Description

Ok, your tried and true old Husky down jacket is toasty but it's your bulky bugger nemesis – scratching your head what are you going to do? Heading out for a winter multi-day you've got to stuff the Men's Hi-Loft Down Sweater from Patagonia into your pack. Like your down jacket on minimalist pills, this insulating layer maximizes weight-to-warmth without the bulk by loading up with extra premium 800 fill down. Designed with larger channels, the Hi-Loft takes on more down fill, while keeping its sharp looks impeccable. Wrapped in a polyester ripstop shell, with a Deluge® DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish, this Patagonia insulator blocks the wind and is tough against tears and abrasion. Designed with a quilted-through construction the Hi-Loft is complemented with two exterior zippered pockets and an interior zippered security pocket ready for essentials, and nylon-bound elastic cuffs with drawcord hem to batten down the hatches. Stuff sack included.

Sooo Comfy

Loved the vest and had to have the sweater. To me, the sweater is a great light jacket and easy to pack. I look for excuses to wear it...maybe a summer trip to Alaska.

Toasty Jacket
March 27, 2012

A warm jacket indeed. It's much warmer than the Patagonia Down Sweater, but also performs on par with some of the much heavier, bulkier jackets in my wardrobe. Patagonia has always excelled in the ability to pack alot of warmth in a lightweight package. In alot of cases, many down jackets can make you look like the Michelin Man, but this jacket doesn't create that effect at all. It offers a slim fit, but is very toasty and windproof. If you're looking for a good mid-weight jacket that performs exceptionally well in cool to cold conditions - the Hi Loft Jacket is a solid choice.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, lightweight

Much better heavy-down option than the super puffs
January 16, 2012

I'm writing this review on behalf of my father-in-law who I purchased this for. He's got more outwear in his closets than anyone I know. From the moment he put this one on, we knew it was a winner. The regular down sweater (which is my go-to) is great to always have with you for those nights or mornings that are colder than expected, but in frigid temperatures, without any layers underneath it's just not enough. This hi-loft one, without adding a ton of bulk, gives you all the cold protection you will need, unless you're planning on sleeping outside in the dead of winter. It has a sleek fit as well, so there's no michelin man look. It can also be worn on cool mornings and nights, but it is a bit warmer than the regular down sweater. Definitely your option if you're looking to replace a heavy puff jacket with a slim and streamlined look.

Great Fit
December 11, 2011

My wife purchased this "sweater" which can be worn under a jacket however it is warm enough to wear as a jacket for temps between 25-35 degrees. It fits great, it's stylish and is very comfortable.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
