Men's Down Sweater Vest
This is GREAT for Cross-country, snowshoeing, ice skating!
Very little bulk but excellent warmth and performance!
Patagonia never disappoints! I think anyone who wears their gear will be totally satisfied!

Gift for hubby
He loves it but it's too big so we need to exchange it. Patagonia doesn't disappoint with this product. Thin enough to be comfy but still keeps youbwarm. Not great for windy days. You will love it.

Down Sweater Vest
This was my first piece of Patagonia gear and I love it. The fit is perfect to layer underneath a shell for snowboarding in Tahoe. It has a nice slim fit and hugs nicely when zipped up. Also, it compresses small enough to fit into a cargo pocket for the afternoons when it heats up. I am 5'11" and 170 lbs and the medium fits perfect for my purposes. I'm a new fan of Patagonia and will look for more of their gear.

Patagonia vest - very SLIM cut
I have been buying Patagonia products for over 20 years, and they have always stood the test of time in terms of quality and durability.
I got the Men's Down Sweater Vest in a size small. I am a 5'6" female at what I thought was a fairly slim 130 lbs. I am a little long in the torso and arms, and have slightly broad shoulders (think "swimmer's build") so I have always been able to wear men's small items well.
Not so with the Patagonia Down Vest! Patagonia must think that men that wear a size small have zero body fat and *very* narrow hips. I can zip it up but it is a little too snug around the hip area so I had to return it.
I am disappointed that the fit is so slim as the product itself seems quite nice in terms of quality, simplicity of design, and efficacy in keeping the wearer warm.

Must Have
Recently I purchased a Patagonia's Mens Down Sweater Vest and I will say how nice and warm they are but more than that they are very stylish. I'm from Colorado and people wear them all the time here. I have a family of 4 and we all have one now. We have gotten so many compliments. It's truly a must have!

be warned about fit
I LOVE Patagonia products. The down sweater is the best jacket I've ever owned - it fits like it was tailored just for me (in a Medium). However, the down sweater vest is another story. It is not a regular fit (like the down sweater), but Patagonia's infamous slim fit (no matter what Altrec's site says). Thus, it is not simply the down sweater minus sleeves, but a whole different garment from a sizing and fit perspective. For me, it doesn't work at all - the Medium is too snug (although zippable) and the Large is too, well, large. If you are slim and long torso'd, Patagonia's slim fit is for you. If you're not, be warned!

Great Travel Vest
Remarkably warm for the light weight. This vest is easily packable. Though not water resistant, it is very durable in light rain. The quality is typical superb Patagonia. The cost prevents this vest from being a good value.

a must have product for actice people.
I will never go skiing without this west. easy to pack, and carry and warm if you should need it. Perfect in combination with coretex jackets.
Best use is to carry on your way upp a mounten ( often chill) and use it under your cortex, skiiing down.
I will also bring this playing golf in september, october.

Wow, whoever had the idea for a "slim line" in out clothing should get a bonus. This is the only vest that has ever fit me because most bunch up in the front when zipped. I am a big Patagonia Fan!!

Lite and Warm
I bought this for my husband an avid skier. He usually has no issue with being cold but there were a few days below zero that sent him to the car for more gear. Not skiing from open to close is not an option so more warmth for those very cold days was necessary. This vest is light weight - easy to stuff in a backpack - adds tremendous warmth while allowing free range of motion through arms and shoulders. He was thrilled! This vest is worth every penny! Love it.

Great Vest
This is a wonderful vest for a bit of extra warmth when the weather starts to get a little colder. I look forward to also using it as an extra layer when it gets really cold. Light weight and I bought it to take it to Kilimanjaro as it is so versatile. The grey also looks great . Worth the extra cost.

