the color. Real red is not the timeless shade of red you would expect from Patagonia. It is more of a red/orange which is currently in fashion and will be out of style by next year. Secondly, the front pocket openings have an hourglass effect when you put your hands in them. You kind of go through a large opening and then squeeze your hand into a large pocket. Other than these two issues this pair of baggies should be great for swimming and running.
