Nice Performance!
February 16, 2011
Purchased these for winter trail running and hiking. So far they are working out very well. Nice and warm and the build quality is high. I have a 32" waist and I'm 6' 1" tall. I purchased a medium size and the fit is a little snug and the inseam is on the short side. I wish these came in a tall size. Otherwise, a great performance layer!
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceAbsolutely perfect!
January 18, 2011
The Capilene 3 base layer system is absolutely perfect in the conditions I used them in. I recently wore these on a weekend backpacking trip and discovered that they will very easily keep you warm in 40 degree f temps if you are only mildly active, and keep you warm in 50 degree f temps if you are standing still. During moderate activity I began to get a little too warm, but lucky for me this base layer is excellent at wicking and quick drying. For wood gathering and processing in 40 degree temps the Capilene 3s did seem to get a tad warm. Time for me to pick up some Capilene 2s! Would absolutely recommend to everyone I know.

Patagonia Cap3 bottoms
November 17, 2010
Love these bottom layers. Perfect under ski pants as a base layer. I like these for colder days for a little extra warmth than Cap2.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: priceySooooo warm!
December 10, 2010
Worn under jeans, Capilene 3 bottoms can keep me warm through the coldest of Chicago winters. I do find that they are a bit too warm to be worn for long in most heated indoor environments, so if I'm going to be going in and out frequently, I'll wear Capilene 2 bottoms instead. But for all-day-outside warmth in the bitter cold, nothing beats these Capilene 3 bottoms.

Patagonia makes top of the line baselayers for comfort, warmth and moisture wicking. The new Caplilene 3 bottoms are an improvement on prior versions.

Hard to Beat

I've used the Cap gear from Patagonia in all kinds of different environments in various conditions all around the world. Bought these Cap 3 bottoms for a backpacking trek in the Smoky Mtns. I have no doubt they will be great.

I love Capilene products and this was no exception. Highly recommended as the best overall base layer around.
Nice fabric

Great baselayer, light and warm, quick drying and comfortable. Will purchase again.
great base layer

I wear a pair of these bottoms (and matching top) every day for six months out of the year here in Alaska. They hold heat in when you're not moving and dissipate perspiration well when you are. They're also quite comfortable to wear. When it gets really cold, I simply put more layers on over them. I'm 6', 195 and I wear the extra large. I do think they run slightly small, so I'd order up if you're on the fence about sizes.

Temps are starting to drop in the evening and mornings as we approach fall in michigan, just wore these bottoms for the first time fly fishing for salmon in the betsie river in northwest michigan. I have them in xxl. I am 6' tall, weigh 255 lbs with a 40 inch waist. They fit extremely well under my bootfoot waders. The bottoms provide warmth and moisture control when you need it. For example, early morning fishing required half mile walk to the river with changes in grade. never felt overheated walking with the waders on and once in the water had the warmth needed for being comfortable. I think they did an excellent job on the seams and the waistband, providing the strength and durability you want but without sacrificing comfort. Patagonia does such a great job with the capilene line and they keep finding ways to make it better.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useLatest version of the excellent midweight Capilene
October 28, 2010
Patagonia's Midweight Caplilene has been one of the best performing long underwear fabrics for years, and this is their latest version. Warm but also temperature regulating, will not get sweaty. Comfortable and without much bulk. Easy care and durable. With the older versions it is very hard to wear them out, so Patagonia has a great track record. And they got rid of the cliched name on the waistband, class. All around, hard to beat.

Light and Small Volume

Light and small volume were desired and delivered.

Bought this bottom for a ski trip to Korea later in December. I remember that I was too cold the first time I went and too hot the 2nd time I went. This bottom seem to be a happy compromise between those two earlier baselayers. The sizing is exactly as described on the Patagonia website and provides a skin tight fit. So far so good. Let's see how well it holds up at at Yongpyong!
Capilene is the best
February 03, 2011
I am not sure why but Patagonia's Capilene seems to keep me the warmest. Regardless of the weight I have on it keeps me warm. It works great for all my indoor \ outdoor activities.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: CostLove them
December 26, 2007
Bought these for my husband. The perfect compliment to the capilene 3 top. Fit very true to size. Close fitting, yet he is able to use a knee support sleeve under the bottoms without any bunching or fit problems. Warm enough to run outdoors in the winter in these with sweats on top. Since I first bought these, I have gone back and bought additional pairs.