Great Daily Vest
I really love this vest and has been using it so often, almost daily. It is so light and you can compress it into nothing, easy to put into a backpack. Thinking to buy a down sweater too. Really good product. Recommended!

nice feeling vest. fits true to size. wish i would have gone with a large. i'm 6' and 160 lb. sorta rides up when i have a book bag or backpack on. i got the silver with yellow. looks cool over anything

Patagonia Down Vest
Excellent fit and very warm. Next purchase will be full jacket. If you want warmth with good mobility, get this vest. Good value and style. I would recommend this vest to anyone needing a lightweight warm garment.

Great on cold days
I ski 70 days a year on Vail Mountain where temperatures can drop as low as 25 degrees below. I have both the vest and the pullover and use both in combination or alternate the vest and pullover according to the weather. Light and warm - a great buy!

Good Vest
I really like this vest. I wear it a lot, both around town and on the trail. The fit is perfect, I'm 6'2" 218# and I bought an XL. I am now considering the Sweater Jacket. It is a little expense but you get what you pay for.

Versatile vest - outerwear or layering
I wear my Patagonia vest more than about any other piece of high-end gear. Was wary about spending so much compared to other models, but have decided it was worth the expense. The vest is lightweight, yet remarkably warm. I wear it in many ways. When its rainy & the temperature is in the mid 30s-40s F (common here in Western Norway), I am warm enough with just a long-sleeve shirt and a very lightweight Marmot rain shell, provided I keep moving. Inside buildings that can vary greatly in room temperature it's a practical piece for throwing on in drafty rooms. Patagonia sizes run large, especially the past season, but they describe the fit of the vest as a slim. I wear a 40 short suitcoat and a 15 1/2 inch dress shirt, and find the M fits me almost perfectly. Not too tight, doesn't look puffy and, I've been told, is slimming. On plane and train rides, it packs down into a neat pillow. Highly recommended.

Excellent purchase
I purchased this as a gift for my father for Christmas - he loved it and it is the perfect down sweater vest - not bulky yet not too thin, warm and can be layered nicely. Definitely recommend!

worth the extra $$
was looking for the perfect down vest to wear under a wool coat on cold new york city mornings (i take a boat to work, so the wind is really cold at 5.30am). This will not only form the perfect base layer, but it looks great with your jacket off as well. Incredibly light and very soft, it has ample pockets (i like the stash pocket inside for keeping $$ in) . Becuse its so light, it's not noticeable under another (more stylish) outer coat, but it really keeps you warm. This will NOT make you look like a sumo wrestler wearing one of those other down vests on the market .
For those of you a little over your optimal weight, it is cut for a thin athletic type , length is true to size though.

Great Vest
This vest looks good, gives a nice snug fit and keeps me warm. First thing you will notice is that it is super light weight and thin,
so it does not give you a puffy look with other down vests. I also like that it can be stowed into a small pack using its own liner pocket.
I have yet to test it under everyday wear and tear over a long period, but I trust patagonia to make it durable.

Excellent product
This vest is lighter than any fleece yet warmer. If your active, it works well on cool clear days and will fit under any waterproof outerwear if severe moisture is a problem. It is so light you do not notice that you have it on. It serves as an excellent garment to wear around the house doing chores on winter days and evenings when you are trying to save on utility bills. Highly recommend!

great vest!
I bought this for my boyfriend after he tried it on at the store. He never likes vests, but he loved this one. I bought him a medium (which is what he usually wears), but it turns out that he needs the small to have the slim fit feel to it.

nice piece
Overall quality, very nice, as expected from patagonia. Fits rather short. I am 6 foot one, and the large barely reaches my belt. But I got it for layering under my shell, so it's fine.
Not super warm...I've had down sweaters before, and you can notice the difference with the absence of sleeves. But it does keep your core warm, so it works for most days above 10F.

Would recommend it for sure! I have worn it with several combinations of layers and it hasn't failed, it is reasonably snag resistant as well although I haven't worn it bushwhacking.

