This is a very comfortable long sleeve shirt and base layer.A great base layer under a flannel shirt or jacket. This three season shirt also looks good alone.

I bought this because I was looking for a non-compression base layer for cold weather hiking. I am more than impressed with the comfort of this top. I am 6'3" and 185 lbs. It is form fitting but not too tight. That is exactly what I was looking for. It is warm but breaths, wicking away moisture. This top is very lightweight and takes up very little space in my pack. Great for taking anywhere I go in case I encounter cold weather.
Great Lightweight Base Layer

This is a most versatile lightweight base layer. I like being able to sleep in this shirt while backpacking. I hope out of the bag ready to go with the shirt on chilly mornings - with additional layers as needed. As the day warms up I shed the outer layers. If it gets hot I roll up the sleeves. Patagonia quality with high tech Capilene fabric. It works!

"This Cap 2 fits perfectly under my R2 Its keeps my skin cool and is a great layering piece. When the temperature starts rising it is fine as a stand alone. Has Gladiodor to keep the smell away. It keeps you dry.

There are days i wish all clothes were made from Patagonia's capilene and this shirt reinforces this belief. Versatile on its own and a great layering piece. the longer body makes it easier to tuck than some other shirts. not as smooth as Cap 1 SW and runs a little bigger than some Cap 1 SW shirts i have.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts foreverVersatile long sleeve shirt

Ordered both the Capilene 1 & 2 long sleeve crews recently. The Capilene 2 appears to be the more versatile of these two great shirts. I don't see wearing the Capilene 1 by itself in casual settings (due to how sheer it is#, but the Capilene 2 will be a go to casual shirt for me. It looks good, provides a little warmth and breaths so well that overheating shouldn't be a problem. So far, I've found it to be great for cool weather runs and workouts (50's to low 60's). I also plan on using it as a base layer for skiing and other cold weather activities. I'm a lanky 6' 2" / 180 pounds (16.5 - 34/35 in dress shirts). The large fits just how I like it - not snug, but not loose either. The neck seems typical of crews - collar close to the neck, but not tight. The sleeves run a little long, but don't slide down over my hands. The body is long enough to keep tucked in if wanted. My only concern with the shirt is that the fabric is pretty light and may be subject to snagging. That seems like an unavoidable trade off with the level of breathability. All and all, highly recommended.
Pros: Great design, Performance, versatileGood warmth.

Capilene 2 crew fits differently than the Capilene 3. My torso is kinda long: the medium 3 fits me best, while the in Capilene 2, the large is a better fit. So my advice for taller, skinny people stuck in between sizes, go large for the Capilene 2. Capilene 2 has provided me with good warmth and wicking capabilities on cold, active days.
