Men's Capilene 1 Crew 4.9 5 62 62
It's musthave item This ia a great shirt for any season. I wear it as a base layer in the winter, it very comfotable fit in shirt. This is enough to warm baserayer every winter condition.(Hiking, Fishing, town wear) I'll use it as a T-shirt in the summer. Because Capilene 1 is light weight and extreemly comfortable and They breath extremly well in hot weather. They also dry quickly when wet. I especially like how compact they pack for travel. February 2, 2012
PataGUCCI Everyone knows about Capilene material from PataGUCCI. It doesn't get any better as a primary layer in cold weather. Tried it once as a rash guard surfing, however, and when it got wet it seemed to pick up a little more friction...actually gave me a bit of a rash. Stick to the cold stuff. January 13, 2012
white capilene a lttle bit small in the body, which is good for the first layer---- overall like it a lot---cost is high but great quality--feels good against skin---altrec has shown me great customer service December 30, 2011
quality base Nice quality base layer that breaths well and gets the job done for hikes with cool mornings but warm day time temps. great for shoulder seasons in the northeast September 28, 2011
One of the best base layers around! The Patagonia capilene line is awesome. They haVe four different types of capilene; each for a different weather condition and temperature. The capilene 1 is the lightest. It is made of 100% polyester, which dries very fast. However, the texture and feel is almost exactly like silk. I take an xl, and I feel like It fits me very well. Most t shirts that I have fit me like a pup tent, meaning they fit ok in the shoulders, but are much too wide around the waist. The capilene 1 fits so much better, so if I don't tuck it in, it doesn't flap in the breeze. Even though the fabric is thin, it is very durable. As I read the reviews, it sound like most people prefer the cap 2 above the cap 1. However I like the cap 1 better. The reason being that if I don't shave for a day or two and wear the cap 2, my whiskers sometimes rub against the fabric of the shirt and create pilling under the chin and on the shoulders. The cap one has never pilled, even a little bit. I got most of my cap 1 shirts on sale. Even though I really like them, I'd have a hard time paying full price for them. September 16, 2011
light I used it for climbing to prevent from scratches and sun exposure. Great piece of clothing, feels cool even in superhot weather. Warning: 1 day use max as its synthetic and will stink. August 31, 2011
Runs way small Unlike my other two Capilene long sleeve tops this one ran small. Also, the silky finish of the Capilene 1 is kinda creepy. I love it in my capilene bottoms but it felt a little weird as a top. I had to return it. May 26, 2011
Just what I wanted I found this Patagonia product, in black, in Belgium. The white version is wonderful. Just warm enough, but cool enough not to overheat. Wore in 30 degrees (-1 C) as my only shirt during a 40 minute run. Perfect. May 19, 2011
fixedgearrider I use the long sleeve crew neck as a summer undershirt. It offers 15-UPF sun protection so I don't need to use pore clogging sunblock. Moisture management is excellent. I feel cooler than with out it. The Texas summer sun is brutal. May 12, 2011
Design change has me upset Patagonia never fails to amaze me with their downhill slide in design. While the company touts advances in its fabric technology, the design of the shirts goes downhill. The older Capilene 1 shirt was an awesome RAGLAN sleeve shirt. The awesome fit of that raglan sleeve shirt has been replaced by... well.... something that just does not flatter the chest and shoulders. You have a function shirt that just doesn't fit as well in the armpit and shoulders. A 5 star shirt has now become a 4 star shirt. Bring back the old design! March 16, 2011
Capilene 1 Crew Patagonia's layering system is second to none. I know that I am ready for anything and comfortable, too. Really fabulous! Certainly it is a "must have". February 25, 2011
Great lightweight layer This is a Great lightweight layer .it's very breathable and I ride alone a lot and like how capilene drys fast and feels like silk. I wear it around even when I am just sitting around at home because it is so comfortable. November 12, 2010
Great Shirt I'm a big fan of the Patagonia Capilene 1 Crew Shirt. Its one of my most versatile shirts. I wear them as a base layer in the winter and as an outerlayer in hot conditions. It is extremely comfortable no matter when I wear it. Pluses: lightweight, fast drying, some sun protection, comfortable, and packs compact for travel. No negatives. November 11, 2010
great base layer green, light, smooth to the touch, great wicking base layer. size runs true November 10, 2010
Versatile The Patagonia Crew Capilene 1 Baselayer is a warm, super ligthweight, durable, technical piece. The minus one star on the fit is due to the neck opening: it is a bit snug. November 2, 2010
Classic product of patagonia it is very comfortable and soft, breathable, the ideal usages are hiking, treking, and daily activity. October 16, 2010
very light and comfortable This shirt is very light and almost feels like I'm wearing no shirt. The fit was true to size - a little baggy (but I'm thinner than average). Makes a great base layer. September 26, 2010
365.25 days Honestly, I wear a capilene 1 crew every single day. I work outdoors in North Carolina, and these guys wick the sweat away and offer evaporative cooling during the ridiculous summers and are a very comfy first layer during the colder months. Pricey, but definitely worth it and are very durable (like most Patagonia stuff). An added bonus for you taller people is that they are plenty long enough to tuck in. I'm 6'2" and mine stay put most of the time. Far and away the best base layer out there for any climate. September 17, 2010