Good Mid Layer - could be a 5
I have tried my Patagonia Men's Down Sweater Vest once - under my jacket while skiing a storm in cold spring temps and wicked winds. I stayed quite warm. Am pleased with the minimal bulk and apparent high insulation value provided by the garment. Would give it a 5, but I have not tested it in winter conditions yet. I would emphasize that it has a lightweight outer fabric - not rugged enough for heavy duty outerwear, but perfect as a mid layer or for around town.

Lightweight, warm, very packable
I just received my vest, but it has quickly proven itself. My first day out I needed a little extra warmth on a sub 30 degree bike ride. I put this on under my jersey and felt nothing but the sweet sensation of core warmth during the entire ride. It is so light you can't tell it's on, perfect for layering. The best part is the packability. It compresses extremely well, which is great for someone that doesn't like to check bags when traveling. I'm going out of town this next week and I know this is coming along with me. Quality feels excellent as with all Patagonia products. I ordered a large, which feels slightly big through the torso on my skinny frame so may go with a size down (6'3" 175). Great product nonetheless!

LOVE this vest
I got this vest as a present for my boyfriend. Last year I got him the down sweater which has become his favorite winter jacket for layering, wearing around town and on the mountain. The vest is the same weight with a slightly closer fit in the body. I think he's going to be wearing this everywhere - even around the house. It's warm when you need it, but lightweight enough to work in a wide variety of temperature ranges. Now I want one!

ultra light
This product can keep your core warm yet it's weight is very little. Wear it over or under to adjust to current weather. The vest also is very water repellent and looks great over regular clothes.

Lightweight & Warm
Awesome vest, I wear it regularly. It weighs almost nothing but is surprisingly warm. It kept me comfortable under a shell for four hours in wet and windy 40 degree weather.

Worth it.
Patagonia makes great products and this is one of them. I've used for riding, climbing, and just around town. It's small to pack, versatile, and you can wear straight from the crags into a restaurant and not look like a chalked up dirtbag :)

Heavy?
I expected in the ballpark of the listed 193 grams but found that size medium was 240 grams! It's made to fit tight at bottom and top to keep wind out and heat in but I would prefer less material inches around the middle too. It looks fitted at top and bottom but balloons out a bit in the middle. For reference, I'm 5'8" and 155lbs. The jacket looks very well made and I'm sure it's as warm as people say too.

Great Vest
Light weight, good color, very comfortable. Attractive and not too puffy. I won't have a chance to wear it here in New Orleans for a while, but look forward to cool fall days when this Patagonia sweater vest will be perfect.

Excellent fit and functionality
I purchased this trip for multiple applications. First and foremost as a technical layering piece for outdoor activities and second, as a layer for travel in and around town. This vest fits very well and is surprisingly warm for its size and bulk. I am very thin and purchased a men's small. The fit is excellent. The vest does not extend past my shoulders and yet it doesn't restrict any movement about the torso. I recommend this vest to anyone looking for a down layering piece and I would say The Patagonia Sweater Vest is also superior to a comparable fleece garment.

Awesome Vest
I love this thing.... the individual compartments for the down eliminate any cold spots. I work as a flight paramedic in Maine, I use this at work where it is often below zero and I stay pretty cozy. it has all the warmth of the rest of the down vests that other folks make without the bulk. a favorite
I bought one for my 86 year old mother because it is so light and keeps the core warm and easily slips over and under clothes. I have one myself. This one was for my father (aged 88) who was jealous. He loves it. The warmth to bulk ratio is excellent allowing several layers in addition to this. The perfect addition to an english wardrobe where the weather is often damp and chills to the bone!

I have been looking for some lightweigt down vest to wear under heavy duty parka for winter mountaineering.Usually down vest is too bulky for layering but patagonia down sweater vest is not bulky and light and warm enough. And it is made of high quality 800 fillpower down and looks good too. I really like it.

Good Stuff, best for layering
I recently got one of these vests. I inadvertently got it thinking it was synthetic fill. Where I live down is not a very practical insulator, BUT, after wearing and using this piece I can see it being a useful layering piece for my work in the field. Warm, extremely light weight and VERY packable, it is a solid vest.