Best baselayer I owned. it 's much better than old version Capilene 3 bottom. It could provide me much warm , moreover, it's very breathable. The reason is that its material is different from old version. This new version is more quick dry. I feel very comfy with it. But it 's a little larger than old one.
Great Baselayer
December 31, 2010
I've got about four days experience wearing Patagonia's Capilene 3 Midweight Top and Bottoms. I'm not sure why they are considered midweight as they are as light as can be, can't even tell your wearing them. Both the top and bottoms provided good insulation with excellent wicking characteristics.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityBest non wool midweight baselayer available
February 07, 2011
I own 6 full sets of Patagonia`s Midweight Capilene 3. It is the best non wool base layer that I have found! Living here, in the Highlands, you must have warm clothing that is lightweight, comfortable and warm. I wear both the top and bottom every single day as my base layer. Its been a cold and snowy season here this year and this midweight base, in my opinion, is the best you can buy! Order your normal size, you will be glad you did!
Pros: warm wash and dry, extremely comfortableDid you recently buy the Patagonia Capilene 3 Midweight Bottoms? Write a review.
High Quality Product
June 10, 2010
Needed something comfortable and warm to sleep in while backpacking, and these pants fit the bill. Lightweight, high quality stitching, and moisture wicking make these a great pair of long underwear. Can't wait to try them out as a base layer while hiking in cold weather.
Good Product
September 16, 2010
Very good quality. Comfortable and stretchable. I bought one size bigger and it fits well.
Pros: Build qualityBest capilene yet
November 02, 2010
I have worn patagonia thermals for 20+ years, and this new capilene 3 is the best yet. They are alot softer, very breathable, dry out almost immediately, and fit like a glove. They also stretch better than previous capilenes. I would recomend these over any previous capilene, they are significantly improved over last years' capilene 3 and any capilenes' I've owned in the past in the past.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat product
October 28, 2009
You can't go wrong with Cap-3. It may be more expensive but Patagonia quality and performance make it well worth the money. I like that this line is cut long for those of us with longer arms and legs. No high water problems with this product.
wow!!!! just what i`m looking 4

I plan on buying at least 2 pair, and the above comments were very helpful. Thank you
just right
January 05, 2010
I use these as a base layer for running or x country skiing in very cold windy conditions. Not too warm and minimal sweating. Excellent comfort as I don't even notice I have them on which is exactly what i wanted
Perfect
May 12, 2010
Warm comfortable doesn't itch and doesn't get too smelly. Capilene has been the best base layer for me in all situations. (I wear these below freezing).
Great choice!
January 25, 2010
Keeps me warm in single digit temps, but keeps moisture off when it is warmer.
nice fitting
April 22, 2011
i like the fit, its just right for me (6 foot, 190 pounds). haven't tested them in the snow yet, but its hard to go wrong with baselayers. im keeping them.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityBest long underwear!
January 25, 2013
Been wearing the tops and bottoms for years. They are warm, comfortable and durable after many washings. You can rely on Patagonia capeline.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of useVery great baselayer
October 24, 2010
I've only had one chance to use both top and bottom. I shoveled snow on drive in Northeastern Ohio, temp around 10 degrees. Shoveled for about 1 1/2 hours. I wore a hooded sweatshirt and jeans. I was very comfortable no sweat no overheating, just right. I will strongly recommend to others.
Pros: Performance, Great valuePatagonia Wins Again
February 01, 2010
What can I say, Patagonia never lets me down. I recently purchased a set of Feather Grey Patagonia Capilene 3 Top and Bottom long johns. Earlier in the season I purchased a pair from a competing brand, and was quickly disappointed. I have worn my Cap 3's on cold days to the office, around the house, and this weekend on a ski trip. The temps were frigid, and the fresh snow was making conditions white out at some points but I never got cold. At the end of a long day on the slopes, I was still warm but not soaked in sweat like some of my friends. Definitely a must buy that can be worn in all conditions. Thinking about buying another set now for all of the other days of the week!
Excellent baselayer!
January 01, 2011
Great fit, very comfy and very warm...especially when used with a nice, fleece midlayer. Great product!
Pros: Build quality, Great valueGreat product!
May 18, 2010
Even in the coldest Colorado winter conditions, they kept my husband warm. He owns several of them and wears them to work in and ski on the mountain.
Warmest
March 07, 2011
I've had a lot of different mid weight bottoms, and this particular model of Patagonia is by far the warmest of all. It fits just right, and extremely comfortable. I used them in my recent trip to Tahoe and was well impressed.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valueMmmm...soft
January 25, 2012
Comfortable, soft, non-restrictive, warm...what else are you looking for? Purchased for skiing and would do so again. 4 stars due to price but like anything else if you're willing to pay what they're asking then who are you to complain?
Perfect bottoms
February 09, 2011
I spent some time researching online. Read some positive reviews about Capilene. After buying can confirm that reviews I read were absolutely right. These are very comfortable and warm bottoms. At the same time they are very breathable. I tested it last weekend on a sailing trip. Works just great.
Pros: Great design, comfortableGood buy
December 07, 2010
This was my first experience with Patagonia and I'm happy with my purchase thus far. I've worn these to ski just once since I bought them and they were warm enough to wear with my shell ski pants when it was windy and 14 at the top of Killington. Any colder I may have to recommend a thicker baselayer or insulated pants.

very warm and comfortable but thicker than we thought

arrived within one week (to Hawaii); very warm and comfortable but fabric is thicker than we thought it would be
Best overall choice
January 21, 2010
Capilene 3 keeps you warm and dry, very functional, and is easy care and durable. Simply the best all around. Merino wool can also be very nice, but at about twice the price and not nearly as tough.