Perefct Base Layer! Thin, comfortable, silky smooth well made and fits great. Don't change a thing! September 1, 2010
Best base layer out there! High quality, silky smooth. Drys before I even think to take it off, and is low on the stink factor. And its pretty light to boot! July 1, 2010
Great Product!! Shirt is excellent quality, soft, warm and lightweight. Great service, fast and efficient. June 3, 2010
Very Versatile Perfect weight layer for cool and warm weather activities, means I wear this practically year round. Besides active use, it also works great for casual use - by itself, beneath a tee or polo, beneath a sweater, etc without adding too much bulk. Great for traveling, too. Just a great all-around piece, everyone should have a few! May 23, 2010
Great sun protection, not too hot I bought this for my husband, who needed sun protection while hiking. He thinks it's comfortable for a long-sleeve shirt, and it's not too hot. May 10, 2010
Great Hot and Cold Patagonia Capilene is my standard for active wear. Has a great feel as a base layer and easy to pack. Highly recommended. May 3, 2010
Fabulous! great material, great fit. May 1, 2010
Won't Travel Without Them I have worn these in the cold Illinois weather here and they are such a perfect baselayer. They are definitely worth the money, I won't go hiking without them. April 28, 2010
Great shirt Feels great, fits good, especially in the shoulders, where I find many shirts to be too tight on me. The length of the shirt was plenty long to tuck in too. April 16, 2010
Great basic piece Nice, smooth, snag-free fabric. Wicks well and is a versatile weight. Typically high Patagonia quality and holds up after many use-laundry cycles. I own several of the tops. March 18, 2010
AN ABSOLUTE STAPLE This is a product I have been wearing for at least 15 yrs now. Worn it in all conditions, from after a day at the beach, to climbing in the Atlas Mtns in Morocco, & to well below zero as part of a layering system. Great for the real cold believe it or not as a first layer when you know you're going to be pouring sweat no matter how cold it is...and then of course the necessity to dry fast, which Cap 1 always does. Couldn't live without it, I mean it, it is my absolute 'go to' baselayer for almost any situation. March 17, 2010
The best underwear ever! I gave a set of Capilene tops and bottoms to my hubby, and he says it's the best under wear ever! They keep him toasty warm and fit well under his clothes without feeling bulky. We live in Wisconsin and spend a lot of time outdoors in cold and damp weather, so we give clothes like this a good test. He's given the Capilenes enthusiastic thumbs up. March 8, 2010
lightweight A thin baselayer that goes with everything. February 4, 2010
Great shirt I am 6'3" 197lb guy and the large is a great fit for me. Very comfortable and dissipates moisture very quickly. January 31, 2010
I love these long sleeve crews from pagagonia I must have 5 or 10 of these now. They are lightweight and great by themselves or under sweaters. They wear very well and don't lose their fit over the day like other shirts. January 2, 2010
My son loved this shirt. He is outdoors alot and this shirt is a great layering one. December 22, 2009
The Best Base Layer You can't beat the Capilene 1 crew for for camping, hiking, trail running, etc...I wear mine through all four seasons in the Pacific Northwest. December 16, 2009
Great Product! Ok, now I've got this base layer in black. Performs as expected. Smoothly fits under all layers without adding bulk. Great for Sleeping too! December 11, 2009
Great Base Layer I have been using a similar shirt from Patagonia for many years and finally decided to get a new one. Love it. Got white, which is nice even in warmer weather as sun protection. Would definitely buy again. December 9, 2009
Just don't order the white...Stains easily Bought this shirt in white. The fabric holds on to stains. Even after the wash, there were stains that I swore I never got! BUT...this shirt functions as promised, and will return it for a darker shirt October 20, 2009
Fantastic Product I have found the Capilene series to be the best base layer. The quality is outstanding and the fit is perfect for my 6'2" 185lbs frame (large). I highly recommend this product! October 18, 2009
Outstanding! I normally use the long sleeve for late fall and winter.....but, I found on the 09 SS #1 Capilene T's, the neck holes were too small (an issue I have not had since buying these shirts). Not so on the long sleeve. So, I am now using these year round. Result, I returned all the 09 SS's and now have 3 new LS #1 Cap T shirts, and these are the best fitting T's they have made since I have been buying them. This is the only T shirt material I can go through the woods with and not worry about pulls in the fabric due to stickers or issues using backpacks or life jackets. I have yet to wear out even one Patagonia T shirt. Be nice if Patagonia would bring back some of the colors from previous years however! I am not aware of any other company that makes a bullet proof shirt like this. I pair this with their Houdini UL jacket, which I just can not be without. August 5, 2009
Great! A warm underlayer or worn alone, this shirt gets high marks for comfort, warmth, good fit and good looks. So it's an all around winner for the colder times. Fit is snug and fabric doesn't seem to absorb much odor. Easy to wash and it drys very quickly. May 1, 2009
Very Good Base Layer Recently wore the Patagonia Capilene 1 Crew on a rather warm and windy December hike at Mammoth Cave National Park. The shirt served initially as a base layer under a windshirt and later in the day as my only outer layer as the day warmed even more and my activity level increased. The shirt performed as stated and kept me dry and cool. I own several of Patagonias Capilene products and use them as my primary base layer. December 29, 2008
Perfect These are so great that I keep ordering more. The most comfortable undershirt I have found, weather skiing or under business attire. January 6, 2008
Terrific Excellent year round shirt! Black is a must. December 7, 2007
I LOVE IT AWESOME, SOFT AS SILK AND COOL AS A GOOD LOOKING SPORT SHIRT .IT MADE ME MORE GOOD LOOKING WHEN I WEAR IT WITH MY JEANS. October 30, 2007
great shirt After burning myself to a crisp scalloping, this was the only shirt I could tolerate for a few days. Worth every penny August 15, 2007
Great summer shirt Wearing these shirts outdoors in the summer keeps me cool and prevents sunburn. There are no seams on the shoulders, so nothing digs into you when wearing a pack. I wonder why they didn't do the shoulders on the short sleeve version the same way. July 25, 2007
Great jersey Loved this shirt. Great for workouts, hiking and general outdoor use. Wicks the sweat away during hot blazing days so you feel cool, very cool. June 25, 2007
phenomenastic Patagonia's Capilene 1 has been lauded by many devoted fans and neophytes alike due to being so technically advanced and cool fit for daily wear. This is a great shirt for when you need a bit more warmth and or coverage than the Capilene T. One (two)small issues with it: The neck seems snugger than it was on the Capilene Silkweight, and this is something of a problem for me. And, I really wish they would make it in solid dark colors, rather than the two-tones. However, it's such an amazing shirt that you adjust... Highly recommend it for all-weather: wear it by itself or layer it. June 15, 2007
Breathable / Dynamic This is better than the Capilene 2, in my opinion. Only because it's easier to layer on top... (layers slide on easier) and it's great as a standalone in warmer weather. We just recently had a heat wave of 95 degree weather and I kept nice and cool, while outside, in my white capilene 1 crew. June 5, 2007
Men's & Women's Capilene crew, longsleeves. I bought one for myself last year and kayaked all summer in it. Kept me cool, dry and protected from the sun. I just purchased another for myself and one for my husband. We both did a kayak race in them last weekend. 85 degrees and muggy. We were just as comfortable as people in tank tops, but WE didn't get sunburned! June 4, 2007
Patagonia Capilene 1 Crew This is a great base layer, fits close, and very smooth next to the skin fit. I used it on biking, running, and it's perfect for me on these outings. May 30, 2007
just right. easy dry, perfect fit, expect great performance as first layer. May 19, 2007
best hot weather underlayment I use my Capilene 1 crew under my motorcycling clothing. It's the only fabric that wicks the moisture away and allows me take off my gear without sticking to my skin during the hot, dog days of summer March 8, 2007
Warm shirt without the bulk These Capilene shirts are incredibly warm without adding bulk. I wear these under my shirt and the fabric is not abrasive at all. Great buy for an underlayer in those cold wintery conditions. February 9, 2007
Patagonia Silkweight Crew I have about a dozen capilene silkweight crew shirts, including the newer version. They not only come in great colors, but feel very comfortable and still look great after several washings. They are very stylish shirts, completely opposite of long underwear. I wear them to work out, as they are so comfortable. Highly recomend. January 15, 2007
I do a lot of outdoor running, and this capilene crew provides incredible wicking. I bought one back in '98 and it still looks brand new. The newer version, however, resists odor better than my old one. You will have more than one of these in your closet, I promise you. January 6, 2007
It's great! The husband loves your products. He works outside as a roofer and has sworn by Capilene for years. January 3, 2007
Best shirt I purchase one and after I wear it for the first time I decided to buy 4 more. It is just that comfortable. January 3, 2007
Wonderful product This is a wonderful product. The fit is amazing. Even though this is light material it does the job of keeping me warm, and is not itchy. December 18, 2006
I love this shirt! I purchased the Capilene shirt in March for an April run to Lake Tahoe. Great end-of-season snow made for an excellent trip. I wore this shirt alone under my Descente jacket on most days. When we received snow and the temp dropped I put on a Patagonia fleece as a middle layer and was snug as a bug. This shirt since has been worn a lot. The lightweight, silky smooth feel and perfect layer of warmth provided make for one of my most favorite shirts. The wicking ability is perfect for Texas winters which start off in the 40's and are in the 70's after lunch. This shirt keeps me dry and warm without overheating which is all I could ever ask. I highly recommend this shirt. This and and a mid-weight Patagonia along with a fleece and a good shell/jacket and you can mix-and-match for any US skiing. Great shirt and great service and support from Altrec makes for a perfect combo. ~T November 7, 2006
Pricey, but nice. I didn't know they made clothes like this for men. I bought them for the upsoming ski season, and have been wearing them pretty much continuosly since. Last weekend made 14 gallons of cider and this weekend dug potaotes and mulched the garden. They stay clean, unwrinkled ... and just feel good. My 11 year old daughter is trying to steal them!
